Original article: I don't believe in atheists

There's nothing to believe

I'm an atheist which simply means I do not believe in the supernatural. That's it. There's no philosophy. No argument. Nothing provocative. Nothing dangerous. Nothing new.

Square but cool in the 60s

It's important to understand that most who were young in the 60s were just "regular" people living "regular" lives--going to school, working--the usual. We knew about the craziness only because it was all over the news, not because everyone was participating. Most of us did not attend Woodstock, did not have the free time to do the crazy things that the media claimed everyone was doing. We graduated college, went to work, led "regular" lives without drugs. Most everyone was square. It's a myth that everyone was a stoned, hippie, flower child in the 60s. I'm 61 and was "there" and square.

Waste of money

It's a waste of money to "advertise" something like that in bikini bottoms. FGM is an atrocious horror! The embiciles who are doing the mutilating need to be mutilated themselves! What is the solution? The leaders in these countries where the practice exists are wretched, power-hungry sociopaths. Millions of American taxpayer dollars have been given to these governments, & instead of being used for relief purposes, it is used to purchase weapons to benefit the goals of the greedy, corrupt governments. It seems hopeless.

Comment the epitome of grasping at straws

Your comment, "...let us hope that the Republicans will no longer complain so bitterly about affirmative action, since they have taken that policy to its absurd conclusion..." is the epitome of desperation. Palin has been successfully dismantling an entrenched political establishment in Alaska. What on earth has Obama been doing? What? Obama has written two books---about HIMSELF! HIMSELF! What about that makes him qualified to govern? He's nothing but a bit of self-absorbed fluff.

no more platitudes

"Tonight, I say to the American people, to Democrats and Republicans and Independents across this great land - enough."

But no one is explaining what he's going to do. What kind of change? And how's he going to do it? Enough of what? We're all tired of Bush. But I want specifics. Not platitudes.

Blame NAGIN

The elephant in the living room on this subject is that it was NAGIN'S fault. He's incompetent and just downright dumb. And the rest of us taxpayers are having to pay for it. Nagin should have gotten those dumb people out before Katrina. It wasn't the federal government's responsibility. It was NAGIN'S. Time to face facts!!!

Joe Conason's silly sarcasm

"Suddenly all anyone needs to qualify as a potential commander in chief is to be a religious ideologue with female gender characteristics? "

By Joe Conason

That's just silly! Joe Conason, you're desperately grasping at straws!

It's who pays that matters

To FPZ1807 Ebony & Ivory

What a silly comment! It doesn't matter to me if it's Obama's daughter or Palin's daughter who is pregnant. Those families can afford it. What matters most is when the taxpayer is forced to pay for the consequences of illegitimacy. Have all the children you want, married or not; just make sure YOU, YOU, not me, can pay to support them, emotionally & financially. We taxpayers won't be paying to support Bristol's baby! We ARE supporting the illegitimate offspring of the irresponsible who can't afford to have them yet continue having them anyway.

Blacks always blame someone else

"It was a convenient target for him to rail against and blame all of Detroit's problems on.....it's the evil white suburbs that are destroying Detroit."

Blacks ALWAYS blame someone else for their problems. Here are other examples: Take a look at Clayton County, Georgia's recent fiasco. Because of the incompetent school board, the school system recently lost its accreditation, which has dire consequences for students. The school board members, almost all black, claim to have done nothing wrong.

Grady Hospital in Atlanta was on the brink of closing due to bankruptcy, caused by mismanagement by the black board of directors and an incompetent black CEO.

Take a look at the city of Atlanta.

Political correctness is going to be the nation's downfall.

Silly View

The View is a cheesy, silly show featuring vacuous women with the intellectual ability of rocks. They give women a bad name. Someone needs to tell Whoopi that the U S Constitution is not to blame for her slavery, her own people are to blame. The African blacks are the ones who started the slave trade hundreds of years ago, and it continues today in Africa. Of course, we know that the question was asked just to get attention and create conflict. That's the only way The View stays on the air--they keep some non-issue going all the time to stay in the spotlight. It's a stupid, useless show. I don't understand why McCain stooped to that in the first place. Oh, and tell Barabara that she should say, "WE whites...", not "Us whites..." as she said. She should know better.

It's simple, really

To takurua, who posted on Saturday, I comletely agree with you. All the philosophyzing everyone else (including Ashley) has done on the subject is enlightening and fun to read, and seems much more sophisticated than what I'm about to say, but does this really require an intellectul debate? Are we trying to put a cerebral slant on something that doesn't require that to be understood? It is what it is. She's getting paid a lot of money for something that many girls/women give away regularly on a "one-night-stand" or "mindless f#ck," as it's sometimes laughingly called these days. Others have raised many good points in this discussion. However, I think it's much simpler than all that.

I'm an attractive, financially secure, 62 year old woman thinking, while watching the 20/20 interview, what an easy way to make a lot of money....if only men would pay big bucks for 62 year old escorts!

Genius

I think it was a brilliant idea! It's fun to learn these 25 things people share about themselves. It was also fun writing my own 25 things. Who ever dreamed up the idea probably knew that! And, if you don't want to do it, don't do it.
