I hedged my bets by saying
I am most likely....
that means in the end that I'll probably vote for anyone not a Republican. I want to threaten to not vote for Hillary and to have her run a less sleazy campaign (sorry to anyone who disagrees) but I guess I'm not the person to do it. As we all know, threats don't work in our party. At least we have that going for us. People should vote for the person they like most and/or dislike the least. And for the campaign that they trust most/distrust least.
I'll probably probably vote for Clinton IF she is the nominee. But I just worry that Clark would be too pro-military for her. I'd like someone like Dodd....Is he the one running against the Telecom immunity or is that someone else? Anyway--I'm thinking diplomacy, not military, even "nice" military. No offense to Mr. Clark.
truce...but I did just hear about the Iowa email debacle yesterday, and that is pretty low in my opinion. As far as I know the D-Punjab emails never were sent to the public. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
When Obama said that Reagan's ideas had "played themselves out" do you hear his conclusion as pandering? When he went on the 700 club and told them that government sanctioned union for gay people is a political necessity because, among other things, gay people deserve the right to visit their loved ones in the hospital, do you also hear that as pandering? If you do, I think you're in danger of becoming deafened by the political noise.
Sometimes it seems both sides are becoming blinded/deafened to the positives of the other. I think that I read yesterday that you worked with/knew the Clintons at one point? (If it wasn't you--maybe it was someone else??). What is the positive about her/them that you are enthusiastic about in this election. From my point of view, as an Obama supporter, I don't hear a lot of positives coming out of the Clinton camp. I hear "pragmatism" as an argument. I don't hear excitement. I don't hear enthusiasm (except to crush the stupid little ideals of the 'hope mongerers').
So if you were talking with someone who didn't know the Clintons, what would you say recommends them? If the Democratic party is determined to choose Hillary, then they are going to need to make a list of positive reasons to convince the young people who have found positive reasons to support Obama. 35 years of experience will be parsed, either here and now, or by the G.O.P. in a couple of months. What in that 35 years of experience has prepared her particularly for the job in 2008?
Thank-you for your thoughtful comments.
"Is it safe?"
Expediency asks the question, "Is it politic?"
And Vanity comes along and asks the question, "Is it popular?"
But Conscience asks the question, "Is it right?"
And there comes a time when one must take a position
That is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular,
But he must do it because Conscience tells him it is right."
