I read Blogs

and of course, my news agregator sites give me referrals to factual and opinion article in the press, and I read my favorite bloggers for their particular slant, or extra expertise on a subject (which they may have brought to their blog, or developed during their writing).

I started in about 2002.

I read them cause, first off, they are right. That is, the news reports I am pointed towards, and the analysis of them more frequently reflects what is actually happening, and is going to happen.

I read them because they speak to me in a language I can understand, that is, the most verifiable available facts are used to draw conclusions and shape opinions based on a framework that I, at least, recognise as a fine American tradition of independent thinking, the common good, bounded by the Constitutional liberties and obligations of an American citizen.

And I don't get the impression they have joined a death cult. While that thought is completely subjective, I can't help thinking its inverse whenever I watch the national news on MSM.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen...

Go easy on old Dixie! After all, you must confess that if you start out with an economic system based on slavery, anything else will seem like an affront, a conspiracy designed to impoverish you, fer sure!

This is Terrible!

Congressional investigations undertaken in the mid-1970s by the Church Committee

So the seperation of church and state has been completely destroyed. I knew it was coming, but no-one would listen.

(sorry,sorry please go on)

After all,

the only thing Libby did was commit perjury, obstruct justice and make false statements to the FBI and the Grand Jury.

Yeah, but today I saw a Middle Eastern lookin' fella who spit on the sidewalk and said something strange under his breath, is any body gonna do something?

Fer Gawd's sake, Jake! This is a family blog! How dare you mention those things. No one else has ever done these things, and I don't want the little Moosers to try, what must assuredly for anyone without the ultimate live evil of the Clenis, be instantly fatal!

Do you want that on your consvience?

Thank God!

I stopped to read through the comments today! If I hadn't, I would have missed:

I would much rather Clinton never lied and teenage girls not think that oral sex is acceptable today.

Except for the rather pitiful overtones of an extremely frustrated adolescence, that one's a corker!

I'm not afraid (much)

of the government spying on me to find out what I'm doing wrong.

I'm much more terrified that the government is spying on me to find out what I am doing right!

And I think that it what they were doing.

Is there any reason

on God's green earth that Gonzales cannot be impeached now? (Not to mention his boss....)

One, maybe. Don't solve the Republicans problems for them. Make them do it. Checkmate them legally, but make them repudiate their own rot, or not.

They'll be impeached, don't you see, 'just before they could set the whole thing straight'.

It's an ocean...

of Kool-Aid

Many of them are just dutifully adhering to the mores and demands of their working environment, and that is why so many of them are bewildered by media criticisms that they are serving a right-wing narrative.

Kool-Aid is all they know; right-wing Kool-Aid has become America.

Impeach, and they will just drink another gallon or two.

This is what the Dems get for going after the "swing vote". They would have been better off to chase the swinger's votes!

Thursday, May 17, 2007 09:29 AM

Don't impeach them!

Never, never, do fanatics the favor of creating their martyrs for them.

Once they are impeached, every single problem we have becomes a problem of the "post-impeachment" era. And all those problems the now-purified (Thank you, Dems) Republicans will offer to solve, "the good ol' fashioned American way, not with those socialistic Democrat solutions and besides, the Dems are still killin' babies. And they'll give all your money to those darker people!"

Hog-tie them politically and legally, but if they are not actively and presently fucking people's lives up, the American Electorate will just guzzle more Kool-Aid and go back to them. It's all they know.

Thursday, May 17, 2007 09:36 AM

I hate to say it...

But the Body Politic, especially the lithe body politic of America is not noted for a surfeit of political gratitude.

If the Dems impeach, the only reward they will get for reminding the American Electorate of what bad choices they've made in the last election, the only reward they will get for cleaning up the mess, will be a kick in the nuts.

American's dislike people who turn out to be right; look at the pundits and the War on Iraq.

It strikes at the very epicenter of their religion! (just kidding, but you know what I mean)

Thursday, May 17, 2007 09:42 AM

All Right, I give up!

Immediately I wrote those comments, all my phone lines and internet circuits were alight with enraged, if ineffable, correspondents. Okay, Okay! Go ahead and impeach if you want to!

Just don't expect any political gratitude for it.

(Ya' shoulda stayed away from those swing voters Dems. I coulds' told ya they wouldn't do you a bit of good!)

Fleeing is fine with me.

Democrats were prepared to impeach Nixon in 1974. He resigned to flee that inevitability.

That would be a consummation devoutly to be wished for. There's no glory in "fleeing", especially pursued by the law. I got no problems with that.

And no, I do not think there is any solution which can undo any significant portion of the damage Bush et alia have done, if alia is the word I want. You guys oughtta know.

Just remember: If the Dems stop the war, it'll be an hour before we won. If the Dems impeach, it'll be just a day before Bush was going to clear the entire thing up.

And then every Repub can run as "the post-Bush" Republicans (which they will posit as a "return" to something, Repubs always hoping time is just about to reverse itself).

Don't do the Repubs work for them.
