[Read the article: Will Congress denounce Rush Limbaugh?]

I won't get into a pissing match with you. You're a Rush Limbaugh fan who relies on the wingnut NRO for support. That speaks for itself.

    We know, we know...

    *sigh*

  • Whatever floats your boat, Andy.

[Read the article: Born-again sneaker freak]

What an amazing country we live in, where people can spend so much time and energy on sneakers.

  • "Can you defend America?" Who are we voting for, Superman?

[Read the article: Rudy, Mitt, Fred or John]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of all the idiotic criteria for picking a President, the quesiton of whether he or she can "defend America" ranks up near the top. Any President can defend America, and any President will defend America, if by defending one means that the President consults with his or her cabinet and Congress and military officials, and acts accordingly, i.e., making credible threats against our enemies, or striking out against them with our armed forces.

Hell, even a fat, weak and cowardly wimp like Rush Limbaugh could "defend America." All he would have to do is tell stronger and more capable people to make it happen.

What the Repugs really mean when they say, "defend America," is to act like vicious bullies and heartless murderers. They want a macho fool who can drop bombs on countries which flout our empire's aspirations. They want a macho fool who can send overwhelming forces to some pathetic little island nation in the name of freedom (and business). What Repugs do not want is a thoughtful leader who might question the necessity of spreading death and destruction around the globe, simply because we happen to be the biggest gorilla in the jungle. The fact that even the tiniest, most downtrodden gorillas can attack us in our sleep never occurs to them. It's all about showing the world who has the biggest dick.

In that regard, the Republican Party does have a logical strategy: the nominate the biggest dick they can find.

  • The high cost of eating fish.

[Read the article: The fish-eating conundrum]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If people are going to eat fish, they ought to know just what is involved in obtaining that fish. Taken from a letter to the Washington Post, dated 10/06/2007:

"One of PETA's staff members went out with a commercial gill netter, and she watched as fish after fish was violently extracted from the net, hundreds of fish squeezed and torn out of the tangle. From the net, the fish were tossed into a metal bin; many were vomiting up their guts, their eyes bulging from the pressure changes. Their gill arches were slit and they were thrown into the next bin, where they twitched and gasped, slowly bleeding to death."

If you are comfortable with that, then so be it, but if the above bothers you, there are vegetarian sources of Omega 3 and 6 available.

  • Thank you, Ronald Reagan et al.

[Read the article: Life shouldn't have to take Visa]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If you've seen the commercial, contrast the shiny happy beautiful people swiping their Visa cards for a mere coffee, against the sad sack shlub who tries to pay with cash. Message: cash is for losers.

My message to Visa: you can go to hell.

This borrow and spend mentality was brought to you by Ronald Reagan and continues with George W. Bush. Don't save, use credit, destroy your and your kids' futures; on the other hand, Wall Street makes out like bandits. How very Republican.

  • Today's Republicans: America's brownshirts

[Read the article: The Republicans vs. the injured child]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's time to recognize what we are dealing with. The Rush Limbaughs, Michelle Malkins, Free Republic members, and other rightwing extremists who are viciously attacking the Frost family are EXACTLY the kind of people who would have eagerly joined the Nazi party in Germany if given half a chance. They are hatermongers and paranoids and sociopaths.

Paul Krugman of the New York Times wrote recently that today's Republican party attracts a certain personality type. That is correct. The Republican party has become the party of hate. Every country has this kind of political party, but they are usually marginal. Unfortunately, that is not the case in the United States.

Today's GOP is the enemy of freedom. They are un-American to their core.

  • Should families live in tin shacks before being helped?

[Read the article: The Republicans vs. the injured child]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Alchemisto wrote: "Should they be forced to sell their assets, Or should the goverment provide assistance? It's a much more complicated question than either democrats or republicans want to answer."

I seriously doubt that either Democracts or Republicans do not want to answer that question. Regardless, is that what our "great" nation should be reduced to? People giving up all their assets, living a bare minimum existence, in order to have health insurance?

I will accept such a scenario only if every single Congressman and Senator and the President are forced to sell all over their assets and live in tin shacks before being given taxpayer-funded health insurance.

  • Senator Kennedy: Isn't torture grounds for impeachment?

[Read the article: We must ban secretive U.S. torture]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Torture is a crime against humanity and prohibited by the Geneva Conventions and other treaties. Given that the President and Vice President, and others in the Bush Administration, have actively pursued the use of torture on prisoners held by the United States, is this not ground for impeachment? If not, then what is (besides consensual oral sex)?

The Democrats should move to impeach Bush & Cheney.

By the way, please ignore the rightwing trolls who have crawled out from under their rocks to insult you. They are the scum of our country.
