[Read the article: Hurricane Al]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It truly is depressing. During peak tourist season, the cruise ships moor downtown and pollute our beautiful skies, creating a low smog cloud over us. Since they come everyday for months, it doesn't really go away until fall hits.
Just goes to show that every corner of our universe is affected by global warming and pollution and I really am pleased Al Gore is taking the American society to task on this issue.
Bush should go and see this "strange-and-portly-man-w/ an-accent"s' movie. Unfortunately, this is what he said in response to the question of whether or not he'll see Gore's movie: "New technologies will change how we live
and how we drive our cars which all will have the beneficial effect of improving the environment," Bush said. "And in my judgment we need to set aside whether or not greenhouse gases have been caused by mankind or because
of natural effects and focus on the technologies that will enable us to live better lives and at the same time protect the enviroment."
I have never seen Bush derided the way this writer derided Al Gore, and yet just look at the laziness, stupidity and ignorance dripping from that above statement.
I wish Bush would become more wonky!!!!!

It's not just Salon
[Read the article: Hurricane Al]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]On Huffington Post, Eric Boehlert documents how the press just can't help themselves and continue to wage a contemptuous war on Gore. Liberal Media such as MSNBC talks about Gore being "one slice short of a loaf" and other bullcrap. As if a wonk like Al deserves that and not our commander in chief? It's utterly ridiculous. O'Hehir's turd of a sentence lies in that dogpile. Why even go there? That's what the outraged readers are wondering? When can Al Gore get written about without any derision or character attack when he is taking his time and money educating the public about the most important issue facing our world?

Swinging Dick, yes he is
[Read the article: It's a man's world]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maddox is Beavis and Butthead all grown up. I bet that was a huge influence for him growing up as a young 20-something watching MTV. The key difference is unlike the two young teenagers, Maddox can actually do something about his trash talk, and that must really empower him. You're a man now!
I can get a chuckle out of that stuff, but most of the time, I find the lame projections of masculinity towards women ("yea, I could totally have her whenver I want. She just looked at my crotch") about as moronic as you can get. How is that funny other than every man can relate to that trash talk? Having been an object of that trash talk, I mostly roll my eyes but this stuff maxes my tolerance; it celebrates arrested development in men.
As for his hypocritical views on women and minorities (eh, newsflash, women are recognized as minorities by business, the fed and institutions), for him to forget the several millenium of patriarchal-dominated societies where women are treated as mens' chattel, whores, told what to do with their bodies, obey men, get paid less, have the babies and raise them and are raped and battered is to show that Maddox is caught is some sort of bigotted universe where he has serious issues with women.
Notice he never mentioned his mother? Just daddy. Daddy was a MAN. Was his mother a whore? Madonna? Bitch? Aw, let's just blame the mom and celebrate the dad anyway; it's more fun that way.

Because
[Read the article: It's a man's world]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We are representative of over half the population. Because there is a very long history of violence and oppression of women. Because we get raped. Because we get forced into sex slavery. Because we get physically abused by men. Because we become victims of polygamy. This is in America.
For the women who have avoided the above, we still get paid less, we get rights over our bodies stripped away and if we want to enjoy in consensual but gratuitous sex, we are whores but men are not.
So before you get extremely defensive about being a man, remember the context of this sensitivity before asking, "why do we deserve this outrage?" It's mens' history towards women and it sucks and should be remembered if you do love and respect women.
Some people find it easier than others to be self-deprecating and that's great. But there are others, like me, where women-degradation is just too easy of a target and it has been one for too long. I disrespect his lack of creativity in choosing the target of humor and honestly, it's just another iteration of the same shit, different day.

An equivocation?
[Read the article: The Democrats and Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sounds pretty straight forward to me; and honest.

Mr. Manjoo: Elections Expert
[Read the article: Was the 2004 election stolen? No.]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mr. Manjoo,
RFK Jr. spent months writing and vetting his argument and evidence presented in this article. You turned around, I'm assuming an equally vetted article in what, 24 hours?
I'm looking for the footnotes as well, and it strikes me how absent they are in contrast to all the ones provided by RFK Jr. in his Rolling Stone article.
In addition, did you use public records as "a source"?
Mr. Manjoo: snarky fill-in temp 'War Room' writer and election expert combined? Who knew? He also has a dubunking turn-around time that would put Matt Drudge to shame.
Well, it goes to show that even the liberal media will throw the right-wing a bone now and then.
