Here's what I'd do...

Not that anyone ever asked. Pick a year, spring forward 1/2 hour or fall back 1/2 hour and never, ever change it again.

I woke up yesterday to 3 different times on my various electronic devices. 1 set an hour behind that hadn't been updated, 1 set on time because they had been updated (some manually, some automatically) and 1 set of cable boxes that started the day 1 hour behind then somewhere during the day jumped 2(!) hours ahead, where they still where when I left for work today.

Original article: Rapist No. 1 action figure

Sigh

While not likely to see Grindhouse myself, but for different reasons (can't STAND zombie movies), a quote like "Commenting on the misogyny of these films is hardly worth the trouble" after a whole paragraph about how you aren't going to see the movie was chuckle inducing.

Sigh...

Yes, let's please waste bytes debating the word choice contained in the article in regards to the NRA 'publication' rather than the insanity of the content contained therein.

That thing, whatever you want to call it, is SCARY, and that should be the point of the discussion.

Original article: Akon's hump

Well that explains what he was going on about the other night

Went with the wife to see Gwen last weekend and towards the end of Akon's set he started going on (confusingly) about how he didn't need a certain sponsors money and then pulled out several bricks of cash and thew them into the crowd.

Sadly, we were WAY to far back to get any of that action.

Original article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily

Meanwhile...

The US beat El Salvador 4-0 yesterday in Gold Cup action.

Just saying.

Cuz that NBA 'action' was pa-the-tic.

Great strip (as per usual), but...

RealName is a troll, quit feeding him.

He'll go find a new bridge as soon as something new gets posted on Salon.

Funniest accompanying picture EVER

Can't decide which would be the better caption:

"Man, that guy has a wide stance!"

or

"Wait, I recognize those shoes!"

Either way, I'm ROFL

Original article: The Hooters of haircutting

What?

"And it’s not that I begrudge him being pampered by pretty ladies – I would just expect him to not be so TGI Friday’s/strip club about it."

What?!? That doesn't even make sense. I'm struggling to find any connection between a generic, staffed by both genders in generic, unrevealing uniform, American eatery like TGI Friday's and a strip club.

Unless where you live there is a strip club called TGIF, but that's still a stretch.

90% of the time I cut my own hair, but when I venture out I get an understanding of why a man would want to go somewhere where SOME level of selectivity has gone into the hiring process beyond "have license, will snip" without entering into the whole salon arena.

These days, most of your on-demand hair-cut establishments are staffed by disinterested and/or ESL persons and are really dreary and depressing. So who want to go get a haircut at one of those joints when you have more 'appealing' options?

Original article: The atheist delusion

Um, duh

OK, I only got this far before my head gave the first warning quivers of impending explosion.

"Atheists don't want to think out the implications of a complete absence of deity."

Um, if you are starting with a Universe-view that there is no deity, doesn't everything that follows, in any line of thought or logical progression or what-have-you somewhat imply that you're operating from the standpoint that you are thinking about EVERYTHING with the implications of a complete absence of deity?

Goodness

I sure wish there was a "Not tediously pedantic" filter on the letters pages. Sure would make them less painful to slog through.

Is he supposed to save just US commercial Hip-hop or hip-hop in general?

Because there's a whole lot of it coming from places outside the US now, and from "the underground" inside the US, as other letter writers have pointed out.

Listen to M.I.A.'s Paper Planes (UK based, Sri Lankan born hip-hop artist, how nifty is that?)

Listen to Roots Manuva's (UK) Witness or No Love

Listen to Busdriver's Casting Agents & Cowgirls or Imaginary Places

Listen to Aesop Rock or Wiley and so on and so forth, and you'll know hip-hop from an artistic perspective is doing just fine.

MrMxiplix

"Yes, I understand it's a cartoon - a political cartoon - but how about satire about his positions on the issues, more on his conflicting statements, and other important matters."

Um, did you even read the cartoon - or just jump straight to concern trolling mode?

I'm thinking panels 2-6 touched on the very things you are wanting more of - in a, you know, 6-panel, political cartoon-y kind of way.

Original article: And the award goes to ...

@barryaus

hey, there's these thingies in webposts called hyperlinks.

They take you to places like the CREW website where you can learn things like "CREW also has launched the report’s tandem website, www.CREWsMostCorrupt.org, which offers short summaries of each member’s transgressions as well as the full-length profiles and all accompanying exhibits."

too bad you were being all whatever you were being and missed that.
