Huckleberry said, "The Bible was not written to be amended. The Constitution was"
Excuse me, but isn't the new testament essentially an amendment to the old testament? It's the escape clause fundies always cite when asked about the prohibitions in, say, Leviticus. Inquiring minds want to know.
I see I'm not the only poster who asked the question. Good to see I'm not alone in recognizing the obvious ;)
I was talking to a Kansas friend online the other day who commented that she wasn't sure about Obama because of what she's heard about him. "What have you heard," I wondered. "I hear he's Muslim," she responded.
This meme has got to be addressed and clarified, early and often. It *should* be irrelevant in this day and age, but it's not. And it's clear that the dishonest hucksters and shrieking harpies on the right will continue to cynically play on people's fears whenever and wherever they think they can get away with it.
I took a moment to read some of his endless cut-n-paste diatribes here on Salon. (I don't doubt that there are dozens of sites that have the exact same posts). I was left with the impression of a starving, gnawing rat whose only pleasure in life is hating everybody else.
I find it terribly sad that conservatives have fallen so far that people like Greg Neubeck have become their foot soldiers. From the witty and erudite William F. Buckley to the lies and pseudo-literate, hate-filled screed of a Neubeck is indeed a long way to fall. Then again, when you consider that Neubeck's material is lifted straight from the talking points of Hannity, Limbaugh, and Coulter, it's really not a surprise at all.
Talking points based on faulty premises are the status quo for the right wing yappers. If they dealt with only the truth, they wouldn't have anything to talk about.
"terrorist" in any way with Barack Obama. No, I sure didn't mean any of that. Nope. Not me. Why, that would be crass and unforgivable, like associating the words "lying piece of partisan crap" in any with E.D. Hill. I would never ever ever do that.
"Yes, it was so cute to watch wasn't it? An immature gesture from a naive candidate. "
Ah, another dishonest rightist. Even the most truthiness-challenged among you should have noticed that he was responding to Michelle's overture. I suppose, in your meager little world, he should have brushed her aside with disdain, or perhaps slapped her for being uppity? Isn't that how you people handle those situations?
The price of the 8GB phone that Apple will be selling is $199 - vs. the $399 I paid for my now-old 8GB iPhone. That is what their ads tout, and that is what Apple sells. That to me looks like half the price.
Unless you buy one of those "pay as you go" phones, *every* phone requires a service contract of some sort - especially for smart phones, whose service contracts - no matter the provider - are very expensive.
Until Motorola, Samsung, Nokia, Sony, LG, et al begin advertising so-called "true cost of ownership" when they sell their phones, I think Apple's marketing is 100% spot on.
"i say give the kids both theories"
creationism is not a theory. it is religion. do you understand... do you even know what constitutes a scientific theory?
"lack of knowledge is far more dangerous than too much information"
creationists and their supporters are prime examples of this.
"why would you want to withhold an alternate theory that many reputable scientists consider credible"
not one single reputable scientist will call creationism a theory.
now a question for you ettie... what is wrong with teaching creationism in church? that's what churches are for. or do you have another agenda?*
*the answer is of course, you DO have another agenda. it's called "The Wedge Strategy." simply google "the wedge strategy" and read all about what ettie and her ilk are really after.
"[disingenuous] Obama supporters seem to have a great deal of trouble understanding that experience matters to many of us, especially experience at the federal level."
That seems a little.... what did you call it?.... "underhanded." Have you bothered to consider that the "federal level experience" you tout as being so all-fired important gave us Richard M. Nixon? And tell me, AKA... how many presidents in the last 50 years have had the "federal level" experience you seem to value so highly?
That said, it seems more than a little hypocritical of you to prattle and whine about experience when you go on to say you supported, of all people, Ralph Nader (thanks for handing W the election in 2000, by the way). I don't recall his "federal level" experience amounting to much more than being a perpetual failure as a candidate.
This Fox News bimbette Crowley had the audacity of smear yesterday while subbing for Laura Ingraham. In one segment, she asserted that because he dropped the teenage "Barry" moniker for his given name "Barack" that he was actually sending a coded signal that he was really a Muslim. (I dropped my teen name "Denny" when I became an adult - does that make me a Muslim?)
It disgusts me that this racist drivel goes unchecked - liars like Crowley need to be tossed into Guantanamo for the duration of the election cycle.
