I haven't lived in town for years, so I can't speak

to conditions there. But I did hear a few years ago that the homeless were out of control, and something should be done. And probably something should be. I've done charity work on their behalf for much of my adult life, and they can be obnoxious. My impression was that SF provided services without setting any rules for them.

But O'Reilly is a psycho. Neither he nor his 'christian' audience lifts a finger on behalf of the oppressed, as the prop 8 issue has shown for the umpteenth time. Until they do, all their complaints about the poor are slimey hate mongering.

Isn't this old news? Obama lurched to the middle

months ago. And he swiped the Clinton policy agenda long before that.

Ya'll are just noticing now? Please.

But the far left have always lived in a dream world. They voted for Nader, remember, oblivious to winner take all politics and *3rd grade arithmetic.

* If Al has 10 apples, and George has 9 apples, but Ralph takes 1 of Al's apples, why wouldn't a corrupt Supreme Court use the wiggle room to hand the presidency to the boss's idiot son?

@Swinick

Actually, I do know how Obama would have voted on the Iraq resolution. He's shown himself over and again to be an opportinist like all the rest. Had he been in the Senate, he'd have voted yes faster than a Saudi arms merchant on meth.

It's just funny that the far left never figured this out.

It's tragic when People magazine makes a better call

than Salon. Hugh Jackman is by far the studliest thing around, handsomer, younger, taller, with a deeper voice. And though what's his name has the better proportions (Jackman is a bit overly puffed), when considering the whole package, (ahem), it's a blowout (ahem) for Hugh.

Linda-English and bungo poney

Very astute. Thanks for the facts.

@ futhark

I knew Bush was lying at the time, and that the war was a give away to the oil and war industries. Big deal.

But I live in Seattle, NY had already been attacked, and people there might have been a tad nervous about another. It's real easy to be brave and self rightous 3000 miles away. Further, oil and war control this country, the congress, media, and all the rest. And voting against them would have ruined Hillary or Obama or any other player. Hillary knew that. Had Obama been in the Senate, he would have known it in a NY minute. It's easy to give a liberal speech to a liberal district.

Original article: Get over it, Clinton haters

I was surprised during the primary when Obama's worshippers

chanted the media's childish insults and disgusting smears. It all came from the right's character assisination in the 90s, and the far left's cherry picking of the most spectacular governing record of our time. When they voted for Nader it was the last straw. To this day they haven't appologized, or even admitted what they did. Talk about delusional. And the hits just keep on coming. They mistook Obama for Noam Chomsky and lost it after the primary when he lurched to the center. They never noticed that he'd swiped the entire Clinton policy agenda from day one. They've shown over and again that they know zip about anything. Who cares what they think now.

Netroots and the rest of the far left are dingbats

who were convinced in three seconds by the media's childish smears against the Clintons. They chrerry picked the most successful governing record of our time. And they didn't notice that Obama swiped the entire Clinton policy agenda from day one: bipartisanship; fiscal respopnsibility; strategic investment; far reaching diplomacy; green energy (thank you Al); healthcare (thank you Hillary for suffering a crushing defeat on behalf of public health); slight upper class tax increases to pay down the deficit, fund upgrades, but leave enough capital for investment; middle class tax cuts to stimulate the economy (because there are more of us and we spend money on refrigerators which help industry). Etc...

This was devised by Bill when he was a leading intellectual in the DLC and PPI. And it was refined by Bill and Hillary in office. Obama and the party know it's the way to govern for the forseeable future. After 16 years, the far left are still too involved with their dream world.

Mexbourian, I totally agree, and thanks

for the comment. Left wingers still don't understand why the Universe at large doesn't fall on its knees and worship their holy wisdom. Meanwhile, they know jack about how the mixed economy works, or even how to speak respectfully to anyone besides the annointed few. It's pathetic.

There's not much he can do yet. Bush is in the driver's seat,

backed by the media and their hoards of free marketeers telling us that pensions destroyed the auto industry, government stimulous never worked, and the neo conservative monetary policy that got us into this mess is the only answer. Of course these are crude lies. But no lap dog moderator dares to disagree.

Bush and corporate media have dumped public money on their freinds from day one, and they'll continue up until the last minute in office.

Watching it is no fun. But I hope the dems will have the stones to go after the creeps and tax hell out of them. Normally I'd be more moderate. But they're still on the take. They havn't learned their lesson and need to be punished.

You're shocked that NBC is suspect.

But you expect us to take the rest of commercial media seriously, probably because they pay your salary. What a laugh.

Monday, December 1, 2008 03:49 PM

Surely ye jest. NBC is suspect because of one bad apple?

But the rest of the news media is a-ok. Please.

I have news for you. The commercial media's number one task is creating selfish and ignorant consumers. They do it by promoting low culture on a planetary scale and excluding educated values from the public square. It works like a charm because Americans are too lazy to open a book, like the Universe white washed and sugar coated, and enjoy having their emotions played like a three dollar banjo.

Wake up and smell the brainwashing.

Excellent job Joan! It was obvious to me twenty years ago

when Hitchens wrote for The Nation that he was a corporate hack hired to confuse every issue with false accusations and misplaced emphasis. You called him on the cherry picking very nicely. The only thing I would have done differently is congratulate him for being able to read minds, and know that Hillary cares only for herself.
