ground McCain into powder. McCain's record is too delicious, and would make a fabulous buffet. Instead it was McCain scoring all the points, with 'you don't understand this or that.'
But judging candidates by how they debate is bogus. I only care about policy, and getting the Clinton policy agenda back in the presidency. Obama swiped it from day one, and the dem brass are totally on board. It's too bad Obama will get the credit. But Americans don't care two straws about fairness. And I'm willing to ignore it. The polices are what're important, and putting the country back on the high road.
I hear them from McCain / Palin, and from the dingbats at work. It's like that Southern comedian says: you can't fix stupid.
The right were drilled in anger and hatred as children. Some learn beter as adults that minorities have good and bad people, and have made spectacular contributions to society. But most carry the childish hatreds with them right into retirement. There's no talking to them. But Greenwald is right to speak out on this. And we should all speak out. It's probably the best way to counter the hysterical right.
has passed law one. The far left did the same to Clinton. They carped nonstop about welfare reform, don't ask, NAFTA, and Clinton not raising upper class taxes into the stratosphere.
As a queer, I thought making the deal on don't ask in order to fight for healthcare was the only choice. Given my community's need for medical care, health insurance for everyone is a tad more important than a five star general doing the triple snap on national television.
Clinton raised upper class taxes slightly to pay down the deficit and leave enough capital for the market to function. Which it did.
And I didn't notice anyone from the far left at the anti NAFTA protests. They couldn't get off their lazy a**** for one afternoon. But they could pull the lever for Nader, which put us in this horrible state in the first place.
Being self righteous is lots of fun. But there's a lot the left doesn't understand about government and the economy, and the Universe is not going to fall to its knees and worship their divine judgements.
The good news is that Obama swiped the Clinton policy agenda from day one: fiscal responsibility, healthcare, middle class tax cuts to stimulate the economy, mild upper class tax increases to pay for upgrades, startegic investments, far reaching diplomacy, green energy, etc... And he's surrounded himself with Clinton advisers. But even they might not be able to fix this complicated mess.
Bill Clinton is by far the greatest president of our time. The stats don't just confirm it. They scream it. And the far left never recognized that spectacular governing record, or the agenda that made it possible.
Obama was smart enough to recognize it. So try giving him a chance before getting on your high horse.
is that she looks good and is a dingbat. For working class republicans, both are necessary. Eye candy is required. Just look at all the blonde bombshell reporters. And there are plenty of qualified republican women who also look good. But the base have zero interest in a woman candidate who can speak knowledgeably. That's a man's job.
that he'll be able to govern. He was smart enough from day one to swipe the Clinton policy agenda.
Now of course he'll be given all the credit. He's already being given credit for winning, when it's obvious the media handed him the victory. Kos credits the 50 State strategy. Please. It's another term for Clinton bibartisanship, or, to the far left, triangulation.
But who cares? The Clinton agenda will back in the driver's seat. That's all that matters. A qualified African American in the presidency should put to rest the right's anti afirmative action bull.
And I'll dance in the streets.
pop culture, what you're really talking about is ageism. We get it. You're younger and cuter and have longer to live. Big whoop.
As for the Obama worship, please. I'm just thrilled to the gills for black people, after all the cr-p they've put up with in this country. And it puts the screws in right wing attacks on affirmative action, because Obama is so qualified. Don't kid yourself, though. He's a smart cookie alright, and was sharp enough from day one to swipe the Clinton policy agenda, which is what he'll use to govern. But the speeches that send you are stuffed with canned rhetoric and shallow chiches.
Thanks for the sneering apology, but you don't get anything. Try doing something useful for three seconds and get back to us.
I've always adored Emanuel. He is so very extremely, one of the best of the that crew.
One the one hand, if I have to listen to that shallow rhetoric and look at those big flopping dumbo ears for 8 years, I'll move to Tehran and have done with it.
On the other, Obama seems to be letting go of the arogant act and bringing in people with serious expertise. Biden was a great start. Then Emanual. And the policy speech today kicked ass.
The party has matured and is so ready to govern. We can thank the Clintons for devising the greatest policy agenda of our time.
attention from the republicans' failures. Look who you're dealing with. But Palin was a disaster. She put herself forward for a job beyond her, and she deserves whatsoever she gets.
