The economy first. Get control of the first 350 billion that went to the banks,

and put some competent managers in. Take control of the bad mortages, write new terms for the borowers, and make sure the government gets a good share of the profit. Raise taxes on the top 1 persent of earners to 39%. Put the stimulous package through, but make sure it's spent on key industries and services that make the economy go, plus green mass transit and clean power generation. Make sure all this is fiscally responsible, perhaps by taxing the war and oil companies. Get us out of Iraq. Fight for single payer, which will only be possible if everyone gets of the lazy butt and makes a huge ruckus. Invite Bill and Hillary to a Grande Supper with Gladys Knight and James Taylor as thanks for devising the most effective policy agenda of our time.

Original article: Are we there yet, Martin?

I never dreamed we'd have an African American in the Presidency. It's heaven on earth.

What a guy: smart, cool, and elegant. And what an opportunity for us. If Obama is successful at fixing this mess, it'll be a huge moral victory for liberalism, and for us all. And I intend to do everything I can to help.

For now, let's just drink in the moment.

Original article: A brand-new day

Hutman, you want the active voice? How about this?

His surrogates made the racist accusation nonstop, as did his blog worshippers. He said nothing to stop any of it. In his race speech that you all were bowled over by, he mentioned a supposed racial gaff by an unamed Clinton staffer, a slimey trick. His worshippers made false and digusting accusations nonstop for months. With the msm protecting him, he was able to run a dirtier democratic primary campaign than we had ever seen.

That's fine. I look at it now as the lengths the powers that be were willing to go to do something nice for African Americans. They deserve it, and Obama was always qualified, from his swiping the Clinton policy agenda from day one, to his tapping the Clinton team, to his now excellent speeches, as opposed to his former shallow rhetoric that had you all in a lather.

Please excuse Joan and me. Where I come from, we call people on public abuses. If not, they'll only continue.

Original article: Kirsten Gillibrand. Really?

I still think this was vengeance by the Kennedys. I just know they put the

screws on Paterson, and I can only imagine the delicious rewards and mind bending threats that were put out there. The horror.

On the other hand, who cares. She's falling into line, and that's all that matters. Anyone trying to fill my sweet Hillary's shoes was bound to be a disappointment.

Please rmember. The media are financed by commercial interests. It's their job

to produce an ignorant public. They use a vast array of rhetorical tricks, most of which ya'll haven't even noticed. People like Joan, lore bless her, have a foot in the media door, and it creates a blind spot. But commercial media have a never ending supply of more subtle tricks in reserve.

The only way to counter them is by liberals creating their own high quality media. So long as our side is too lazy or cheap or ignorant to finance their own networks, you can complain all you want too and nothing will change.

Armey uses a cheap rhetorical trick. When you can't argue the facts, attack the

messenger. He calls her a political hack and says he wouldn't marry her. What either insult has to do with the issues Joan speaks about is anyone's guess. But many people are too uneducated to see Armey's weak response for what it is. Sad.

In'75 when we stepped out of the boy friend's limo onto Polk and saw

all the nudes and drags we said it was a pr mistake. But drag was never about politics or pr. It's just good clean fun.

O the times we've had. Miss Virginia Plum in a dump flat in the Tenderloin drying her gown with a blow dryer in a last ditch attempt to make an entrance. The gender benders with beards and pumps and too short mini skirts. Sixteen years old on Halloween getting out of the car in a black cocktail dress and marching three block to Polk in very tight heels.

Who cares if young guys can't get into it? For us it was just a party favor. And there are slightly more important aspects of gay culture to celebrate, like the massive contributions we've made to this hick fest for which we're never given credit. Democracy anyone? Computers, logic, brunch?

I fear some of the dems. Have they learned the lesson about

deficit spending? PUBLIC DEBT MEANS THAT WE ALL PAY INTEREST TO PRIVATE FINANCIAL COMPANIES!!! Bill Clinton figured that one out. It's one of many brilliant policies the Clintons invented.

We need to be watchful that the budget doesn't get bogged down with repub tax cuts or democrat pork. Spending should be targetted to strategic industries and services that also stimulate other sectors, not to mention clean energy and transit which will free us from the Middle East. Government managers should be appointed to oversee the funds, and re-tool Detroit for green cars.

Drag isn't really an issue, and therefore perfect for popular media.

It's just a silly and defiant act a few people do occassionally. But of course, straights would rather talk about those weird gays rather than the massive contributions we've have made to society.

@Dworkin

Our complaint is not about too much 'flambouyant' sexuality. It's about promiscuous and dangerous sex in the aids era. We are not prudes. We just don't want any more of our people getting aids. Hello.

The Clintons are doing more than help us internationally. They devised

the most brilliant and successful policy agenda of our time. Yes, they moved the party to the middle, because that was where it needed to be at the time to win elections. But their agenda was swiped from day one by Obama, and it'll be used by the democratic leadership for the forseeable future.

What's needed now is a return to fiscal sanity. The huge debt means we're all paying interest to private financial groups. And Obama needs to get control of the bank bailout money, either by firing the current sleaze and appointing competent managers or by taxing the money back into the US Treasury. All this will need a groundswell of public support and a massive liberal media offensive. But the public are too lazy to get off their butts, and liberal journalists are probably too corrupt. They are certainly too ignorant because commercial media doesn't allow educated people on their bandwidth.
