Barry Obama is a political chameleon in the truest sense of the word.
You are absolutely correct. I first noticed it when he practically channeled Edwards on the campaign trail in order to appeal to Edwards base. I also noticed the fake southern accent and couldn't believe it at the time that no one in the media said a word about it. For me it was obviously fake and not a good sign about him as a potential nominee.
After his disgraceful stance on FISA we now know that we better apply a lot of pressure to him from the left so that he might at least swing back to mouthing progressive views to keep us on board instead of mouthing the conservative ones he's been doing since capturing the nomination. At least the progressive words may increase our base of support even if he has no intention of following those words.
I very rarely read Politico.com but while doing a google search I ran across this story.
Netroots feel jilted by Obama's FISA stand

Don't Give em Hell Harry is talking.
Harry received call from Hoyer pressuring Reid to pass FISA - Reid says he's comfident they will be able to reach agreement.
Big surprise, Harry!
Next up...my "fearmongering is good" Senator, Mitch McConnell.
Whacking Democrats as they hand him and his buds their "win".
Grossly irresponsible Democrats who have FINALLY done the right thing.
He's really RUBBING it in their faces.
The day the House voted for FISA there was also a House hearing on Valerie Plame the same day. The Senate is now poised to vote for FISA and you guessed it...we have another Bush scandal hearing going on in the House...this one on detainee interrogation with Mr. Addington (if he shows up) and Mr. Yoo.
So many scandals, so little time.
A lot of us observed the FISA vote rationalization made by Obama supporters both inside and outside the media. When I checked some of the blogs yesterday there were still quite a few crtical comments about Obama but the "it's ok if Obama does it" crowd were creeping up on them. Today when I checked some of the stories at HuffPo there were even more comments by the blind Obama followers. Not only were these people making excuses for Obama but they were also attacking those people who were inconveniently still speaking truth to power. I'm sure Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Alter, to their shame, can take partial credit for the increase in Obama apologists.
It's sad to see that like the Republicans the Democrats are also cynically manipulated into renouncing their principles out of fear. In the case of the Republicans it's the fear of terrorists. For some of the Democrats who support Obama it's the fear of losing the election that causes them to go along to get along.
Franklin Roosevelt was correct when he said "we have nothing to fear but fear itself".
I hope someone on the House Judiciary Committee can get under Addington's skin enough to trigger a response from Addington that let's the real Addington come through. Right now he's trying oh so hard to pretend he's a mainstream kinda guy whose just so misunderstood.
Gee do you suppose Obama's support for the 2nd amendment today is a hint to all of us that when the government violates our 4th amendment rights through FISA that we should just shoot them? Nah. But it's nice to know that he doesn't want to see all of rights eliminated(at least not yet).
For those Obama supporters who are knocking Glenn and those of us who share Glenn's view about challenging your leaders (even Obama) I think you would do well to remember this quote from Obama, himself.
I’m asking you to believe - not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington…I’m asking you to believe in YOURS…Barack Obama
Glenn and those of us who support his view are doing exactly what Obama advocates. We aren't waiting for Obama to change things all on his own. We are speaking up and letting Obama know that we want that change and we're willing to fight for it and that if he's willing to lead on this issue we have his back.
You can't battle powerful interests without having the voice of the people to serve as your armor and your sword. By showing Obama that we are willing to stand toe to toe with him in this fight we provide the weapons that he needs in his arsenal to fight this epic battle against the powerful moneyed interests who want the FISA bill passed.
When we retreat and refuse to stand up for our own rights we dessert him and ourselves by not providing him with the collective voices of the people that are so necessary for him to be able to fight for us. We have a champion but we have to be willing to be his armor and sword if we hope to change this country.
I haven't done very many kos diaries (not much of a writer) but after watching the fued on kos today I decided to post one tonight. I hope some of you will check it out and make a comment.
