Gosh, Glenn, you make us Republicans appear to be electorally unbeatable! I hope you're right about that!
If you're so anxious to die, feel free to enlist in the Armed Services. That way when the next war comes, you'll be on the front line for a change.
In the meantime, let's rid the 2008 campaign of the phony cult-of-personality kinds of campaigning that you hate.
That would be a welcome development.
Let's focus on the candidates' real records and actual policy statements. Let's examine that information closely.
Yes, let's.
Let's start with Barack Obama.
Already done. Light years better than what the elephant party has fielded.
Okay, on to McCain.
Agreed. There's no such thing as too much kindling.
Well, I guess that puts you in good company with Christian as well as Islamic fundamentalists.
What's next? Burning heretics at the stake?
No words...There is so much wrong with that thesis I don't even know where to begin. Glenn, you're going to spin right off this planet!
Um, what? I'm sorry but I really don't get the comment.
Seriously, if I were a serious-minded Democrat, I'd be absoultely panicked right now at the notion that my party's hopes were pinned on Obama come the fall.
Why? I'm honestly curious here. What about Obama's record and conduct should cause us such worry and fear even?
Being on the other side, I'm pretty happy at the prospect.
Well, we all have to stand somewhere I suppose. Just make sure your footing is secure and its not actually quicksand, Elephantman.
You better answer RMP. Otherwise, he's liable to hold his breath until you do.
If only. If only he would.
While I don't automatically think you're driven solely by skin color, you have yet to express a single reason you're opposed to Senator Obama or why you seriously think that he has no chance of winning in November.
Is it because his policies rely on something other than fear and loathing?
Is it because he wants to end the ruinous and meaningless occupation of Iraq?
Is it because he will attempt to hold the Republican's to their pledge to sunset Bush's (insane and counterproductive) tax cuts?
Is it because he's actually a lot more personable and rational than Senator McCain?
Is it because he can express policies and intentions that don't rely on some fake machismo and an outsized codpiece?
Is it because you simply are too scared of the country moving past the trauma of 9/11 and rejoin the community of civilized nations?
Please, take this question seriously! I really don't get your hostility to the man or his campaign.
Since you don't want to explain your opposition to Obama in anything other than Republican code, I guess the non-controversy about Rev. Wright will have to do.
Anyway, there's nothing in that ad that is anyhwere close to the kind of race-baiting that is found in any one of Rev. Jeremiah Wright's sermons.
Well yes. Anyone who makes the following claims really deserves a public flogging:
"America stands at the crossroads. Our destiny as a nation hangs in the balance. America's hope for survival is the anointed preaching of the gospel with such force that the chains of drug addiction, AIDS, Satanism, homosexuality, pornography, divorce and drunkenness are broken"
"All hurricanes are acts of God because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that."
"Do you know the difference between a woman with PMS and a snarling Doberman pinscher? The answer is lipstick."
"Do you know the difference between a terrorist and a woman with PMS? You can negotiate with a terrorist."
"[T]he feminist movement today is throwing off authority in rebellion against God's pattern for the family."
Oh, sorry. Those were all John Hagee, your man's favorite evangelical.
Sure you want to compare religious supporters of the candidates?
I'm a Republican. I pretty much stick to Republican candidates in elections. I want lower taxes, less discretionary federal spending and the most vigorous prosecution of the war on terror. I want more federal judges like Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Scalia. I want less government, and more freedom from regulation and frivolous lawsuits.
How you can expect any of these things from McCain is beyond me.
But then you've already confessed you'll go Republican regardless of common sense. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.
I'm not calling anyone names, I'm looking for someone to explain why the "Haliburton-Cheney conspiracy" is reality, as opposed to a myth, you know, like Glenn is complaining about.
Its been confirmed that while Cheney denied any relationship with Halliburton as vice president, he conveniently forgot to mention that he continues to receive from the company deferred salary of over $150,000 while maintaining 433,333 shares of unexercised stock options. Certainly, Cheney has a "financial interest in Halliburton" while working as vice president.
The Congressional Research Service to issue a report which confirmed Cheney's ongoing financial interest in Halliburton "is considered among the 'ties' retained in or 'linkages to former employers' that may 'represent a continuing financial interest' in those employers which makes them potential conflicts of interest." (bolding mine)

As Halliburton has already been confirmed to be bilking both the US government and the DoD via a shady billing system for its work in Iraq, as well as getting lucrative no-bid contracts thanks to its ties within the Executive Branch, Vice President Cheney is profiting (either directly or indirectly) from the company's activities. Even if he is or was completely unaware of the company's questionable activities (which is hard to credit), the Vice President of the United States had an ethical and legal obligation to make his ties to the company clear; he did not do so on multiple occasions, prompting questions of his motives and conduct.
