if polygamy were legalized women would marry multiple men

For Gawds sake, don't give them any ideas! Won't that be great!

"Here fellas, here's a 2x4 for both of you. I'll see the winner in my bedroom to...." No, that's too easy!

"Here fellas, are the blueprints for each of you, 5 bedrooms 3 baths 3600sq ft.

First one gets the inspector to sign off on his place, give me a call, I'll come over and order the interiors and landscaping"

Alimony wasn't enough of a wake-up call for you people?

polygamous relationships in at least several large metropolitan areas that I'm aware of.

Got a phone number? Maybe a link? I'm not going back to those bestiality orgies! The dry-cleaning bills are murder!

You are drawing simplistic conclusions from insufficient data.

All right pal, same place as Burr and Hamilton, Saturday midnite! I presume you have seconds? Probably, if you are defending polygamy!

I nominate this of yours to me for being in the top ten comments at this site for combo of non sequitur "response," ad hominem attack, and general incoherence:

And it might very well win, Mona. What can I say, that's the effect you have on me. I find you beyond belief, and yes, you can reduce me to utter incoherency.

But as I said, and yes inchoherently, you seem to feel that coming to conclusions of which you would be the victim shows some kind of intellectual integrity. I happen to think that knowing what your interests are, and advocating for them, is not an indication of ethical corruption.

And there's no ad hominen I only know, and can only react to, what you tell me about yourself in these comments.

Huh? Are you unaware that currently in the U.S. most children experience divorce, and many are out-of-wedlock births? Polygamy leads no more to "dilution of parental responsibility" than do fornication, adultery, communes in which sexual availability is non-exclusive, or serial marriage/monogamy.

And you know what Mona? Don't expect people to extend you any fairness until you are willing to extend it to them, okay?

Why don't you at least read the opinion before barking up the wrong tree?

Although the signaling and rutting vocalisation of Alces Alces has been described and documented many times, it is usually described as more of a cough than a "bark".

Also, I'm not quite sure what you meant by "the opinion". Did you mean your comment?

And pleasant dreams of imbroglios at the seraglio to you, too!

Me, I got no use for polygamy, I never know who my wife is going to be as it is. Of course, she's every woman in the world, to me. (Did I just make that up?)

  • Oh Mona

my life might actually have been easier if homosexuality was still criminal and no-fault divorce banned.

    I give up.

Don't worry Mona, Your Charle Roark is out there, somewhere.

You are out there beyond me, baby.

  • Wait, Mona!

there are women in plural marriages who speak and write loudly in defense of their chosen lifestyle.

    Links? Phone numbers? Pictures, maybe?

I never realised how much I was missing out on, I've always run my relations with the opposite sex on a New Guinea model.

Oh yeah, I read Heinrich Harrar and said to myself "Those guys have the right idea! Keep a good, stout gourd over it, and don't even talk to the womens, they'll ennervate the hell out of you, take all your joo-joo!

If there was a Honda dealer and a dry cleaner who does leather in New Guinea I would be so there!

and you know squat about my personal background

Only what you've told me, Mona, that's all. I do want to get that straight, Mona. Only what you have told me.

But I do not base my views on justice and policy according to what benefits me personally.

Nope, that's clear, you would never, never avail yourself of any benefit which might benefit others, too. That is quite clear.

But google is much your friend as it is mine.

Screw goggle. It never got me a phone call, let alone a date, or entre' into a world of various and seething sexualities.

I squeezed my zits and sprayed my pits, but it seems I'm strictly nye kulturny for today's swingin guys and gals!

And I've got those goo-goo-googly eyes, too.

  • Okay Mona

You know Mona, It's like the old joke about the photograph: "It's mercy you want, not justice"

So I'll extend it to you, as I require it myself.

Cause baby, you need a whole lot more fairness than I can supply. I hope you get it.

  • Happy to help.

the number of women in purdah who speak in favor of their situation, or the women with bound feet who find a daughter opposed to the practice to be indecent

Names? Phone numbers? Oh Phooey! I give up. Besides, where can you get size 1/2 shoes with stiletto heeels? And those designer burkahs cost a mint! I couldn't afford it.

What was it that girl used to sing so long ago, was it by "The Roches"? Remember them? "Monogamy Shmanogamy, can I bring a friend with me?" Oh Lord, that was long ago. Never mind.

It could be an opportune moment to raise the issue of Bush's own alleged connection to the Nazis via Grampa Prescott

Jesus Christ on a snowboard, I had forgotten about old Prescott when I read about that today. And he got shut down by the FBI for it, too! Thanks for reminding us.

    That's just sad.
