What is it you like so much about Islamic terror?
Please point out a single comment here that has spoken in defense of terrorism, Islamic or otherwise.
No-one here likes it, no-one here supports it. Talking about it objectively and rationally about it doesn't translate into support.
Here endith the lesson.
Or are you too much of a "romantic" and just all talk?
Its a well established point he lacks the capacity to do more than 'talk'.
20% of Muslims in America would not or could not give an unfavorable opinion of al Qaeda when polled, with an additional 5% actually giving a favorable opinion.
Your fixation on this one point to the exclusion of all else smacks a bit of obsession. Its already been thorough dismantled in the previous two threads, so I won't bother with here.
I will ask you this: what is it that bothers you about such a finding? The fact that 5% of respondents have a favorable opinion of an extremist organization, or the fact the rest of the poll findings show American Muslims to be more positive, mainstream and peaceable than the cliche 'islamofascist' paints them.
And please, don't go claiming that 5% automatically translates into a ready bunch of Al Qaeda recruits. There's no evidence in the poll to even suggest those holding a 'favorable' opinion of the network are actually willing to join up with it.
Put it another way: if you hold a 'favorable' view of the United States military, does this mean you are willing to sign up for service in Iraq?
Then again, given the propensity of Americans polled to be willing to kill unarmed civilians and torture suspected terrorists, I shouldn't really be surprised are your apparent bloodthirsty willingness to accept the worst in others.
What's fascinating is watching the good liberals here categorically state that ANY ideology is inherently more dangerous and violent than Islam. By definition. You're really trying too hard, people.
What's fascinating is that RealName apparently can't read English, given the central point has been ANY and all ideologies can potentially breed violent fanaticsim.
Islam is no more prone to this than any other creed or doctrine.
What's even more fascinating is how this discussion has highlighted the essential weakness and cowardice of those on the Right. Not terribly manly or intelligible, any of them.
But then again, the modern Republicans and their cheerleaders have never shown much fiber against the enemy to begin with, be it rhetorically or on the battlefield.
You just plain don't understand how to read polls. And yet you continue to talk.
Thank you, prunes. Though I think its more accurate Golden Boy (wonder if he realizes the connotations of that phrase) is simply reading more into the poll answers than is actually there.
I see that Glenn's army of supporters are afraid to address the frightening implication of huge numbers of Muslim Americans who love George Bush and are independently wealthy.
Are you suffering from heat stroke or something?
Your ad hominem attack on me proves my assertions.
Your 'assertions' make no sense, hence my very serious question about your health.
By Nathan Popper, published in that left wing "Forward" Which I guess I don't read because the fine people of Salon have told me so....anyway
And the point of this is...?
Because when people who really are progressive and sane sound more reasonable than you it doesn't mean you're a radical it just means your ignorant, retarded, vain, sophomoric and stupid.
My name calling is better than yours, asswipe.
I agree on both counts. Must be sad to be ignorant, retarded, vain, sophomoric and stupid as you.
Would that Glenn's supporters could be as honest and brave.
One paragraph you're berating the rest of us for considering the numbers honestly and in a larger but comparable context, yet in the last you are all but praising comments left on altmuslim accepting the same context.
Does this qualify as doublethink or simple "cross-chatter" between hemispheres?
Damned Americans, you'd think they would have chucked national pride by now. But no, their stubborn refusal to capitulate is causing all sorts of problems for the rest of us. Drat.
"Capitulate" to whom, o brave warrior person? You seem terribly eager to kill and kill and kill to no discernable end, yet you remain safe enscorned in New Jersey.
I'm unsurprised.
Glenn and his little posse, to the contrary, have stated that the poll should be superceded by other polls that show non-Muslims to be even more violent, and that this shows that there is nothing to worry about.
Except of course that isn't what's been happening. Putting one poll's findings into context by quoting comparable polls isn't 'superceding' anything.
I mean, the contrast couldn't be greater. Iokannan, surely you can see this?
If that were the case, I'd agree. Given it isn't? No.
And by the way, the existence of an internal reform movement within Islam surely indicates that at least some Muslims see the need to defang it of its worst attributes. Glenn and his fellow no-nothings attack anyone who bring up Islam in a critical way, crying "bigot" etc. See the difference?
Every religion you might name will have those same 'worst attributes' and have go through its own internal reforms, so no surprise there. But given no-one here is offering a defense of those 'worse attributes' and simply pointing out your one-dimensional viewpoint is neither accurate nor much better than bigotry?
Clearly we aren't speaking the same language any longer, so yes, let's leave this issue for history to decide.
Tell it to your 9 buddies who blog one another, champ. Fact is, you folks here are more radical than the radicals and that's fine because it means you have no real power at all.
Is that meant to be an insult? Your squealing has gotten to the point I can never tell with you.
