Ever here of "speaking only about what you know", Proximity Warning?

Ever heard of advance copies you dolt? I assure you, Random House sends out a lot of them.

And precisely how many did Crown send out? And to whom? And when? And with what timeline to make their observations?

There is the possibility that a glut of positive reviews in respectable publications will appear over the next couple of weeks. But I doubt it very much.

Well, GQ and 'The Village Voice' (neither liberal mouthpieces) have already expressed positive reactions. Doubtless we'll hear more in the future.

In any case what do you care? You've already admitted you've prejudged the book and its argument. Your position is stated, your piece is said. Kindly leave the stage.

Or are you just starved for attention like the beaten child you project?

Its called 'good manners', Proximity Warning.

Learn some and you might earn something other than the back of our hand.

Get a clue.

In anycase you are confused. They have said a couple of positive things about Glenn in the past - don't quite know in what contexts they occured, but it was not with regard to this book.

Context matters, or haven't you been paying attention the last eight years? Don't bother answering; we already know you haven't.

"In any case what do you care? You've already admitted you've prejudged the book and its argument. Your position is stated, your piece is said. Kindly leave the stage."

Boy, you guys really hate being reminded that there are people out there who don't agree with don't you?

We don't mind that at all; maturity lends one the grace to accept and understand our differences from others.

Rudeness and ill-manners on the other hand, name-calling and unearned smugness and such, shows only your weakness of character and weakness of will. Worse is your refusal to actually grow up and admit your error.

More's the pity (as if you deserve any).

GoodCelery: the cure to the common depression!

GC, how do you manage to keep your sense of humor so sharp?

I'm quite serious in this question.

A Papal condemnation would be nice, except...

Certainly the Pope, with his "love thy neighbor" commandments and such, should condemn Bush for endorsing the torture of any human, al-Qaeda, Taliban, or otherwise.

Unfortunately Benedict XVI was, prior to his election to the Throne of Peter, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, better known in history as "The Inquisition". He's also an ardent traditionalist in terms of doctrine and values; if he were a regular old pol, he'd qualify a militant jingoist.

Kinda hard to take him or his office seriously when it comes to condemning anyone for anything.

Just say what you mean, Proximity Warning.

I might well read the book, if I read good things about it by somebody who isn't already a paid-up ass-kissing Greenwald groupie like you Arne or a fellow-traveller in BDS lunacy like most the reveiwers.

That rather a long-winded way of say "no, I'll never pick up the book."

Rather deceptive too, as it makes you sound more reasonable than you demonstratably are.

Just an observation.

Careful to define your terms, Proximity Warning.

And my whole problem is that, thus far, there is no sign that Glenn's book is being read and liked by reasonable people.

Define 'reasonable' first, otherwise this assurance is meaningless.

And didn't I point out earlier the book itself has only been on the shelves for (checks watch) barely three hours now? Hardly enough time to make a mark in the marketplace.

Still be subjective, Proximity Warning?

Of interest to anybody except the extreme left/anti-Bush blog fringe.

A decent review in a respectable publication would be a good start.

I'd almost call this a weaseling out of your nominal obligations, but I have too much respect for Mustela nivalis to insult them so.

"And didn't I point out earlier the book itself has only been on the shelves for (checks watch) barely three hours now? Hardly enough time to make a mark in the marketplace."

You are right; we'll have to wait and see, though I don't anticipate crow being on the menu, based on the pattern set by his previous two books.

Then you should quit eating at that pig-sty you call 'conservatism' and join the majority of the country.

"Anyone NOT "suffering from BDS" by this point hates America and the Constitution. Simple as that, and fuck yourself."

Ah - a case in point. If freaks like this frothing fuckwit who answers to the name of Prunes (rhymes with 'loons) are the target readership, then the book should probably be withdrawn on the basis that it agitates the already severely mentally ill.

The same holds true for the works Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, Pat Buchannan, Mark Levin, Michele Malkin, Newt Gingrinch, Laura Ingraham, Peter Schweizer, Gregg Jackson, David Limbaugh, Jonah Goldberg, Edward Klein, Pat Robertson, John Hagee, Tim LaHaye, D. James Kennedy, James Dobson, Robert Spencer, Zell Miller, and Neal Boortz.

To name just a few on your side of the fence. Small wonder you guys are so nuts with role models like these.

All is not lost, Ché Pasa!

And ordinary Americans buy into this crap when once they would have fought it to the death. And did.

Prolonged prosperity and a decline in education do tend to have calcifying effects upon the body politic. Add to that parasites invested in keeping the body too weak and pliant; witness shooter242's invocation of 'aristocracy' as a permanent condition. Since when has monarchy ever done more than feed off the blood of their subjects?

Fortunately, nothing in nature remains static. We're in the midst of a dynamic period right now with no clue how the American public will react to the next move made by the GOP. We could reach the tripping point along a catastrophe curve at any moment (particularly with that messianic nihlist sitting in the Oval Office), or we could see a truly clean election for the first time this century.

In any case, let's keep our wits about us. Who knows what the American people are capable of doing or not doing anymore?
