This debate was a snoozer because both these candidates are cautious candidates. They have never offered bold change like Edwards. Indeed, they followed Edwards lead throughout this campaign. They made sure that Edwards tested the waters for them first before they would even release their policy proposals. This cautious campaiging is exactly what we will get if either of them is in the Whitehouse. There will be none of the bold change we desperately need. Instead we will get careful, politically correct, don't offend anyone tinkering along the edges.
It's really too bad that the one candidate who offered real historic change that would benefit all of us is the one that was not covered by the media and ignored by the insiders. The two candidates we have left offer a historic change with their gender and race and that's it.
Oh how I wish we could bring back Edwards.
Rebecca, I can't believe you said Edwards was an orc for his comments after the Hillary teary eyed incident. As a feminist I thought the way the media framed that incident was very unfair to Edwards.
If you will remember correctly the Clinton campaign had attacked Edwards the day before the teary eyed incident when Natalie Sarkisyan's family and James Lowe were campaigning with Edwards:
The statement released by Jay Carson, Clinton's spokesperson draws a comparison between Edwards and Clinton. It says, "the references in Senator Clinton's speeches are about people she has actually helped and changes she has actually made, not stories she's pulled from the newspaper and included in her stump, " reports The Caucus

After this statement was released by the Clinton campaign Edwards said:
"The idea that somehow everything is about them [the Clinton camp], I mean it's an indication that they have no conscience about whats at stake here."
The next day, at the tail end of a 36 hr. marathon of campaigning Edwards was asked about Hillary's teary eyed event.
The Clinton people were telling the media that Hillary was tired and that's why she got teary eyed in the event (this was said by them before they knew that they could milk the teary-eyed comment for sympathy - a very anti-feminist message if you ask me).
So we had everyone sympathizing with Hillary because she was tired and the boys were mistreating her. There was no sympathy, however, for Edwards who had been attacked by the Clinton campaign the day before and asked about Hillary's teary eyed remark at the tail end of a brutal 36 hrs. worth of campaigning that would have exhausted anyone. Everyone was willing to cut Hillary slack for being tired even though she had not been campaigning for 36 hours straight. The same sympathy was not given to Edwards.
Edwards is no Orc and under the circumstances surrounding his comment he actually was pretty reserved in what he said. But those who believe everything they read in the media were willing to buy into the Edwards was a meanie narrative, hook, line & sinker.
You're undecided among Hillary & Obama because deep down you know that Edwards is the best candidate and deserves your vote more than the two glamour candidates. I only hope that you do the right thing and vote Edwards in your primary as millions of his supporters plan to do.
What the Senate has done just makes my blood boil. And Obama wants more bi-partisanship? We've had enough bi-partisanship. What we need is a REAL Democrat to bring our country back. Clinton isn't any better. She didn't even bother to vote on this bill. Oh how I wish Edwards was still in the race.
I totally agree with Mr. Romero. We must have a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of this. I know that right now a lot of focus is on the election contests but I hope that all of the progressive blogs will champion this issue until a special prosecutor has been appointed. I also hope that both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton speak out on this issue. They both say they would be the best leader for our country. What they do on this issue gives both of them an opportunity to prove it.
While standing up to Bush on this bill should have been a no-brainer for our elected officials I think we'd be smart to thank them for doing their duty. Maybe the combination of the good headlines and our thanks will cause them to repeat their actions again and again. Praising good behavior is just as potent a weapon in our arsenal to prevent bad behavior as condemnation. Sometimes it's even better.
Hitchens is nothing more than a boorish opportunist. He loves to shock and I doubt he believes much of what he says.
I'm agnostic and I find that those who are 100% sure there is no god are the mirror image of those who are 100% sure that there is one. I also agree that extremists from either group can be dangerous but because there are currently many more exremist religious fundamentalists on the world stage I find these people much more of a concern than the few extremists atheists like Hitchens.
I don't care what others believe as long as they don't try to force me into adopting their belief system. At the present time in our history I certainly feel much more pressure to conform to religious extremism than I do to atheist extremism.
What our government is doing is nothing short of pre-mediated murder. If there is any justice Bush, Cheney and all their henchmen will die from the same type of slow, painful death that they have condemned Ms. Gorman's client to suffer. Their callous disregard for human life is absolutely infuriating. Bush and Cheney should have both been impeached years ago for their crimes against humanity and only a cowardly Congress has kept them in power to ruin more lives.
