Glenn poses the question, "What is the difference -- specifically -- if Steny Hoyer and Rahm Emanuel have a 43-seat margin of control rather than a 56-seat margin? " The answer should be obvious - the Blue Dog caucus comprises 47 members. 43 is less than 47; 56 greater. A large enough margin of victory, especially if it comes as a result of picking off a few of the Blue Dogs, gives a Blue-Dog-Proof majority in the House. That's worth fighting for.
There was this buddy movie from the early 80s with Gérard Depardieu and Pierre Richard. In it, a woman deceives two of her ex-lovers from her youth, a mild-mannered teacher and a tough journalist, that each is the real father in order to obtain their help in finding her runaway son. It was a remarkably sweet movie, actually. Worth a rental.
But no ABBA music.
Outside of Australia and New Zealand, the use of a screw-top closure is generally considered the sign of a mediocre wine. "Quality Wines" are invariably closed with corks, and usually real ones rather than plastic or synthetic corks. The screw tops are more convenient, and allow greater resealability, but wine people often enjoy the ceremony of using the foil cutter, inserting the corkscrew, and so on, even though natural corks sometimes lead to the degradation of the wine inside the bottle. So in wine (again, outside of Australia and New Zealand, where they're pretty much over this stuff), the inconvenience is actually a market positioning move as much as anything else.
