It's just not on his strategy-schedule right now. Now he needs Republicans to pass his budget. The fast track process was denied. And if they don't pass it, he'll drop the hammer and go political on their ass in late May. Much of the economic recovery plan depends on a realignment of budget priorities.

I'm thinking Obama's waiting for Cheney to die or something. That would solve a lot of the public umbrage problem that will result from OLC memo release. Too many compelling situations result.

The big problem with the memos is that they wrote them in plain language for Chimpy. Joe Sixpack and Susie Soccermom will see Yoo et al are plainly talking about breaking the law.

This doesn't bode well for the Republican June fundraiser either, and that one counts big for Repugs. Obama may not be wanting to hit them in their wallet right now, but it will be the unavoidable consequence of BushCo, a political gift to Democrats, a curse that keeps on giving.

As long as Obama can keep delaying their release, he can lay to claim to a statesmanlike bi-partisanship appeal. Once it goes public, Holder will have no choice.

And the real issue has to do with the scandal, model evidence that could be provided by Madoff - the biggest money-laundering scandal that the world has ever known. No Ponzi scheme at all. This one was fraud, plain & simple. Shipping money to cooperating overseas bank counterparties, two continents away! The wonder is that Madoff pulled it off at all! He couldn't have done it without the collaboration of the SEC and the Treasury Dep't.

Santelli's pre-arranged "Chicago Tea Party" lifted the curtain a bit on overt media manipulation. Jon Stewart's Cramer pile-on is actually giving Santelli's scam quite a bit of cover.

But Santelli's outright coordination was the far more egregious crime. Let's not forget that CNBC is only about making money amid excess, t & a, and bullshit in what has become the biggest rigged game of all time: Wall Street "investments."
