I work in a very small enviroment with 5 other people-conflict is inevitable with any group over 3.

So what the manager should do is declare that he is going to have a work assessment of each and every person, based on their job, and work output. Sit down with each and every single one of them.

Start with the lazy ones, work through that, and then get the ones who do the work. Don't put gender in the mix.

Fire the ones who are not doing the job. Write up warnings for the rest of them, and tell them they have 30 days to either shape out or move out. Back up your words, and start getting rid of the trouble makers-legally. Start citing them for their job performance, their work ethic, and their attitudes. If there is group conflict, you should eliminate it by any means possible, even if that means you have to fire the people responsible.

Be ruthless but fair, and do it yesterday. It won't get better until you start acting like a boss.

If you don't like that option, pass the buck to HR, and have them do it, based on your problems with this bunch of nuts. Bet they will find "alternative work" for all of them.

Cary's answer is only possible in dreamland. You can't make people change by thinking you've got the answers to their problems until you make them realize they're the problem.

Of all the people in the news business who should be more respected and listened to, Dan Rather is one of the leaders.

He reported a story that could have potentially destroyed the campaign of a presidential candidate who was in power at the time-so the story had to be buried, dismissed and ignored, and he had to be fired. His bosses at CBS are undoubtedly part of the RNC's major campaign donators, just as he probably isn't.

No wonder the whole episode got so damned nasty-Rather, being a Texan, had betrayed the "cause" and had brought shame on the home boy-a cardinal sin in Texas. He was right to report it, and he's right to stand by it even now, in the face of a major legal case.

I hope he gets all depositions he wants, and all the information we were denied by the powers that be. I think he was right to report it, and I believe the story-no matter what the RNC or the White House thinks.

There are a lot of questions about Bush's time in the National Guard though, that will never be answered because shortly after taking office, he put all of the records about certain portions of his life under seal.

I hope Rather wins his day in court.

So the kids are making headway into adulthood by being in the show. Big deal. They'll grow up just like their parents wanted, with an attitude and money to burn.

The biggest problem I have with this show is that some very greedy people are making money watching kids run amok and trying to figure out what to do next without killing themselves. What fun!

It's probably based on "Lord Jim", if the producers read it and updated it to now. Not a good ending from what I remember...let's hope that the kids survive better.

One has to wonder as well about the parents who gave the kids up for the show too-did they get paid for their part?

What a waste of signal; it just shows what lack of imagination TV producers have and what greed.

The entire genre of 'survivor' is at the bottom of the barrel with this show. Hopefully it will be the last of its' kind; otherwise we can look forward to even worse shows-perhaps "Life on a chain gang survivor."

I do appreciate the fact that Bush has finally decided it was time to go outside the crony circle to find someone who can lead the DOJ-although some of his rulings do raise a troubling specter of being too much on the side of "they're terrorists and they don't deserve shit".

It is a step in the right direction, and perhaps he will surprise us all if he is confirmed, by being an independent AG who tells the administration that he's going to actually enforce the Constitution.
