The Mighty Wurlitzer: Endless distraction.

Once more, we see The Mighty Wurlitzer droning on with the conventional wisdom of influence peddlers who benefit from the direct receipt of kickback for their tireless efforts. "Journalistic integrity?" hahahaha!

For brutal objectivity, I assiduously ignore 90% of what is broadcast and written in the traditional media, and I pay attention to flawlessly credentialed critics and academics who have no axe to grind but fact and truth. But, then, my parents let me teethe on Ramparts Magazine.

Next up for spin: The weather report. Why would NBC have purchased The Weather Channel?

The Mighty Wurlitzer Drones On - unabated.

Sometimes I think that Obama's 'truth commission' should begin by cutting their tongues out and surgically removing their keyboard fingers, and this would be just to even up the sides!

Assholes who read NYT for fact and truth are in for more wicked spin between now and the 2010 midterm elections. First, they will build up expectations, maybe for a full year - then they will lecture us about trumped up 'administration failures' with earnest but pure and unadulterated bullshit. I am so f**kin' tired of being lectured to by a literate bunch of certifiable establishment and right wing pundits with all the right pedigrees.

Thank you for your fine demystifying work, Glenn. Me, I'm out here waiting in the backyard with a torch and a pitchfork any time you want to join me. You'll recognize me by my stylish tinfoil hat with the hatband: The Anti-O'Reilly Factor.

Establishment Democrats Can Carry Progressive Water

On the defining issues of genocide, outright human rights violations of torture and illegal imprisonment, it will be centrists who can remand BushCheney hostages to The Hague for Resolution of moral and ethical issues. The BushCheney Administration - and Congress - have introduced too much prejudice and have disqualified themselves from adjudicating the cases of hostages held. This may provide the very best foundation for the ultimate condemnation of the BushCheney regime. Progressives who have called for impeachment since 2005 cannot do this.

On health care for all, centrist Democrats will be able to out the Republican Party as The Party Working Against the People - Progressives have been shouting this for decades, to no avail!

And on privatization - the direct transfer of public tax revenues to corporate coffers, or neofascism - again, Progressives have been warning about this since Eisenhower!

I assume that Reid has whipped up the votes

to drive us liberals wild again, thereby proving that the election victory was an illusion, while real Democrats can remain shadow actors in a kabuki play. If the country goes further down the drain because of their farcical bi-partisanship, they will continue to be held in disrepute.

What does it take for R's to admit they were so wrong !!?

Evidence for Lieberman's removal from his chairmanship and the Senate Democratic caucus is complete.

At what point can one say that Lieberman is actually a Republican?

Excellent insight, as always, Glenn!

But it is of small comfort to those of us who have watched in horror over the past two years while cowardly Pelosi, Reid and Hoyer promulgated renewal of the Patriot Act, drill here drill now, several Iraq War budget resolutions, allowed FISA to be expanded - and subpoena power has been completely ignored. Impeachment? It was always a mere fantasy....and our Democrats have merely toyed with us while they have built more prisons than ever before.

Nothing, in fact nor act for two solid years, was done to advance against the ripping tide of neoconservative imperatives as stated in their 1997 PNAC treatise, to a point now where our last shred of prosperity is being toted off by the barrel to the very patricians and the greedy barons who have been on watch during the past eight years. The bailout is their payday!

They will get their wish to shrink government so small that it may be drowned in Grover Norquist's bathtub. But if the occasion arises, I will personally take the opportunity to metaphorically drown him and his adherents in it as well. They richly deserve the torture treatment they imposed on the innocent victims of their thuggery in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have lost much of the tolerance and humility I once valued. Thank you, Colin Powell, now go away in shame and leave us your Wilkerson.

It will be wonderful to see the evolution of the next eight to sixteen years of progressivist expansion and a repudiation of the enabling crowd of creeps like Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer who have been doing nothing more than playing kabuki theater while the tide of public opinion has been marching leftward.

To be precise, it will be ecstatic to help to perfect Obama in a new cooperative world order. It will be very rich indeed to see economic recovery and prosperous expansion at the expense of the defense indusrial complex budget and the loyal American patricians and oligarchs who would remain here to rebuild our economy.

I look forward to positive proof of the complete intellectual bankruptcy of idiots like Bill Kristol, Charles Krauthammer and the New Republic-Council on Foreign Relations-Trilateral Commission crowd ...perhaps the dissolution and demise of the Manhattan and American Enterprise Institutes. I am of the opinion that these people and their institutions have contributed absolutely nothing in the way of progress and have merely grabbed money and property for the wealthiest classes across the world. They are tools. True Progressives are never tools.

Chris Hedges says there are none left to help recreate our American scene at an institutional level. I am not so pessimistic when I read your criticisms. Please keep up the good work!
