  • Obama's chances.

The Republican attack machine - will be destroyed piece by piece and then eliminated by Mr. Obama.

If Mr. Obama does not destroy a whole lot more than that, he will not survive.

Besides political appointees made by Repubs, there are many neo-cons, theo-cons, idiots and lunatics in civil service positions. And that doesn't even begin to get near the criminals who have made the US Armed Forces their personal cash cow and shooting gallery.

If Mr. Obama does not make every effort to investigate, prosecute and lay the facts and the cost of their depredations before the American people, he simply will not survive. Jesus Christ, he has to start by vetting the goddam Secret Service!

Obama cannot move comfortably to the right, if he does not relentlessly destroy these people, they will destroy him

Hilary may, if it is to her advantage, do some of these things. What do you think the odds are? Obama must do them, as a matter of political or even literal survival for his administration. Those odds, I like.

Whether he can, well, that remains to be seen. But I know he must, and I think he knows it to. Or he is very stupid, much to stupid to have run the excellent campaign he has.

  • Obama versus Hilary!

I really got to say, there's two things about Obama that he's got it all over Hilary. Just renders where nowhere, if you get my meaning.

The first, of course, is the number of new voters (and regular voters) he seems to inspire. Judging from the primaries, these people are going to vote for him! He will actually get people to vote for him. That was a trick John Kerry couldn't learn.

That's how you win elections, by getting people to vote.

The second is the panic, the shivering, white-knuckled, cold-sweat panic he seems to induce in some people. I love it! Even more than Hilary, the Obama panic leads to a total draining of blood from the brain, and thought seizes up, and the most amazing things start coming out of mouths, or pens. And remember, its just started.

If he combines those two things well, he could win. And be one hell of a politician for this country.

But I think the Invisible Man panic that Obama sets off in these people is gonna render them impotent, in a way Hilary never could.

Ya wanna break it down; everybody had a mother, and a girlfriend or a wife, or both. Okay, there's at least some point of reference. But how many of those people have had a non-white BOSS?? I wonder if Obama will have to clean out the Federal government (we're talking way, way beyond the appointees which change with presidents) and the Pentagon, or whether those folks will just flee in droves!

Would you waterboard for Obama? I doubt it! Would you criminally invade a foreign country, on Obama's say-so? No, you'd think twice. Would you politicise your Federal department, abridge the civil rights of citizens, relying on a pardon from Obama. Hard to see those people trusting Obama, or his crew. George Bush you could have a beer with. Do you even know what Obama drinks?

See, that's the big joke about Obama "unifying" everybody. Obama could unify enough people that he could very safely leave a bunch of people out and still wield a formidable stick. And the "Obama Panic" will render the opposition impotent.

  • The Invisible Man..

can make a real tough target. Like Ellison's protagonist, all they see is the reflection of their own preconceptions and prejudices. So they only thing they can do is project. And the projection comes out of a darker place than even, I think Islamophobia. So this Obama panic paralyses their brain, and then the vomiting starts.

Who wants to make book on how long it'll be before, well, place your bets, whoever gets to the N word, and a spirited defense of saying it! That'll be fun.

Obama may be the first Democratic politician of our era who has taken, or more likely, had thrust upon him, the knowledge of that heretofore completely Republican gambit: The method of making your opponents marginalise themselves. And I think he's got what it takes. He simply must.

And I can't see the perversion of all parts of the Federal government (as the depradators are mostly southern-extracted) going on; you think they'll trust Obama to get their back with the DOJ? I doubt it.

  • @LWM, with regret

Bullet points? Is that really necessary? Or even appropriate?

We start with the bullet points and I don't like to think where it could end up. Okay, they're not really bullet points, but I bet you wish they were.

This place is on fire! Hundreds of comments pouring in! I've been crowded out and left behind. I'll come back when it's not so crowded.

All you "good Germans" rally around Timberman and LWM... the old-school fiddlers. By the time they say "uh-oh" it is going to be way too fucking late.

I actually despise you demeaning, shriveled old prunes more than BushCo.

Adnoto, this is out of the question, and uncalled for. Can you detail or substantiate your complaint? I'm sorry if I haven't kept up.

  • Sorry, folks.

Okay, some quick reading and I'm up to speed. I didn't know LWM and Timberman had a bluegrass band, and I don't know why there has to be such bad blood between proponents of new and old-style fiddling. I bet they're pretty good, if LWM is as fast with the licks as he is with the links.

  • If you got it...

    I sent this message telepathically.

ESP and Old Time fiddlin'! What a guy! By comparison I'm telepathetic.

can deny that Obama's skin is somewhat darker than the average white person's. How, I ask you, does Obama account for this?

That kind of thing doesn't just "happen", you know! No doubt the result of a series of misceganations that Mr. Obama has not a single good excuse or rationalisation for!

I think Mr. Obama has some 'splainin' to do!
