MESSAGE TO ANONYMOUS, if that is your real name
[Read the article: Hipster rebel punk outsiders -- 99 cents a dozen]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sorry if I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean you in particular, in fact, your "life experience" didn't even enter my mind. I hope you can believe that, because, as you must know, I don't know you and you don't know me.
Whatever did I say to make you so angry? You must of misunderstood me. I believe my "mindset" is empowerment; believe in the tangible and what actually is possible, not to be gullible and internalize failure. Was I wrong about the ball player and whether or not the competition was better? Weren't they? If they weren't, why was he not professional ball player? What WAS his failure? How was he superior to the other players? I wasn't there, so all I can say, the other players must of been better. That's just logic, however, mediocre you may think my thinking is.
If "The most contented and successful people realize that their success", then define success. Is it winning? Winning what? Is it the biggest plasma TV? Is it a profession? Can a cab driver be considered successful or only doctors and lawyers? Is success understanding yourself? What is it that you mean?
Let's put it this way, you can dream whatever you want, you try to be whatever you want to be, but hey, you might get there or not. That's life, sorry about that, and get on with your life.

Why do you read Annie Lamott?
[Read the article: My son, the stranger]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If you read Annie Lamott before and do not like her articles, why read it now? Why waste your time and space on expressing an opinion that appears you developed long ago.
I do not read Ayn Rand anymore. Read 'We The Living' & 'Foutainhead' and did not like her premise. As such, I have no opinion on Atlas Shrugged, but I could if I wanted to. Like Annie Lamott, Ayn Rand does not vary from one idea, so developing an opinion would be easy to do. I realize Ayn Rand has a following, which is something else I have no opinion.
If you do like Annie Lamott's references to Jesus, stories about her son and self-reflection, why read AND comment? She does little else and obviously it is how she makes her living.
Accepted she does not have any new insights on life's journey, but it is new to her and I enjoy her take on it.
So why do you read Annie Lamott when she is predictable and you know you won't like it? Do you do so just to pontificate?

wait a minute
[Read the article: I don't want my husband at my high school reunion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just scanned the letters (very superficially admittedly). Where are are the scathing, vicious letters I am used to seeing about the letter writer and/or Cary? For once, I wanted to see some.
What is the big [emotional] deal about going to a high school reunion?? What kind a person gets all worked up over something as lame as this?? More importantly, why are the rest of you bragging about your reunion experiences?
It WAS HIGH SCHOOL. Gee, this really rakes my leaves and burns the bananas!
Madness.

So what if you are going to hell?
[Read the article: My Christian daughter says I'm going to hell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Don't fret over it. Accept her prognosis and move on. Tell her your sinful nature gives her great practice for the loving & forgiving part of her religion.
Also, she has got something to pray for at church. O yeah, when there is a call for prayer requests, she has one ready made. Don't need to tell her this, but she can pull out the martyr card at services when she is feeling ignored.
It's all good.
And I say all this with love in my heart. I'm a christian too, but we make our choices and what is hers is not yours & vice versa. I don't cotton too much to hell and anyway I don't believe the bible is WORD OF GOD. That is pure idolotary, which is wrong. So you see, it takes all kinds.
At 13, she craves attention and acceptance big time, preferrably outside of the family. Having a straight-to-hell father can be more of help than an hindrance in her world. She will grow out of it & probably into something else. One day, you may be longing for this problem again.

[Read the article: Hitlers, Hitlers and more Hitlers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Republicans lower taxes", that may be true. But what is also true is that Republicans also raise expenses: health care, gas prices which raises everything else.
Sorry, didn't mean to digress from All-Hitler-all-the-time discussion.

Florida, florida, why is it always florida?
[Read the article: Teen forcibly shaved, pierced for being "out of control"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let me guess, all the adults are white, right? If they are anything but white, asses would be sitting in jail. It's a 'bad decision' when white people parent by hurting their children, but it is a jail-worthy offense when any non-whites have a 5 year old that kisses a kindergarten classmate.

whaaaaaat?!?
[Read the article: How Oprah ruined the marathon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I just didn't get it. After my knee injury, I'd returned to the 5K. I pushed myself into the pain zone, puked after races, and fought my way back down to 20 minutes -- a far more satisfying feat than a four-hour marathon. I was doing all I could do, with what I still had. Yet here was a man whose legs would carry him 26 miles, and he was content to stop for walking breaks."
Are you serious? O yeah, I am sure you are. Well goody goody for you. First let me say how wonderful and superior you must think you are. Secondly, let me say, how stupid you are to the rest of us.
Leave the rest of us alone who don't want to limp or need help to the john from the stiffness and injuries. I've injured both my feet, groin muscle and hamstrings through over-training (you know, doing all I could and then some yada yada BS BS). It ain't worth it. I like walking on my own too much.
