McCain's identity crisis

Walter...indeed...what an honest, comprehensive synopsis of McCain's identity crisis...unfortunately for him, I was a 2000 independent supporter of his in Florida here. But, and, now...I don't recognize the guy....he is a bit schizophrenic in my view 2008.

His campaign was so badly contstructed, I actually thought it must be his age and stress triggered PTSS, medical at the least, as he demonstrated confusion in this race so consistently. In part I thought this as a justification of my past support of him; I was actually politically embarrassed that I once supported his nomination? He is unrecognizable.

Judgement he once had, was abandoned, demonstrated thru-out this campaign, including his message, mission, negative campaign and pick of a "politics first" candidate. Ruinous indeed to his image and judgment factors.

He cowtowed his Maverick for a small segment of the voting population and may I add, the most damaging segment to the RNC...the religious right. They are isolationist, not holier then thou in my view; not country first either. McCain was beholden to a slice of the pie, rather then the whole? Disappointing to say the least.

I am disgusted with the Republican party and its ideology. I will vote and welcome an Obama Presidency and dominate Democratic congress and senate to get things done for all of us and not just for the religious sum...[some]. Thank you.

Bush is a delinquent kid, a brat, who needs to finally be called out and disciplined.....

Not as retribution nor vengefulness; not as vindictive nor dishonor. Not as hate nor proof nor righteousness...Not from any other spirit, than that the American people need an explanation from Bush.

American's have walked around for eight years confused and frustrated. They have elected a new President now (Obama) out of demand for change in every aspect.

It is out of respect for the American People and to protect and uplift the office of the President once again, that the Bush administration and its Justice department that enabled wrong doings, that this administration be cleaned up by investigating.

It is not so much in the prosecution of all or some including the President, it is in so doing and revealing the wrong doings that they suffer humiliation and more important, the American people begin to heal...deeply injured and deeply in need to heal some wounds inflicted by this administration on the World.

Or, like a bad kid, undisciplined, he perpetrates his out of control, destructive behavior and scams his legacy in lies for history. He should not have that privilege...not have a good legacy for he wasn't a good president...not at all.

Americans must hail those wounds to help move us on, while we hail the election of our President Obama, for having the insight and desire to help us all heal who were at the effect of the George Bush Presidency...his negative effects globally as well.

It is time to move on, but also to put things straight, clean up the Bush shambles he leaves behind and to restore the image, respect, honor to the office once again, albeit to refresh our land.

George Bush has been an abomination and he should carry the baggage that he leaves behind that we hand him out the door to share our mire and despair due to his atrocities.

A shameful person is Bush in my view...shame is what he brought to my soul as an American. I would like an apology from him to me, to the American people...to the world really...for the chaos he leaves us, as his legacy. May it be published in books and may the humiliation he laid on us, be laid where it belongs and follow him through his remaining years.

Thank you. May God Bless President-Elect Obama as he helps build and renew our America.

De-railing of the "straight talk express"

With respect to the obvious mentioned by the respective and respected republican contributors to this article, the Republican party has simply placed all of its conservatism in one basket.."Evangelical". However, in this election, it was outstanding how they were silent in this election which proves prayers due work, even for secular democrats and independents as the religious right would label us...I am frankly sick of them and like Palin, tey should stay home and think BIG PICTURE not more of the same annoying, no place social issues...life move forward, not backward and there are ":bigger fish to fry" so to speak.

I believe this era will be tagged "The Enlightenment and Awakening" era for Republicans, for they have lost their way and fell asleep in Life. They lost their identity and as their party suggests, they are a bit schizophrenic at this time. They need a young, diversified leadership going forward or they will die. (period)

One caution I make to the pundits representing the party on the airwaves, press...they are defending nonsense and angry. I see it and hear it in the Buchannans, the Scarborough's, the Limbaugh's the Fox News pundits and yes, especially in Ron Christie respectfully. There needs to be some humility in all; there needs to be some sound assessment of their current President's ills; there needs to be some intellectual reality, rather than appearing to protect looser's and defectors and lousy policy. The ego needs to come out of their positions and they need a more sober approach or they will help and hurt their own party's irrelevance now or in the future.

I find Christie et. al, arrogant, elitist, angry in their positioning with respect to their losses before the election and after. They are defending loosing management and concepts and they need to bring new ideas to the table without the hostility they often show in defending Bush, McCain, Palin and the like...they are all old school ideolgogs tha need to re-group and resurrect their ideals and mission.

Thank you and all the best, LL, Independent in Florida, a 2000 McCain supporter, a 2008 Barack supporter with pride in my vote to help elect him.
