Whether she's an intellect is another matter. From what I've seen, she's spent her time in the typical leisure activities of the spoiled rich, supporting culture and the arts, and fundraising for local schools. Please.
I like the Kennedys. But the silver spoon aspect creeps me right out. We need accomplished, intelligent people in office now, not a lazy, self satisfied heiress.
Caroline is not even close. She's a lazy, spoiled heiress who's spent her time on the usual leisure activities of the rich.
I like the Kennedys. They're good liberals. But they're not strong liberals. Teddy made a serious personal mistake which tarnished us all for decades. Though his brothers lost their lives in public service, that doesn't mean we owe the family anything. When will we get over the guilt trip and stop giving this clan of weaklings everything they want?
Especially now, we need highly educated policy experts and experienced politicians who can speak persuasively to the public. It's not the time for Miss Caroline and her makeup artist, hair dresser, speech writers, and seventy three personal assistants. If she's so willing to buy the job, let her buy it for someone more qualified.
Don't people know it's owned by the oil and war industries? Why anyone would expect a scrap of integrity from these clowns is beyond my comprehension.
By the way, they're not down on bended knee. They're down on both knees.
of another scandal mill to tarnish the dems out of action. Government people sell favors every day of the week. But the fbi and media only find the man appointing Obama's replacement. Now that we're getting another smart guy in the Presidency, we need to be on the watch that the media doesn't try character assisnation again. If they do, the liberal blogosphere should go berserk, and we should be ready to finance alternate news to fight them. The stakes are too high now for us to allow them to do to Obamatron what they did to The Clintonater.
Maybe for NOW or Emily's List. Or maybe I could shoe horn in a strong queer activist, although none comes to mind at the moment.
Senators are supposed to represent the State, not look after the interests of a select group.
push back we need. I wish there were more like you. But of course, Americans don't care much for serious argument. And the financial barons are not about to hire skilled researchers. Anyway, Thanks and keep up the good work.
liberalism. I think the Clinton model of fiscal responsibility and strategic investment works much better. And it would be an easier sell to the public and the markets.
or buying a house near the transit lines? Oh, excuse me, that would mean thinking about something besides yourself for three seconds.
a good game now, helped elect Bush twice. That goes for the entire commercial news establishment. The only reason they're supporting Obama is that the powers that be know they went too far. They still are giving unlimited face time to free market fantasists without competent rebuttal.
The moral is, don't trust commercial news. And for goodness sake, when will liberals start up their own news outlets, starting on public access and moving onto commercial bandwidth? NBC may have softened their tone for the moment, but they could start character attacks on the Obamatron at any second.
When will liberals toughen up and go strategic? It's like they only like to talk but don't really care.
We should switch to domestic partnership, which we have a chance of winning. But the movement can't stop shooting itself in the foot. Witness the mass demonstrations over bouquet throwing. Please.
the Clintons have done for this country - like the brilliant policy agenda they created when Bill was a leading intellectual in DLC and PPI, and that'll be used for years to come - the entire Senate should have gotten down on its knees and kissed Hillary's ass nonstop with big juicy smackers. (Excuse the indelicate image.)
So he's reaching in many directions, just as the Clintons did. It's how the game is played, and there's no sign he's turning his back on us. Grow up. But of course, the movement can't stop shooting itself in the foot, from mass demonstrations over bouquet throwing, to A Day Without a Gay (Please), to expecting politicians to bow to our every whim and getting all messy when they don't.
As for Robinson, it's huge pr for us. And it's historic. On the other hand, and though I'm Episcopalian, he never struck me as the sharpest tool in the shed. It would've been nice to have someone a bit less namby pamby. But so what. It is so very historic, and I'll be absolutely glued on Sunday.
for years without creating workable solutions.
I probably understand the mixed economy as well as anyone, but the current situation is too complex for anyone to issue advice. Sure, if we make transport and energy green, there's a big chance that the mass of rubes won't use it. But I think it's a risk we have to take, if only for the sake of future generations. It has a better chance of succeeding if stimulous is directed at key services, industries, and transport systems, sectors that make the economy go and also stand the best odds of being used by the hick majority.
These are just guesses, of course. And anyone who thinks they can give reliable advice in this climate is full of it.
And Taliesan, let's all hope you're right.
where the banks are at to say that Obama is in their pocket. Maybe this money is needed, and maybe Obama will use it as a means to regulate and to put competent managers in. Let's hope.
