I adored Lind's Up From Conservatism. But he's

joind the rash of dingbat pundits hired by commercial media to flood the public square with nonsense. Here he makes the specific Universal by ignoring critical facts.

The start of his 'Fourth Republic' was 2000 when the media launched the smear camapign against Gore and handed the election to psycho boy. Or it could have been 1991, when the Clintons' devised the greatest policy agenda of our time, which the party will govern with for the forseeable future: slight upper class tax increases to pay down the debt and fund upgrades, middle class tax cuts and perks to stimulate the economy, strategic investment, green energy (thank you Al), fiscal responsibiliyty, healthcare (thank you Hillary for suffering a crushing defeat on behalf of society), far reaching diplomacy, etc...

Hyperventilating over useless historical patterns is mental masturbation designed to excuse us from thinking about real issues, or from giving credit where it belongs. But of course, Americans have never cared a row of pins about basic fairness.

Surely ye jest. We're supposed to go balls to the wall over

some academic apologist for Bush, and ignore the media's massive propaganda campaigns, two of which put Bush in office in the first place.

Original article: Obama surfs through

Oh goody. Camille Paglia is back with a butt load of

adjectives, abstract nouns, and stupiidity.

Excuse me, but Obama won the election only by the media's cheerleading. He may be qualified for the job, but Paglia's hero worship is typical of the uneducated. He hasn't done anything yet to be worth all that hyperventilating.

The Clintons have done more for this country than Paglia could comprehend. And it's their policy agenda, which Bill devised in the DLC and Bill and Hillary refined in office, that Obama will use to get us out of this mess.

But again, commercial media send up dingbats like Paglia in order to fill the public square with nonsense.

It's great that he's picking the Clinton team. They're the best around.

But he shouldn't choose Hillary for Sec. of State. We need her in the Senate. There's a ton of work to do, and she's best at formulating policy. I thought for a long time that she should be on the court, but a friend pointed out that it would be another waste of her talents; and she's not a constitutional lawyer. All that really matters is that the Clinton policy agenda is back in the driver's seat. Woo hoo!!!

Thanks for the comment. Yes it would shake the repubs. But a freind and I had another thought. It would be a waste of political capital to name any of the senators. They're powerful posts, which should not be thrown away on a glorified secratary. The job should go to Richardson, or the former senator from nebraska.

The pundits say this is a devious plot by Obama to keep Hillary on a leash. But I think it's a kind and generous move on his part. Both Obama and Hillary are honorable people who only want the best for this country. And this may be a way of showing the world that their fued is over.

Anyway, have you noticed the Clinton haters around here? They're back to finding evil thoughts inside the Clintons' very brains. It must be nice to be able to read other people's minds.

I so want Franken to win, if only

as a reward for his books Rush Limbaugh Is A Big etc... and the one blaming Bush for 9-11. The Universe should read that one.

Please. The hero worship is getting too thick.

He hasn't even done anything yet. Yet you glorify his every word.

How about this? He was smart enough to swipe the Clinton policy agenda from day one. But his talk has been full of shallow cliches and canned rhetoric; he's only now leaning plain speech. He's educated; his policy positions are well crafted; and his hiring is reassuring. But the agenda with which he'll govern was developed by the Clinton team. He's the first African American president, for which we can all dance in the streets.

But he's just a guy. Try to keep some perspective.

So because of an off the cuff remark

from Rahm Emanuel, the entire democratic party is useless. Please. They have a horrobly difficult job ahead of them. And maybe taking potshots at them is not the best idea just now.

I think Hillary is better in the Senate.

She's best at formulating policy. It's also a strategic mistake to offer the job to a Senator. We need all the votes we can get, and a Senate seat is not something to be thrown aside. I was hoping that Obama had offered the job as a kind and generous act, and to show the world their fued was over.

But the way the pundits talk about Hillary just creeps me right out. She's ambitious and coniving, the same old smears. The accusations come so naturally, I think they're really taking about themselves. I can only imagine how devious and self involved and honorless they must be to have made it in commercial media.

My people are from Superior. And I know the scandinavian,

germanical fanaticism. But I'm sorry. Seattle kicks hell out of Anyplace USA. Heavy evergreens. The nonstop, silver shimmer on the air. Lakes and rivers like blue diamonds. Cool breezes. And architecture like it should have been when what it was was better than what it pretended to be. Colonials, bungalos, a brand spanking modern downtown.

On second thought, I wouldn't mind a flat in the West Village.

I'm so not interested in these questions because they're

unanswerable. Logic is logic and faith is faith, with an ethical dimension that the logicians don't understand.

Dawkins doesn't have the mental agility for the faith experience. Fine. No one expects him to. But he has plenty of time for a scientist's mental masturbation. It's funny too that such a great rationalist hasn't noticed that religious folk are the ones caring for the poor and defending the oppressed, while rationalists sit on their self satisfied asses.
