It's called "Debunking the bunk "de-bunkings": Why Rape kits still matter."
You can disagree--but disagree with my actual arguments...don't rely on Townhall to give you an accurate portrayal of what Palin's critics really believe about her. My essay talks about why to debunk a story--you have to debunk the story itself, not your characature of the story. Did you read the Huffington Post piece, or did you ONLY read the Townhall version? I wonder that as well.
Do you want to know something funny? I actually subscribe to Townhall because I sometimes make comments there, and they sent me an e-mail today asking me to invest in something that would help me to make thousands of dollars or more off of the taxpayer bailout. Did you get the same e-mail from Townhall? If you write comments there, I think maybe you did, and I wonder, what did you think of that e-mail??
Have I surpised you even a little yet? Maybe not. I know that you want to assume that I am some stereotypical cartoon liberal bogeyman that you've read about in conservtive books somwhere...I'm sorry but I just don't fit the profile. I spent 18 years being a Repubblican (or thinking I was one) raised by two Republican parents. To this day, I read the National Review Online. I read Townhall...I read Politico...i sometimes read rush limbaugh's transcripts even. When my stomach is feeling strong enough...you aren't shocking me with your conservative arguments. Honestly, I have Republicans in my immediate family, and almost everyone I grew up with is a Republican now.
But I will be frank about my personal views: I think abortion is a tragedy...and that it's a woman's private right to choose that life that inhabits her body. The fact that sarah palin opposes abortion even in the situation of rape makes her more extreme than most people who oppose abortion....
I could let you know about the lower abortion rates in other countries that may be caused by less political infighting and name calling than we have in this country, and less scapegoating of "murdering liberals"...if so many Americans are not pro-choice, why are so many Americans--Republicans as well as Democrats--having abortions? The rates here are much higher than in Europe where abortion is also legal, for example.
And why did the abortion rates go down under Bill Clinton in comparison with Republican presidents? It's a complicated issue, is it not?
Also, as far as "the" other side of the story...you must already know that many Democrats are anti-abortion too...Obama came close to choosing a "pro-life" running mate that would have made many Democrats happy...and, "the" other other other side, is that many Republicans, especially Republican women, are pro-choice....check out this website...

Pro-choice Republican women consider themselves a (silent) majority among Republicans expecially Republican women. They have more than one website dedicated to their cause, and McCain likely would have chosen a different and more experienced woman to put on his ticket as vice president, but the other qualified Republican women were...you guessed...pro-choice. (Like Meg Whitman...)
So, can you see what I mean? The world is not as black and white as a magazine like Townhall, or even Salon.com sometimes would have you think.
Just think about what I'm saying...and about the wolves...when you call yourself pro-life, aren't you obligated to care about polar bears and wolves too? They are living creatures. Or if you are only pro-human life--aren't you suppose to oppose wars? If you are only pro-fetus, is the name "pro-life" ever seem--too large for what you're really talking about?
Take care. Not everyone you disagree with is an abortion loving bogeyman. Many of us do not love abortion...we just have different ideas about what we should do about it. Many liberals, people like myself, think promoting better health insurance and covering birth control might lower abortion rates for example...Many Republicans only think they need to change the supreme court. That's their only plan. I just don't think their plan is big, or wholistic, or ambitious, or popular enough to succeed. And I don't believe the federal government should ever be powerful enough to force me to carry a rapist's baby.
*peace*
