[Read the article: Sorority's discriminating days are numbered]

The faster ALL greek 'organizations' can be eliminated from universities, the better off the students would be; frankly they're obstacles to learning.

  • OK

    Ms Tracy -

No offense, but it really seems like you were trying, nay straining, to come up with a reason to be offended by this ad. Let it go, it's funny and though CBS and Fox aren't showing it, it's very likely that with their respective demographics, not too many of the watchers have any use for condoms. CBS because of age and Fox, well, just because it's rough out there for Republican men these days.

  • Me too

[Read the article: Steorn shuts down its "free energy" demo]

Well, I'm back to working on my time machine. I'll let y'all know how it works out.

  • Nope

[Read the article: Can Amazon's Kindle remake e-books?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It'll be a cold day in hell before I spend $400 for a proprietary device that'll allow me to spend exactly the same amount of money for a book. I travel for work virtually every week and would love to be able to carry around hundreds of books with me, but I can live w/o luxury that because e-books just flat out suck. I love holding a real book in my hands p besides, who wants to wait for still *another* electronic device to boot up?

  • A better solution

[Read the article: Facebook: Shut down that privacy-invading ad program!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Don't be on Facebook. Problem solved.

  • It was for me

[Read the article: Was Obama's speech enough?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Perhaps it wasn't enough for Joan, but it certainly was for me! When I listen to Obama, I actually feel hope for the future. When I hear Clinton or McCain speak, it's more like "same ol', same ol'". For the first time in a LONG time, I'm actually looking forward to November's election; Obama will make a fine President.

  • Also with FireFox

[Read the article: Search commercial break: Google tests video ads]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You can down load the Adblock Plus extension + automatic updates (G Filter) and block ALL ads on every page (or nearly so, at least). It's been a long time since I've had more than the most minimal ad intrusion on a web page.

  • A pox on Apple and Microsoft both

[Read the article: A rocky Windows trek for Apple's Safari browser ]

This is one of the reasons why I stick with FireFox.

  • Bad Math

He probably meant 5 points, unless he's REALLY bad at math

  • Pathetic

[Read the article: The Hydro 4000: Save 60 percent on gas?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It strikes me as kind of pathetic that there are either typo's or math errors that effect the very core of this story. Maybe editors DO add something to the discussion after all.

  • geez

Say of me what you will, but I read the article and all I could think was 'what a whiner'. Grow up, politics is a full contact sport and if you can't take the fact that people fight mean, then you should probably find a different career.

I have no idea if the charges are worthy or not, but don't expect me to feel any sympathy for this half-bright fuckwit.

  • Delegates

[Read the article: Convention crowd is sparse]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Can't speak for the whole convention, but I flew into Minneapolis this weekend (for work, not the convention) and there were a number of RNC delegates on the same flight. All white and all old enough to call McCain "whipper-snapper".

    Just one guys observation.

  • What do you expect?

[Read the article: Poll: Half say Palin isn't experienced enough to be president]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How could she possibly have the necessary experience, she wasn't a POW after all.

As for the folks appalled at the 42% who think she is qualified, well, that's about the same size as the committed GOP base. No surprise.

  • Well

[Read the article: Cracks appearing in Palin's "reform" facade]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If she's already claiming "executive privilege" to protect herself against investigations of unethical activity, I'd say she's pretty much a perfect Republican.

  • SEC

[Read the article: "Celebration" crackdown hurts college football]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thank God, the SEC is bigger than the NCAA and does whatever the hell we want to. You lesser conferences can follow those meaningless rules if you want. We'll just keep dominating, ok?

  • Game

[Read the article: Rift between Bush administration and congressional GOP?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's a big ol' game of "hot potato"...no one wants to get left holding it when the music stops, and it's winding down pretty quickly.

  • Bail Out

[Read the article: WSJ editorial board takes on McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As you spend the weekend thinking on how President Bush just bailed out the nation's banks to the tune of $3600 from each and every citizen in the country ($1.1 trillion total), to cover up bad loans they made to feed their greed, you might want to remember back to this 2005 legislation:

The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (Pub.L. 109-8, 119 Stat. 23, enacted 2005-04-20), providing for significant changes in bankruptcy in the United States, was passed by the 109th United States Congress on April 14, 2005 and signed into law by President George W. Bush on April 20, 2005. The effective date for most of its provisions apply to cases commenced on or after October 17, 2005. Referred to colloquially as the "New Bankruptcy Law", the Act of Congress attempts to make it more difficult for consumers to discharge debt under Chapter 7.

The leaders of Congress in 2005 were: Dennis Hastert (R-ILL) and Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). They passed these laws to protect bank profits from "irresponsible" borrowers. Nice to see that the GOP hasn't changed since then; they're every bit as willing to stick the citizens with the bill for the irresponsible management of corporations.

I guess Obama was right when he said that a Republican principal is "You're on your own."

Unless you're the CEO of a bank.

  • Funny

[Read the article: Obama: "This is exactly the time" for a debate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Lincoln was able to run for re-election during the Civil War, FDR could do it during WW-2.

Maybe McCain isn't up to this job.

  • Folksiness

[Read the article: Your daily Palin: Debate response edition]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As a guy, her folksiness is as offensive to me as her charging of rape victims for their exam kits.
