In fact, the only religion ... -- and make no mistake, it IS a religion -- is ATHEISM.
In fact, you are mistaken.
Theism is the belief in the existence of a god or gods. The prefix a means without. A-theism is to be without the belief in the existence of a god or gods. It is nothing more and nothing less.
An atheist does not believe in a god or gods. You might say that an atheist must then believe in the non-existence of said god or gods, and many actual atheists say this as well, but this goes beyond what an atheist is by definition.
You may think that I am engaged in some rhetorical trickery, but I am not. Not believing in X does not mean that one believes in the non existence of X. For some, not believing is enough and any further thought of X is a waste of time.
There is no evidence to support the belief in the existence of a god or gods. This belief requires faith. There is no evidence to support the non-existence of a god or gods. It is impossible to prove that a thing does not exist, except in very limited and contrived circumstances. There is, however, a mountain of evidence to disprove much of the literal interpretation of the scriptures of all faiths, but that by itself does not disprove the existence of a god or gods, the existence of which, again, is impossible to disprove.
There are atheists who lack positive belief (existence) and negative belief (non-existence), but do believe that the probability of the existence of a god or gods is so remote, is so infinitesimally small, that it is effectively zero. This is more the result of a thought experiment than anything else.
Making fun of people's religious beliefs is not tyrannical. Apparently it takes almost nothing these days to be labeled as a tyrant, fascist, Nazi, or socialist. Making fun of people's religious beliefs is a popular and traditional past time for people, whether they are people of faith or not. There is a small minority of atheists who disparage religions and their followers. On the other hand, there are small minorities of people of faith, of all faiths, that do the same thing. This is probably just people being people, or people being tribal. The vast majority of atheists, like the vast majority of moderate people of moderate faiths, keep their thoughts to themselves and treat these things as private and personal matters.
I suspect that the more vocal atheists tend to pick on Christianity, and to a much lesser extent Judiasm, because those are the dominant faiths in the United States, as well as the rest of Western Civilization. If we didn't have very well organized, very well funded, and very well motivated people trying to rewrite history and impose their beliefs on society, I suspect that we wouldn't see nearly as many of these outbursts against religion. I tend to think that this is a reaction to other trends. And there are also atheists who are jackasses, just like their are people of faith who are jackasses.
Lastly, I will note that you have done the very thing that you are complaining about. You think atheism is a religion (it is not), you are frustrated that atheists are mean to people of faith (the vast majority are not), and then you proceed to take aim at atheists and their "religion."
I think that most people would agree with Thomas Jefferson's take on all of this:
But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.
