Forgive me for a little shameless self-promotion. I posted a new diary on kos that deals specifically with my rep. John Yarmuth and his YES vote on FISA. I hope some of you will check it out and post a comment to let me know what you think.
Quid pro quo for FISA vote?

FABULOUS ARTICLE, GLENN!!!
You stole my thunder, and made the point far better than I could. I wrote Bill Burton with copies of portions of your article today. Do you have the e-mail addresses for any other Obama insiders? It would be very helpful to bombard all of them, rather than just Mr. Burton.

farbie, I too thought this was a fabulous piece. I asked Robert Wexler to pass it along to Obama yesterday when we were on a chat with him at Firedoglake. He said he would but who knows? I figured it was at least worth trying. You never know what little thing will actually help.
"Wesley Clark just destroys the media narrative that being a prisoner of war is somehow the “experience” necessary to be Commander in Chief, much to the dumbfounding of host Bob Schieffer."..Reilly
It's even worse than CNN hysterics...MSNBC had on a representative for McCain and Obama to discuss Clark and the Obama person said Clark was overreaching. It's amazing. They are their own worst enemies.
Thanks for correcting me on whose quote you were using. My apologies to Nicole Belle.
I'm really amazed that the Obama camp has thrown Clark under the bus on this one. I thought Clark's statement was not only accurate but I thought he made a very careful statement which included complimenting McCain for his service (unlike Swiftboaters who attacked Kerry for his). In my mind, whoever is advising this campaign is not doing Obama any favors by encouraging him to antagonize supporters. The GOP are going to use McCain's POW experience throughout this campaign and now Obama has basically neutered Clark as a surrogate for him.
Great news about the Obama group. I signed up on Friday #826.
Lt Gen Robert G Gard has a diary up on kos defending Clark.

2. While Ford pardoned Nixon for crimes prior to any actual indictment, this was never tested in court. Do you forsee any constitutional problems with a pro-active pardon, a pardon without any actual indictment attached to it? = dawkinsfan00
I don't know about constitutional problems in the telecom case but our Kentucky Governor (Fletcher) did this very thing when his administration was embroiled in a hiring scandal and his blanket pardon move was upheld by our Kentucky Supreme Court. What's more the Grand Jury was not allowed to continue indicting anyone who was covered by this blanket pardon. The blanket pardon didn't specify particular people but a class of people who had participated in the hiring investigation. The Court also ruled that the Grand Jury could issue a report on their findings but could not name the names of the people pardoned.
I guess you got your answers. lol
Are you referring to your own close encounter with Glenn earlier today?
In case this hasn't been posted yet, here is a link to the NYT blog where people are commenting on Obamd and the FISA bill and how the media is covering FISA.
Obama Backlash in His Online Backyard

Glenn, thanks for the link to the Soderberg piece. I only wish there were a place to make comments about it on the LA Times site.
I'm also glad to hear that a full page ad has been prepared to address all of the deceitful spin being used to push the FISA bill.
I really fear for our country when I see those who are in positions of power, on both sides of the aisle, use so much deception in their efforts to trample on the Constitution. It appears that many of these FISA apologists are so caught up in the moment of trying to spin this bill to protect their fellow politicos position that I wonder if they've even given much thought about the true consequences if their side actually wins? For so many of these people it appears that principle and Constitutional protections are nothing more than a luxury that suckers who just "don't get" politics harbor. And that "real" political pro's know that as long as you can get elected everything is negotiable including the Constitution.
Hey Glenn, maybe Ms. Soderberg is a David Broder fan. That would certainly explain her deceptive op-ed. Broder is the "dean" of deception.
In his July 3 column he cynically uses the work of patriots in 1974, who rightfully held a lawless president accountable, to pretend that everything is hunky dory in 2008 even though very few patriots exist in 2008 who are willing to hold an even worse, lawless president accountable.
"In response, the American people reminded Richard Nixon, the man they had just recently reelected overwhelmingly, that in this country, no one, not even the president, is above the law. They required him to yield his office. That is not the sign of a nation that has lost its sense of values or forgotten the principles on which this system rests. And that is something worth celebrating on more than the Fourth of July."
