Reid Needs to Go

I'm so annoyed that Reid made some kind of agreement with Specter. This is not good for the Democratic Party. Specter would have lost his primary and the Dem candidate would have beat the far right winger. We would have had a real Democrat instead of Specter. Harry Reid knew this. He was only protecting Specter and himself. He wants more blue dogs and now he has an actual dino. Specter is already out there talking about having 60 votes on the healthcare vote. I hope a Democrat runs against him. Sestak says he hasn't ruled it out.

@anonymust

Yeah, you're right, I would be disappointed with Sestak. Thanks for the info.

Hooray!

Hooray, Hooray! A victory for the Constitution!

After watching our media slant the torture debate it's nice to know that at least one institution has some working parts. Let's just hope if they appeal to the full panel that they will rule the same and if it should go to the Supreme Court I hope they will do the same. Anyway, at least today we can celebrate!

Major Defeat Not Worthy of Front Page News

Dana Priest, at the Washington Post, breaks the story about the black sites and it's rightfully front page news in the Post. Carrie Johnson writes a piece reporting that the Obama administration is using the Bush "state secrets" claim in an attempt to shut down an entire legal case and it's rightfully front page news. But when Carrie Johnson reports that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejects this specious argument, the Post thinks it's not worthy of front page news. I guess the Post is afraid that this Court decision might give citizens the idea that there should be accountability for torture and that disagrees with our establishment media's collective view that we should just move on. Pitiful.

Original article: Let war crimes be bygones

After writing this do you actually expect us to buy your book entitled "liberty"?

Oh, my god. Is this a serious piece? Surely not. Surely you don't believe that war crimes are a political issue and not a rule of law issue? Surely you haven't bought into the absurd claim that this is only liberal score-settlers wanting political payback? Surely you looked at the recent polls where a majority of the people who wanted accountability were moderate or somewhat conservative and not flaming liberals?

And the part about good train service...good god...it brings to mind the old saying about how at least Mussolini always made the trains run on time. When I read that part I thought maybe this was just a humorous piece making light of all the establishment media personalities who have come up with ever more creative and illogical reasons why we shouldn't have equal justice under law in this country. If this is a serious piece, and I'm afraid that it is, than you aren't the man that I thought you were.

After reading this piece I find it ironic that your new book is entitled "liberty." You obviously don't know the first thing about liberty, sir.

“"The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men." -Samuel Adams”

WTF

I just read the Keillor post and my head is about to explode from doing so. It makes you wonder after seeing so many of these "perversions of our law" pieces written by these media personalities if we've been taken over by pod people, just like what happened in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. This is just nuts. What is wrong with these people!

This is what I added at the end of my comment about Keillor's comments.

@Sean M Enright

"He even gets specific suggesting that if all those lawyers weren't busy score-settling they'd be building trains in the Midwest instead."

When Keillor mentioned the trains in his piece it brought to my mind all those people who used to dismiss Mussolini's crimes by saying that at least he made the trains run on time.

Angry and Depressed

Late last night I read the Cohen piece then this morning I read the Friedman piece then I came here and got pointed to the Keillor piece. Needless to say I'm angry and depressed all at the same time. I didn't even write a blog post today. Everything I started, I couldn't finish. Looks like it's a day off for me. I need to recharge my batteries busying myself with some of the more mundane things in life in order to forget about the important things that are breaking my heart.

Success at last!

After being too angry and depressed to make a blog post today I finally published one. Link at sig.
