Hatch

Hatch said earlier this week that terrorists are "waiting for the Democrats here to take control, let things cool off and then strike again."

Harrumph. Get real, Mr. Hatch. What has the Administration done to make us safer? As I recall, 9/11 happened when Bush was reading to schoolchildren, Cheney sent the Air Foce away, and Condi forgot to mention the manifold threats that arrived at her desk.

Original article: "The Good Shepherd"

Good "Good Shepherd"

I don't read movie reviews until after I see the movie. Otherwise, it's not fair to the director or other talents that went into it.

I saw Good Shepherd last night. It is a brilliant film--so good, in fact, that I wanted to write a fan letter to De Niro, the director. The acting throughout is first-rate.

It is also an important film. Sad, yes. Long, yes. Beautifully made, YES. There is a message in this film that is vital, but certainly not entertaining: The CIA has never done anything any good. Therefore, it should be required viewing for all patriots.

Escalation vs. withdrawal

Oh how I yearn to hear the words "This war was unnecessary, illegal, and based on lies..." when anyone important is writing or talking about the Iraq War. It would then be obvious to all that nothing positive can come from such an enterprise, and that no amount of troops could ever make it so. Nor would anything else promote a solution other than to impeach this president if he continues not to see it that way, apologize to those we have wronged, and arrange for reparations.

For the democrats to wring their hands in despair, and know not how to fix this quagmire, is discouraging. For those such as Lieberman who maligns anyone who appears to be against Bush's wretched misuse of power and for all who employ what MLK called "Western Arrogance," I have nothing but scorn.

A serious question

Interesting that Cheney, five-time deferment Cheney (he had "other agendas" during Viet Nam War), should be the one to lecture troops about the enemy he attacked illegally. I would be more impressed if he revealed his Secret Energy Policy, still kept secret after numerous subpoenas.

Remember also that his first job as appointed VP was to ascertain the country's readiness against terrorist attack--that was in May 2001. His response was to build a shelter for himself.

Has there ever been another so deleterious to the United States or to the Constitution? Has he ever done anything that was any good?

This is a serious question.

Another comment on "Doubt"

Birkenhead's article needed to be said, and needs a wider audience. No one (except Kucinich) seems to be able to say that the Emperor has no clothes--or that 'the decider' has made not one single good decision. Someone please tell me one.

A good question to ask Hilary (or any of the candidates) would be: "If you were elected president, would you keep the Blackwater mercenaries in place?"

Original article: Rudy can fail

What did Rudy actually DO?

What did Rudy actually DO on 9/11?

The firefighters and police STILL do not have the proper responders.

How do you "pull" a building (Building Seven-Rudy's HQ) unless it has

pre-planted explosive devices already in it?

Did Rudy testify to the 9/11 Commission? How come no mention of Building seven?

The man is an empty suit.

Terrific article...

...that needs a wider audience. Copy and email it to your local paper. Mine wouldn't touch it: it has Thomas Sowell artilcles. Yech.

I called the White House. It took a few seconds while a computer sucked in my number with an eerie sound. "Message for the president?" a voice asked. "I'm unhappy about the commutation of Libby's sentence..." I began. The phone went dead.

I think a General Strike is the only thing that might work. At least it would bring the Blackwater troops home from Iraq.

And don't be too sure that, if nothing continues to be done, that W won't still be in power after 2009.

The 2 things that sunk the McCain bid for Prez.

The 2 things that sunk the McCain bid for Prez.

1) Kissing on Monkeyboy on stage that time. When was that? Maybe two years ago. Had he forgotten all the horrible things that the Bush Cabal had just nailed him with? The lies, etc.

2) Not remembering that the Iraq War--far from a "worth winning" enterprise--was started with the lies of Cheney. Started with lies! Everyone should remember that, as well as understand, as McCain has apparently failed to do, that nothing begun with such lethal mendacity could ever have a positive conclusion.

Right? No.

The Bush Family has always been involved in drug importing. Poppy Bush in the CIA knows all about it. Ask Manuel Noriega what he did wrong when he gets out of the clink.

Original article: The collapse of Karl Rove

Not so fast, Lou...

Karl Rove is not "collapsed". He is out there tweaking more and more voting machines in ways that will only elect repupublicans. The democrats had eight years to forestall this and did nothing about it.

Medal of Freedom

When Tenet was getting his Medal of Freedom was the time he should have turned around and said that the President was full of shit, that it was all about the oil, that Cheney had lied repeatedly, that everything that Colin Powell said was bogus.

Now THAT would have been heroic.

Where are the politicians today that will speak the truth, that will follow their conscience?

Original article: Clinton and the general

Hillary (or Someone) should have mentioned:

Hillary, and all the rest, forgot to mention a few important facts.

One, there were no Iraqis in the room--nor any reporters who had been there to refute the General's generalities. I was surreal, in a way.

Two, the word "oil" was never mentioned.

Three, and most important: the phrase "This war was started with lies and can never, ever, have a positive conclusion--no matter what spin you put on it or how long you want to keep our troops there."
