Two items in WaPo today about investigating torture. Although both pieces are flawed, at least it's a start.
Anne Applebaum at WaPo calling for investigation of CIA prisons and that senior leaders be held accountable.
Cleanup Task for a Shining City

What we need now, therefore, is not an endless, politicized circus of a congressional investigation into every aspect of George W. Bush's White House but a carefully targeted legal investigation of the CIA's invisible prisons: who gave the orders to use torture, who carried out the orders, what exactly was done, who objected. The guilty, however senior, should be named, forced to testify and called to account -- because the rule of law, and nothing else, is what makes us exceptional.
Fred Hiatt's editorial page calling for investigation (no prosecution)
The Truth About Torture
An independent panel must ferret out the facts.

Sorry, I left of the link to the Applebaum column.

I just joined Twitter the other day. One of the people I'm following is David Schuster so I sent this tweet to Schuster earlier today:
pmcallWhat's the scoop Schuster - Did C. Todd borrow John King's knee pads to grovel at Cheney's feet when he made the Gibbs vs. Cheney remark?
On a separate note did everyone see the Fred Hiatt editorial in the Post today? It's not without it's flaws (after all it is Hiatt) but it's a start.

The WaPo columnist Anne Applebaum also had a column calling for investigations of CIA prisons and she called for high officials to be held accountable. Again the piece is not without flaws but coming from this Bush apologist it's a step in the right direction.

I just read your comment about knee pads for John King. LOL I just got done posting my earlier comment to David Schuster that specifically mentions John King's knee pads. LOL Too funny!
A matching colored bib would be a good idea. LOL
Hey, maybe we can even spring for a whole set of bibs labeled Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so that whenever Cheney needs to go on TV to push his agenda King will be ready and waiting.
Great reporting, Mr. Benjamin! Much better than what I've read in other publications.
Great catch, Glenn. Let's see if our traditional media asks the question.
Obama overture elicits cautious response from Iran
An Iranian advisor welcomes the U.S. president's New Year wish for a new beginning in relations but says Tehran seeks changes in U.S. Mideast policies before it will agree to rapprochement.

I just finished reading the Matt Taibbi piece in Rolling Stone and then I came here and was told by Glenn to read the Taibbi piece. Too funny! LOL
