Holt Video Very Interesting

I was finally able to watch the Holt video today. It was very good and I hope that Glenn will follow up on what happens with this bill. Listening to Mr. Holt talk about the anthrax attacks reminded me of a story I read about earlier today where a company in Austria had an "incident" where contaminated flu virus containing the bird flu virus was "accidently" sent to another company. Here's an excerpt from the article:

People familiar with biosecurity rules are dismayed by evidence that human H3N2 and avian H5N1 viruses somehow co-mingled in the Orth-Donau facility. That is a dangerous practice that should not be allowed to happen, a number of experts insisted.

Accidental release of a mixture of live H5N1 and H3N2 viruses could have resulted in dire consequences.

While H5N1 doesn’t easily infect people, H3N2 viruses do. If someone exposed to a mixture of the two had been simultaneously infected with both strains, he or she could have served as an incubator for a hybrid virus able to transmit easily to and among people.

That mixing process, called reassortment, is one of two ways pandemic viruses are created.

There is no suggestion that happened because of this accident, however.

How About Sept. 27th?

@Arne

I would rather discuss 9/16 or 9/29, but no takers.

Greg Craig - Conflict of Interest?

I just read an interesting post about Greg Craig on DU. I can't find any other story about this that corroborates the charges but thought you guys might be interested in this. I don't know anything about this attorney whose made these charges but I thought someone here might know of her.

Self Promotion Part II

I can't believe I screwed up my own self-promotion comment. LOL Pardon me while I try again.

Well seeing as how there are so many people here who are off topic on 911 I thought I might as well shamelessly promote my diary at Daily Kos and the Oxdown Gazette.

Prop 8 Coverage on MSNBC

The MSNBC coverage wasn't bad. They talked about the issue before the Supreme Court was whether prop 8 was an amendment or a revision and went into detail about why the question is important. They also showed the protesters again.

@Oral Arguments on Prop 8 begin in twenty or so minutes

Omooex, MSNBC just said that they were going to have a live report about the prop 8 protests. They showed some footage of the protesters as a teaser just a moment ago. They are on commercial now.

Broder the Tool

I know I'm way off topic with this but I just had to post this. I just read David Broders column for today and couldn't believe what he did. Here's the comment I left on the WaPo site:

"I was allowed to sit in, with the understanding that I could write about the discussion but not quote anyone by name." - David Broder

David Broder you are such a tool. If you were any kind of journalist you would have laughed at these people when they proposed such an arrangement. Anonymous sourcing just to give cover to private citizens who want to criticize the administration? Good grief. It's not like you had to do this in order to get important information out to your readers. This was just run of the mill arm chair quarterbacking from these people that should have been on the record or not at all. You are a disgrace to your profession.

Can you believe this guy? Access journalism at it's worst.

@ ganjuerrilla

Bush & Cheney started Cipro on 9/11.

WHY?

I don't know the answer to your question, ganjuerrilla but it's a good question.

On the night of the Sept. 11 attacks, the White House Medical Office dispensed Cipro to staff accompanying Vice President Dick Cheney as he was secreted off to the safety of Camp David, and told them it was "a precaution," according to one person directly involved.

Thanks for linking to the video. It was a beautiful moment, wasn't it? I can hardly wait until we have similar "beautiful moments" with Addington, Rove, Cheney, Feith, Bush, etc. in the witness chair.

Stereotype?

The righties have the Birchers...

And, then there are the "truthers." Daily, it now appears.

-- Strangely Enough

Well lucky for all of us that a lot of the people in these two groups that you've pointed out happen to agree with us that there should be criminal investigations and prosecutions of those responsible for torture. And I for one welcome their support.

Just as in any group, some of their individual members may be irritating in their interactions with others but a lot of them are very considerate and respectful of others. I don't think lumping them all together is very beneficial for any of us.
