When will the moral conscience of our legislators finally prohibit the energy of this country from depending on the blood, health, and lives of low-income coalminers, who are manacled by economic conditions to face the hellish existence of the proverbial canary? The entire coal industry, along with the tobacco industry, should be outlawed immediately. Let's finally catch up with our more advanced and sophisticated elder brother, Western Europe, and discard the primitive caveman technologies that have kept this once-great nation of ours trapped in the dark ages for decades.
While we're at it, we should also get rid of capital punishment and Christian fundamentalism. Let's at least catch up to Canada'a level of fully-developed civilization.
Will Sarah allow her daughters to dress up as witches for Halloween?
What's a Hockey Mom to do?
Bewitched
Bewitched, bewitched, you've got me in your spell.
Bewitched, bewitched, you know your craft so well.
Before I knew what you were doing I looked in your eyes.
That brand of woo that you've been brewin' took me by surprise.
You witch, you witch, one thing that's for sure,
That stuff you pitch - just hasn't got a cure.
My heart was under lock and key - but somehow it got unhitched.
I never thought my heart could be had.
But now I'm caught and I'm kinda glad to be --
Bewitched. Bewitched-witched.
Witchcraft
Those fingers in my hair, that sly come hither stare,
That strips my conscience bare, it's witchcraft.
And I've got no defense for it, the heat is too intense for it,
What good would common sense for it do?
Cause it's witchcraft, wicked witchcraft,
And although, I know, it's strictly taboo.
When you arouse the need in my, my heart says yes indeed in me,
Proceed with what your leading me to.
It's such an ancient pitch, but one I wouldn't switch,
Cause there's no nicer witch than you.
Somebody has been drinking the McCain Kool-aid. McCain promises toget Bin Laden, help the average worker, and take care of veterans while remaining silent on how he will accomplish his goals. Meanwhile, Obama carefully explains his plans in detail. Obama tells us why we should vote for him, McCain does nothing but make up lies about Obama. McCain is incredibly vague and never explains anything. Sorry, insulting Obama is not enough, we have to hear a convincing argument as to why McCain is the better choice. Vague generalities only work on brainwashed low-information voters such as yourself.
By the way, I don't think Obama is perfect (I wanted Kucinich), but he's clearly more qualified than McCain.
Forget about the abortion issue, can the moderates of the Republican party tolerate a woman who is scared of witches?
Oh no, TVLand is showing a rerun of Bewitched. This calls for an exorcism!
I recently read in The Politico that McCain finally plans to bring up Ayers face to face (as opposed to behind his back) with Obama at the debate tomorrow night. Ha, ha, ha! Big mistake on McCain's part. I hope Obama pulls no punches and calls McCain out for being such a lying douchebag. This will be the perfect opportunity to expose McCain as the slimy sleazebucket that he is! I wouldn't miss this next debate, because hopefully Obama will finally take the gloves off.
She's on the People magazine cover, but they must have made her sit on some little stool or child's chair, because she's sort of hidden in the very lower left corner of the portrait.
No one puts Bridget in the corner!
I wonder how McCain's adopted daughter feels when Obama is ridiculed by a scary looking white cop for having an exotic and foreign sounding name. Does he bring her to the rallies? When she looks into the crowd into the sea of angry white faces, what must she be thinking about Daddy's campaign? Does she know that some of Daddy's supporters use phrases like, "Terrorism is all in the bloodlines"? This kind of xenophobia at the McCain/Palin rallies must be very confusing to her.
You've Got to Be Carefully Taught
from South Pacific, music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein
You've got to be taught, to hate and fear,
You've got to be taught, from year to year,
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear,
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made
And people whose skin is a different shade.
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught, before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight
To hate all the people your relatives hate
You've got to be carefully taught,
You've got to be carefully taught
If it's a matter of education instead of age, McCain is not a good representative of Naval Academy graduates.
Suddenly it's now so clear: Obama is the "good cop" and McCain is the "senile batshit insane cop". The unknown outcome is which of these two cops will win the privilege of exercising Executive Power over the rest of us. I'll be less afraid if it turns out to be Obama. The good cop/bad cop routine works on me, too. Just keep the hot-tempered crazy old man away from us, and we'll be happy to submit to the good cop.
Obama/Biden '08!
Obama is pro-death penalty, pro-"war on terror", anti-gay marriage, and anti-single payer health care. He is considered, "the liberal" or "anti-American".
McCain is batshit crazy. He is considered "the conservative" or "patriotic".
God help America.
"Most attending these rallies are adults. In fact, most seem to be in their 50s and 60s or more. I must be terribly naive thinking that "grown ups" used their heads, listened to one another, displayed common courtesies, respected one another even if they held different positions."
Don't trust anyone white who was born before the Civil Rights Act. Their worldview is totally screwed up by unearned white privilege.
