You Could Be Heroes

But I'm just a 100-pound middle-aged female, hardly a candidate for the Army,

Kasimara

Have you tried, Kass? I bet they would take you! And it's not as if there were no other available ways to help! Homeland Security is desperate for agents and employees, and there is always the private security industry or a military contractor.

Are you just going to sit there, all 100 lbs. of you, and wait for them to come to you? My God, Kass, do you know what they do to a white women. I will spare you the details, but don't count on being one of the 72 afterwards.

For a citizen who is aware of the existential danger posed by the onslaught of Koranic atrocities, you seem awfully unwilling to participate in your own defense. You are not counting on this crowd to do it, are you? Cause I don't even think they care that Islam-a-bad-bad-bad!

And don't let that recruiter give you a "no: for an answer, we need gals like you to hold off the hordes.

Kas, No Excuses!

Now that I think about it, a middle-aged woman who still weighs 100 lbs. could be useful in a host of situations. Goodness, girl, you could be the Joan of Arc of Islamophobia!

But I'm certain you won't stake your life on it.

@Kasimira

That's telling the old windbag Kasi!

And if Mr. Greenwald wants a crash course in writing a clear, concise, well-substantiated, free-from-prejudice, in-context epistle, he could do no better than study your anti-Muslim polemic. That's some real convincin' writin' there, Kasi, baby.

So tell me, Kasi, what'er you doin' to delay or belay the Muslim Menace? Are you just gonna sit there and throw Cheetos at 'em? Yell "Halt, or I will despoil this Koran"?

I mean, what? You aren't the type to just sit there and wait for a big strong man to protect you, are you?

Or are you not scared of those Muslims? Are you that brave? Tell me about it Kas. What should I be doing to balk ending up in a burkha?

@JimWhite

When you're right, you're right! We must attack and destroy England immediately, pronto, forthwith, and right away!

Mad-vertising

Am I the only one getting a big kick out of the mid-page text ads for services and products keyed to the subject of the text?

Right there is your cui bono answer. By now, there is a huge, unregulated and deep-into-the-trough "security" industry.

All that rather than admit that 9-11 was a Bush screw-up, not some new super-enemy.

I wonder how long "Homeland Security" (jeez, what a monicker) will survive Bush? It's useless and corrupt from stem to stern.

And I'll bet the established agencies (FBI-CIA) hate the hell out of those people.

Matrimony a deux

So far human history has found no substitute for the rule of law with respect to the rule by one (wo)man.

Dogfather

I know just how you feel, Dog, my man! I'm married, too. Long time married, long, long time.

Today's the Day!

The first warm, springlike clear day in the Putrid Sound. Time to drag out the Hawk and the Duc, and leave no turn unstoned!

Lemme' go see if the Duc will start- it's been a while.

Quack, quack

Nothing with less than four wheels, though....

Honda makes lots of cars, but there's never been a four-wheeled Ducati.

@adnoto

Gee, adnoto, maybe the difference is that the Bush haters are not now and have never proposed that the best or only way to bring down Bush and the neo-cons and theo-cons, or any combination thereof, is by force of arms. Unlike the others you mention, the Bush-haters feel that our present sent of laws and politics has within it all the civil social and legal power to eliminate Bush and his cronies and their policies from the American government. I will go further and say that most would consider getting rid of Bush outside of these legal, political and social methods to be a worse disease than the cure, if you know what I mean. So nobody answered your question cause it's been dealt with about a million times here.

And the goddam Duc won't start! plenty battery, plenty crank, but no spark. I guess I'll be Hawk-mounted if I ride tomorrow.

@liz1388

How more blatant could Bush be that he was using our troops to draw fire?

liz1388

Yeah, you noticed that, too? But remember, first he had to hang them out (when the whole army staged) as WMD bait! Then, after the "brilliant campaign" to conquer a virtually defenseless country, he really had no "war" to speak of. So the only thing to do was occupy, detain and torture the population, destroy the infrastructure, and meddle in politics (small potatoes after the invasion, but still) and steal, steal, steal, from Iraquis, Iraq, and the American public.

Finally, when the atrocities became too much to bear, Bush finally got his war- with the civilian population of Iraq, with whatever they could scrounge (Bush left them plenty of arms and explosives, it's only polite) and of course, within the limits of their own internal struggles and rifts.

And they can't even "win" that war! Not to mention destroying a country in the process, which is supposed to make them love and emulate us.

At least that's the way I see it. And I'll tell you one undisputable thing, and you can take it how you want: When Saddam was in power, my Duc always started!

@ Orwell

Recently read a biography of Orwell which really filled out the life of an author I knew mostly because of "Animal Farm". If I recall, he spent the first five years out of school in the Burma colonial police, and this is where his views on Empire were forged.

When he came back to England, didn't he disappear for weeks or months at a time into the life of the working poor, which he then chronicled.

@buckyl

I am sincere in positing that LWM is sick;

buckyl

Are we talking about the same LWM? Cause I don't think so, not by a long shot!
