Glenn, here is another notable person fighting with us to protect the rule of law. If you ever write that book I mentioned earlier in the comments his name should be added to the list of patriots.
This piece by the famed trial lawyer, Martin Garbus, was posted on Huffington Post.
The Bush Lawbreakers Should be Criminally Prosecuted -- Commissions Don't Do It - Martin Garbus

"John Yoo is sorry for nothing sneering with contempt..."
Sadly your observation is right on target. I would also submit that we could remove the name John Yoo from your sentence and replace it with the name David Addington, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, George Bush or other Bush officials and the sentence would still be correct. It's painfully clear that there is no shortage of arrogant Bush administration officials who sneer with contempt at anyone that they feel has the audacity to challenge them on their illegal actions. These cowardly officials are nothing but bullies and like all bullies they have an inflated sense of their own importance. They consider anyone who doesn't support their view not worthy of them. This attitude is yet another reason why we must investigate and prosecute. We must bring these oversized egos back to earth and make them face what their own hubris has done. For if we don't we will encourage another generation of arrogant, dangerous officials to take up where these people left off.
Thanks ondelette. I figured hunthorse would have a hard enough time just grasping Article 3 that I didn't bother to include anything else.
Fred Hiatt is so far down the rabbit hole that he doesn't know which end is up anymore. What a truly pathetic editorial.
So let's see. By its own terms, by the terms understood even by an OLC internal critic (Bradford), the Yoo memo(s) were general legal discussions, for hypothetical terrorism scenaria, utilized only, if ever, within the OLC and/or Justice, and/or the Bush Administration.
Without any evidence that any activity was taken with regard to any specific item of legislation, or executive order, or military order, or justice department activity.

Is this your new mantra? Are you hoping if you repeat it often enough it will make it true? I feel sorry for people like you who are so willfully uninformed about what our government did because you think this is all just some political tit for tat disagreement. I only wish it were. One day I hope you'll wake up and actually see what you've been defending. And if that happens I hope you will make sure that you never play the sucker again.
I posted this earlier this morning on Firedoglake in a post called:
There’s plenty to write about…

pmorlan March 13th, 2009 at 2:51 amThis was my favorite part and it applies to all of our “journalists” not just those who report on business.
Cramer: It’s difficult to have a reporter say I just came from an interview with Hank Paulson and he lied his darn fool head off…it’s difficult - I think it challenges the boundaries.
Stewart: Yeah, I mean I’m under the assumption and maybe this is purely ridiculous, but I’m under the assumption that you don’t just take their word at face value - that you actually then go around and try to figure it out.
Hell yes - challenge the boundaries - Hell yes - don’t take their word at face value. Hell yes - Stop Being Stenographers!
What do you want to bet the MSM doesn’t show my favorite clip in their highlight video from last nights show or they show it but don’t have a clue that it applies to them too?

Yeah, the GREED virus.

Citi Execs Make Killing On Stock Surge
Posted by Daniel Carty |
Citigroup's recent upbeat news about its profitability has driven Wall Street's surge this week, but it also generated $2.2 million for four executives who bought millions of shares of company stock nine days ago, reports Bloomberg.

Which came first the profitability or the planted news items that said they were profitable?
I thought maybe the review was satire...."We" just went from being googly (apt word there) about the noble hero Bush -- really, it was only a few years ago -- to being googly about the noble hero Obama, while sliding towards catastrophe. Worship of monarchy abounds and is an important part of the problem. So now the people are being fed a fable about how good it is? We're supposed to like this?

When I read the Heather Havrilesky review about this movie I thought the same thing about it that Anarcissie wrote. But not having seen the movie yet I can only hope that the show eventually sends the message that even having a benevolent king is a bad thing.
My Congressional Rep. is not listed as a co-sponsor so I'll be contacting his office tomorrow. I don't hold out much hope with my two Senators (Bunning & McConnell).
