What about the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, a Police State?

They won't help. A.S.-b-p S. (b-p) must be faced by the individual and his family. I very much doubt the Founding Fathers were even aware of the condition.

Usually, the degree to which an individual is aware of his own condition can be used to gauge the seriousness of an attack.

Achy, if that is true you are a dead duck, a gone goose whose goose is cooked.

Please don't try to ease your suffering with opiates or other drugs! That only leaves less for me, and goddamit, one of us has to survive!

@ RMP

Mine pale in comparison...

Shit, man, mine just frickin' shrivel and then disappear to somewhere north of my duodenum! Count your blessings, my friend, count your blessings. And besides you're retired, which makes it easier. They won't have Retired Military Patriot to kick around anymore!

@ Good Celery

My dearest Celery, (What an unusual name! I remember Capt. Corcoran, (of the Pinafore) who went to his cabin "with Celerity" but I can't recall who played Celerity) now that you have typed my name in a title-bar at Greenwald's, all other ambition can and will be abandoned. After this, any accomplishment will be as ashes in my mouth, sort of like picking bits of charred chicken-skin off the grate the morning after a barbeque I wasn't invited to. Yeah, that really happened. Ya wanna make something out of it?

@ Aycharaych

My problem these days is that a lot of the equipment made is made (possibly deliberately?) so that is really impossible or impractical to repair no matter how good you are at it.

I got two words for you, pal: Haynes Manuals. They "cannot be beat" I would never be without one.

Science-fiction

Since we're talking Heinlein, it might be apropos for me to mention that went I went to see "Star Wars" I was certain it was based on Asimov's "Foundation and Trilogy". But it wasn't.

Where did I get that idea? Who knows.

@RMP

I just blame my Mom for everything, and we both blame each other for my father's death. He never did look where he was going.

@ Aycharaych

You say that "I've been riding motorcycles" so I can assume you don't ride Harley's. Whatcha got these days?

Sunday, March 16, 2008 10:59 AM

Coincidence.?

Karl Marx - K. Marx - K Mart!

Coincidence? I think not!

Say it isn't so!

"They have seriously declined in quality recently."

Very possibly their car manuals have, but their bike manuals are better than ever, better, for an owner than a factory service manual. I just got one for my Super Hawk, and it's a master piece. Complete, well put together, and supremely useful. Today's motorcycles (I said motorcycles, not Harleys) are more servicable than ever- if you have the information. But the procedures are not obvious, not everything is aproached directly.

Here's an example- I was laboriously stripping down each side of my fairing to reach the engine. A terrible task, replete with plastic fasteners and cracking plastic tabs. Then, I get my Haynes. Whaddyuknow! The entire fairing comes off as a well- braced unit, by removing four screws! Right straight over the front. Never would have known without manual. That right there was worth the price.

'98 VTR 100F (Super Hawk) and a '93 Duc SS 900 and a '93 VFR 750

I would trade any of them for the BMW airhead trio I used to have- R60, R90 and R100s. I sold those when my wrists went out. After the operation I bought "sport" bikes. The only sport I've noticed is how much faster I'm get to suck on the tailpipe of the car in front of me. Where the hell did I think I was going? Also, my wife loved the R60 (toaster tank) and doesn't like the VFR, so she holds that over me constantly.

Up here the car drivers are, actually pretty good. They have saved my life many times, when I have made a bad decision like ignoring my motorcycle driving motto: "Leave no turn unstoned!"

Also the BMWs fixed a lot cheaper and stayed fixed. Ah! the bikes of yesteryear! What I wouldn't give for my Honda 350! Did I mention the lousy mileage all my bikes get? 25!

After the operation...

"I bought "sport" bikes"

And if the lobotomy had been completely successful, I probably would have bought a Harley. I should sue for malpractice!

@ Aycharaych

"you condescending pissant"

I don't know, Aychy, you sure talk like a Harley guy. I'll withold judgement, tho. Y'know, the operation and everything.

@ Aycharaych

Aycharaych, just look at LWMs letter and tell me that untreated Asperger's Syndrome-by-Proxy Syndrome, by proxy, is something you want to risk.

Good Lord man, would you risk ending up like that?

And if LWM he doesn't have a Harley, he wants a Harley, which is even worse.

LWM, we are here to help.

"not a motorcyclist"

This is why I'm a Bokononist and not a motorcyclist.

"not a motorcyclist" There, that proves it- he wants a Harley.

And Asperger's Syndrome-by-Proxy Syndrome, by proxy, claims another victim. It's so sad. Such a waste of human potential.

Speaking of La Strada, I once rode my BSA up the stairs to my girlfriend's apartment in SF when I visited.

Unfortunately, when she opened the door, she informed me she had, in my absence, joined the cult of Sappho in a big way. Then her girlfriend threw me back down the stairs, after stealing my leathers. I told that woman they would be too small for her, but she didn't listen. Ahhh, those were the days. The memories come flooding in, and regurgitation usually follows.

Road Kings

are really sort of nice. My favorite Harley, truthfully.

Did you know the top-trunk will fit 6 large-size Pizzas, in their boxes? If only you could get them home before they're cold.
