  • Sam we are writing at crosspurposes here.

I called the current LW a probable narcissist and meant it in the generic sense and not the psychological diagnosis sense. The psychological diagnosis is NPD.

The previous LW in another thread that you are harping on is not likely to be NPD. She is probably not even a narcissist, and, anyway, the psycho flavor of that week was BPD.

Purchase a copy of the DSM if you want to talk the jargon.

The reason the current LW seems to be narcissistic is not because of the first letter or even the second letter he posted here. It is because he posted a fake letter.

    Newsflash Sam: A FAKE LETTER.

  • Oh pooh! I think he made it all up.

I think he is a frustrated, would-be novelist who wanted to see if he could construct a believable character in a letter to Cary.

LW, you overdid the self-centered aspect. Few people are that cluelessly self-absorbed.

  • I was simply trying to be honest, to point out that I had been really, really trying to be accepted by this woman's family

LW, if you really want to be honest, why don't you tell us your real age? Come on and clarify that little point. I double-dog dare ya!

  • RealName, I agree with you on criminal records with three caveats:

(The problem lies with plead downs.)

    1. The initial charge did not involve a crime against a child.

    2. The initial charge did not involve the use of a weapon.

    3. The initial charge was not a crime of violence.

To say that there are people who don't want to work or will not take lower paying jobs in this country is a flat out lie.

This used to be a nation where people got to start over. No more. They track you from birth and they track you 'til your dead.

My car insurance is higher because I got a bad credit report over seven years ago. I can't get the bastards to remove it.

My driving record is perfect. I have haven't had a ticket since the 70s.

  • I think Bush would make a good yard man.

It doesn't require English skills and he likes to clear brush.

  • When it comes to cake . . .

[Read the article: Stalking Dr. House]

I like my Clooney and my Laurie too. However, this article is not the least bit substantive. If I want ET, I will go there. This is not the sort of stuff (fluff) for which I visit Salon.

No more of this sort of thing. Please.

  • RealName,

[Read the article: The president and the peach man]

    I didn't say gun, I said weapon.

I have worked with a few former prisoners in the disability field trying to help them find jobs. It was quite difficult. However, I did draw the line at the ex-child molester who wanted me to find him a job working in a middle school. Fast food for him.

People should be encouraged to start over. People with bad experiences in the workplace, disabilities, and even former prisoners can all make good employees if the job match is right.

About illegal immigration: We cannot stop it. As long as there is an employer market there will be prospective "employees" from other countries trying to come here because of the serious political and economic problems that they face at home.

I just don't think this new immigration law is workable. It is impractical. It is designed to benefit big business while appeasing the right.
