Steve, thinking he has solved the problem, walks out the door congratulating himself with his back turned so that he can't really see what's going on. It's funny because it's so typical.

Liar...and a murderer?

If we have so much evidence of impeachable offences why aren't we impeaching Bush and Cheney yet? Are we waiting for him to bait Iran into the war? There are so many crimes they have committed that we can't prove yet. How can we stand by while they get away with the ones we can prove? Somebody tell me a better way to undo this mess than by pointing the finger directly at the ones responsible. How could we have elected him in the first place? Did everyone forget the biggest S&L scandal of the '80s? Wasn't anyone else angry that the vice presidents son could get away with such a thing? Why didn't we demand a new election after Fox called the election before the polls closed? What about PNAC and a "new American Pearl Harbor"? suggested by Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rove when Clinton was still president? Where were concerns about conflict of interrest when we elected a former president of an oil company to be POTUS? or a major investor in defense contractor companies as VP? What about all the questions about 911 that have never been answered? Does anyone remember the name of the senator who was the loudest voice against the war... he and his family died in the crash of a plane that had an impeccable safety record? What about the executive branch of the United States Government refusing to submit to the authority of the Congress and the Judiciary that was designed to act as a system of checks and balances? Can we even call ourselves a democracy anymore? The questions are unending. If you're as tired of reading them as I am of asking them, please tell me how to stop this. I tried during the first and second election to tell people that George Bush is a liar. Some people still act like I must be crazy, but at least now fewer of them do. Now you'll think I'm crazy for suggesting that we can only be better off with out them and we shouldn't wait for January '09. He hasn't protected us from anything yet. Maybe you're afraid that the threat level will jump to red, or someone other than an american will fly over the continental US with an armed nuclear weapon. We have nothing to fear but ____________ a)Osama Bin Laden (where ever he is), b)Cheney with a gun, c)George with a dictionary, d)fear itself.

Question for Slackie

I also look forward to 2009 as the beginning of the end of all of this. BUT, recently on NPRs On Point, a caller mentioned an obscure government contingency plan that allows the president to remain in office in the event of a big dissaster in the US. Could a president, who creates his own intellegence to start a war, who appears stupid and incompetent in so many ways yet exhibits genius in his ability to manipulate us into staying in that war, create a circumstance where he could remain in office beyond his term?

GS Chandy

Where you are: is it a nice place to visit or is it worth living there? There are, unbelievably, still some people in this country who love GW. Love is blind. What I love about this cartoon is the intense joy expressed in the dance that conveys the belief of a completely delusional man who thinks he can still pull this off. Perhaps we can't see his face because he isn't bothering to look around to see what anyone else is thinking. I'm sure we are all as sad and frustrated about it as you are. Well, those of us who are paying attention anyway.

P.S.

How much control do you have over the government of your country?

Really? I mean if you know how to depose a tyranical ruler why not share your secrets?

I miss the days...

When people would complain about how Bill Clinton just did what ever the polls said we wanted. Government of the people, by the people and for the people. It wasn't perfect, but at least we weren't being completely ignored.

His successors successor?

Let's see... 1 year of Bush + 4 years of Bushs' successor + 4 years of Bushs' successors' successor = 9 more years of war (or occupation for those of you who insist we won the war) providing none of the successors succeed in winning a second term. Forgive my language but this sucks. Oh, and shouldn't Bush show more sensitivity to the victims of this war (sorry, occupation), particularly the American soldiers families, by at least trying not to smile so widely.
