Deafening Media Silence and the Espionage Trial

Glenn

Just set up an account though I’ve been a reader since before Salon. Have one of your books. May even have to subscribe to Salon. I’ve cancelled my subscription to Time and Newsweek so I’ll have some extra cash. (Actually I didn’t cancel them just let them lapse…I’m not one of those jerks who cancel a subscription every time they read something they don’t like.)

Many of us are beginning to wonder about the deafening silence of our main steam media concerning the espionage trial of two former AIPAC employees. As you know I’m sure, the trial was continued from June until September. I’ll bet that most in the main stream media are aware of this also. Yet nothing. I would think this event would be newsworthy. A government employee now imprisoned, gives classified documents concerning Iran to two high ranking AIPAC officials who in turn provide these documents to our goodiest and bestest friends at the Israeli embassy. A case loaded with first amendment issues that the media is usually all over. I would think that those media giants Mathews, Blitzer, Hannity, Oberman and all the rest would be blathering about this for months. This is the Scooter trial and Abramoff scandal rolled into one. Yet nothing.

This almost looks as if it must be the work of cabal or something. Now I know cabals don’t actually exist because that is what we are told. But who should we believe, Alan Dershowitz or our own lying eyes.

If I have missed a prior post on this topic let me know. You did say there would be no restrictions on what you do here at Salon didn’t you?

Greenwald Misses the Point

I have never quite understood your position in the AIPAC espionage matter. If I go back to March of 2006 I see however that you agree about the dearth of reporting on this case. You wrote then:"One of the most under-publicized and under-discussed news events is the ongoing criminal prosecution under the Espionage Act of two employees of the American Israeli Political Action Committee ("AIPAC")". I see that you also have provided some limited commentary about the trial since. I don't consider you to be a member of the main stream media and my comments were not really directed at you. I recognize that you have been critical of the lobby. And you have done a great deal to expose the neo-con fraud in efforts to justify the war. You have also been very critical of the media. Given the magnitude and importance of this case, notwithstanding what you or anyone else may think about it, there is virtually no reporting. That in my judgment is far more important than the case itself. Do we have a free press or not? Is reporting on certain topics simply not tolerated? And who is it that does not tolerate? I don't believe you have considered this question. I think it is an important question.

Carlson?Goldberg? Why Not Blog About Professional Wrestling? They Get Better Ratings.

"I've written several times about the AIPAC espionage trial. I've written even more times about the influence of AIPAC. If you're actually interested in that, you can Google it, rather than coming here and implying - based on nothing - that some secret cabal is effectively intimidating me from writing about what I want."GG

It wasn't based on nothing Glenn. Didn't Salon recently decline to publish a piece that it had originally commissioned by Christopher Ketcham about the spying of a foreign nation on the United States? The DEA reports in that matter were very interesting. Once again it seems like something the public might want to know. And no one to publish it. Well except Counterpunch of course. Is there a pattern here Glenn? I know it is unfair that we hold you to a higher standard than the main stream media, but we do. You started that ball rolling.

And So the Name Calling Begins...Pablonius Erectus

"Meanwhile, tit-mouse liberal wb is complaining that GG isn't everything to everybody. At the very least, do some fucking leg work and post a link for the story you think is so important that GG should make time to research, write and edit--just for you. Better yet, write your own blog, you whiny brat."

I'm disappointed. It usually takes more than a few posts on a blog before the lowest form of blogger floats to the top of the blog toilet tank. The insidious name caller. I think GG can speak for himself and knows exactly what I'm talking about. As for you,I have given you more than enough information to figure it out if you are interested.

For One Good Reason Ask Norman Finkelstein

"There are many reasons why the establishment media is incentivized to ignore or minimize the work of political bloggers, and none of them is particularly difficult to discern."

Finkelstein is not exactly a political blogger and look at all of the media attention he received with his books. You may have overlooked the real reason you are being ignored. Maybe he can help you. I think he has some time on his hands.

Glenn's blind eyes

"It's hard to talk about "they" this way - in terms of motives - because they are not monolithic."

On certain topics they certainly are monolithic.

What Did Friedman Have To Say About The High Fiving Mossad Dwarfs In Liberty Park?

Check out the maps in Attorney Gerald Shea's memorandum showing where these Mossad Goons lived compared to the 9/11 Hijackers in New Jersey and Hollywood Florida. If Israel knew about 9/11 and did not tell us should we all still love Israel? http://homo-sapien-underground.blogspot.com/2007/11/if-israel-knew-about-911-and-did-not.html

ondelette... check out those maps they are just the beginning. a picture... a thousand words

Forget about the Islamofascists. I think we need a Zionist treason awareness week on our college campuses. We could also use some news coverage on things like this or maybe the AIPAC espionage trial don't you think.
