Original article: I hate my cat!

Maggii, your advice is inhumane

First off, the LW rescued the kitten when it was one day old. That is not a feral cat by any stretch of the imagination. I rescued a bunch of kittens (and their scared stray mother) who were about 5 weeks old, and we placed each and every one of them, and all of them are happy and "normal" pets. We kept the mom, and she's become a loving addition to our home.

More importantly, your advice to "drive the cat out to the country to place where there are lots of barns and horses and release it" equates to this: doom the cat to a slow and painful death from starvation, disease, or predation by another animal or scummy human. This cat has ZERO experience living on its own in the wild. All this cat has known has been living with people in a house and getting fed from a can or a bag. Don't delude yourself: the people who dump animals out in the country are committing acts of heartless cruelty.

Race talk brings out the bigots

"Pearlman always goes after Black players with a vengence part of his penis envy pathology and no doubt part of his white/jewish male/ issues with regard to superior Black talents."

- Thrasher

Thrasher, based on that comment, and others available to anyone who wants to wade through the swamp of your other comments, you're just another foolish bigot. The fact that you're a black bigot is ironic; you need to ponder history.

Original article: Abortion, shmashmortion

Because the movie wasn't about abortion.

I saw "Knocked Up" last night. If it were a real-life story, I would have expected the woman to have an abortion, given the circumstances of her pregnancy. Personally, I completely pro-abortion rights, and also very much against unwanted & unplanned pregnancies by ill-prepared people.

However, this move was not about the issue of abortion. It was a comedy about the travails of two completely unprepared people facing parenthood. As Ms Clark-Flory pointed out, if there was an abortion, there would have been no movie. Discussions of abortion in the movie would also have shifted the focus of the movie.

Still, I am disappointed that the moviemakers didn't have the cojones to actually use the word "abortion" even once in the script. Say it loud and say it proud: ABORTION.

Senator Lieberman (R - Israel)

As a Jew, I look at that putz Lieberman and think, "This schmuck equates Israel's national security with America's national security." Even then, he still gets it wrong for both countries.

'Fess up, Thrasher

If white people wrote about black people the way you do about whites and Jews, you'd be hollering "Racism!" at the top of your lungs.

Don't be a hypocrite.

So Lieberman voted against the no-confidence resolution

I guess he believes that Gonzales is good for Israel.

LOL. Whatever you say, Thrasher

You're just a self-deluded racist and anti-semite with a giant chip on his shoulder.

See you in the funny pages.

Mice, cats, and glue traps

In seven years of living in a house with a big yard, I've only had one mouse come inside. We have a bunch of cats, and that seems to deter the mice, but not all of them get the memo. My cats did corner one little field mouse under a radiator. I caught him in a jar and let him free out back. All in all, though, cats seem to do the trick.

I find it hard to believe that anyone other than sadists uses glue traps, at least more than once. They are horrible things. Those of you here who defend them should try empathizing with the mice who die in them. Mice are fellow mammals, they feel pain, and they feel fear. Imagine yourself in their place, dying of slow suffocation and thirst, terrified and unable to move. It's a nightmarish way to go. Why willingly inflict so much pain on an animal?

Anyone who stops to ponder why there is so much suffering in this world -- and that is most of us -- should do all they can to avoid adding to that suffering. If you must kill an animal, be humane and do it quickly. Otherwise, you are only adding to the world's misery.

Original article: The NAACP's sad decline

Racism is illegal

Racism is illegal. Racism is also alive and well in this country and throughout the world.

The NAACP and similar organizations should keep an eye on institutional racism, which is illegal, but given the extreme dysfunction of the black family in America and the subverted morality promoted by too much of black popular culture, perhaps it's time for the civil rights movement to look inward.

Then again, give young people a choice between a fussy and serious subject like the civil rights movement, and the allure and glamour of pop culture (guess which one wins), and maybe there's nothing the NAACP can do to remain relevant.

You're funny, History Buff

If Right-wingers like yourself couldn't whine about how the big bad liberals were in charge of everything, even to the point of telling God to get packing, you'd have nothing to say at all.

What you decry as the "victim mentality" is actually blacks and women and gays and other traditionally second-class citizens standing up and telling people like you that they weren't going to take it anymore.

It's tough to get knocked off the top of the hill, but people like you need to learn to play well with others and start sharing.

P.S. Global warming is real. Sorry to burst yer bubble.

Man can live on vegetables alone

Debra63, regardless of whether or not a person chooses to be a vegan, both the American and Canadian Dietetic Associations have stated that eating a purely vegetable-based diet is healthy for people. You can get all your protein from plant sources.
