maureen I forgot to say on the subject of wives

I thought this morning that McCain's fixation on Britney Spears and Paris Hilton is that they look remarkably similar to his wife. He is probably the type--you know the kind--who would like to date Paris Hilton, even in his 70's. Perhaps if she were working as a lobbyist they could jet around together.

As for the women I admire, I like Michelle with a little more meat on her bones, and more steel in her step. She looks more like she could put on a super hero cape--in this sense I admire her more than I do her husband.

But TRenee is right she's gotten plenty more than her share of hate around here. I can't believe you weren't around for those conversations (vulgar I believe was used repeatedly and someone posted a link to an article calling her an affirmative action person because of her degree from Princeton and saying that she lacks intellectual prowess---which is funny because I think the equally passionate argument against HRC particularly when she first came to Washington was for having too many smarts...)

In fact, Democratic women have a hard time having just the right amount of smarts for the public...women who look like Paris Hilton perhaps are judged differently. Even if Paris is smart--and to be making money as she clearly exceeds her public image in good business sense--it isn't threatening if you know what I mean...they can still, if they are McCain, call her a frivilous Mrs. Buffalo Chips girl...the vey rich, thin, blond, in image at least "dumb" kind who suits John McCain at 72 as well as that sort of woman ever did...(perhaps its a good thing that the blond woman who recently died who was so criticized for loving an old man...who was only called "beautiful" after she died...is no longer around...perhaps she would be more attracted to Senator McCain than Paris with her gaggle of twenty-something suitors...I imagine this must get on McCain's last grim nerve to be thought of as "too old" for Paris, 26...thankfully, Cindy is decades younger than he is, and looks artfully, decades younger still...)

old010...

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Dean, Brazile, ... are far more dangerous than McCain, Pelosi, Reid, ....

Okay. Please tell me specifically how and why the latter is less dangerous.

Your phrase 'come together' is most appropriate when talking about the DNC circle-jerk.

are you calling me a jerk? Funny. I was raised by Republicans and I will give them this--they are good to eachother. They regard politicians as necessary devils. They would never--my parents at least and the true believers of the religious right--vote for a Democrat because of the dishonesty of a Republican while campaigning. They expect dishonesty in their Republican candidates. They only consider dishonesty dangerous when it comes from a Democrat. I see you agree with them on this count.

And they would probably agree with you that at least politically I'm a jerk. I didn't vote for Bush either time and I didn't vote for Nader either. Since age 18 I've voted Clinton, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Obama. I've been a real jerk toward my country. (But thanks for not using a nastier insult...jerk...jerk...I can live with..)

hasn't anyone ever told you that love sometimes involves forgiveness? Liberals need to stop loving the way teen-agers love, forever and with a big heart over their heads...if you can't forgive him over his FISA vote, fine. But when there is a perfect candidate, a liberal, a candidate of courage, who also stands a chance of winning the white house this year, please wake me up.

Meanwhile 87% of Fox news voters (who thanks to watching Fox news are probably part of the Sam's club voter demographic--de-classed by lack of education--not necessarily money--unless of course they work for Sam's Club) are lining up for a guy who they think "sucks ass." (sorry I had to use their words for him).

Why do you think this country remains in the stalemate it's in? Can't we come together to win this election--and then--try to use the Democratic power in Washington to try to affect real--better--the best that we can get change that doesn't just have to do with Obama but to do with our party and dismantling the messes of Bush...? Please? Just once?

Is this a bad plan?

bernbart

did you see Maureen Dowd's column today?

It turns out Obama didn't write that he was "black" on his application to Harvard. Take that, race-obsessed nation.

Please, my fellow citizens, for once, let's vote for the smart guy. The guy who wrote his own books. The guy who asked for at least fifteen minutes a day to think about things (and for that a columnist labeled him too eggheaded to win).

My fatigue is of pseudo-roques, candidates oiled in economic comfort, last in class...no more Mr. Buffalo Chips....

(although I have to admit a freak-show like desire to watch Senator McCain do that trick with the banana)...
