The onus is upon tiberius

You all claim the Constitution is being destroyed but I wonder if you would be willing to do anything necessary to protect your interpertation of it?

That's one of the differences between us, I suppose. I prefer we behave like civilized beings and respect and obey the rule of law (as embodied within the US Constitution). You, evidentially, do not and would prefer an unending bloodbath.

Not unlike certain strains of Islam, I notice.

I mean if there isn't really good and evil, just a point of view, who's to say any point of view is right or wrong?

Moral and ethical relativism are one of the dangers brought forth by the Enlightenment. Hence the need for laws and standards that are respected and adhered to irregardless of transitory circumstances.

Again, clearly we differ here. More's the pity you can't understand the slope you're fast sliding down.

The phantom menace shooter242 fears

Ahmadinejhad has directly threatened Israel repeatedly. Is there some substantive reason you don't believe him, and are you willing to bet an entire nation's lives on you guessing correctly?

This bears repeating: Ahmadinejhad is a powerless figurehead and loudmouth who can't direct anyone to do anything. Plus there is no credible evidence Iran is anywhere close to building a working nuclear weapon.

As for Israel, let us remember which side actually has nukes right now and the means to deliver them.

That said, are you prepared to live with the consequences of the mass slaughter of Iranians over a phantom threat that exists only in George W Bush's head?

I don't expect you have the courage to respond, but feel free to surprise us.

Amazingly, I agree with most of RealName

So short form - No one stops Iran's program. They have some capability in 2011-2. They announce it the following year. Wait and see what the reaction is. Next generation IRBM's are deployed officially in someone's direction 2014. Iran erects a nuclear threat umbrella that extends from the Balkans to Western India, from Cairo to western Russia and part of far western China.

You were okay up to the last sentence. You're crediting Iran with a bit too much industrial capability to produce these hypothetical IRBMs. You're also presuming they can produce more than a couple devices/warheads in that same timeframe.

By then the following countries will be motivated to announce their own programs:

Again, presumptive. Any evidence any of these nations have the technical resources to even being this type of research?

Now unless the fine people of Salaamdotcom can arrive at a cogent way to UNinvent something and remove the knowledge and tools from the world requisite to build these weapons, I would suggest that perhaps they're not on the right track.

Actually, that's been the point of a lot of comments on this subject (genocidal idiots nothwithstanding).

The bravery that is shooter242

If you decide that leaving Iran to pursue it's stated intentions is the right thing to do, then you cannot escape that advocacy should a catastrophe happen. Personally, that's not something I could live with.

He can't live with a distant but hypothetical 'danger', yet is willing to live with the inescapable consequences of mass death and destruction of a civilian population.

Does this make him a psychopath, or a sociopath?

History will show 'anonymous' wrong

If you all want to pretend you dont know who Ward Churchill is, that's fine with me. What can I tell you, go learn about him, its' my service to you for the day.

You have yet to provide a link.

He wrote after Sept 11 that the Americans who died in the office buildings had it coming. Look it up!

I doubt he'll ever compete with the late Jerry Falwell's televised claim of the same.

http://www.commondreams.org/news2001/0917-03.htm

I'll bet you all agree with Ward on most political issues.

As I'm sure you agree with the late Falwell and still-breathing Pat Robertson on most political issues.

When most Americans think of liberal academics, its' him and Bill Ayers and all the so-called educated elites who spit anti American hatred that we think of.

Uh-huh. Clearly you have some issues with education and academics. Let me guess: you got a D- in English back in primary school and were voted "Least likely to get kissed by a girl."

How sad. Really. Truly.

A fair summation by RealName?

We think the US will bomb Iran. Some of us sort of hope so so we can be validated. We don't have any actual evidence that it has or will happen but that's neither here nor there.

You seem abnormally fixiated upon this idea of "we". You've been corrected on this point several times, particularly the point that the US has not initiated any military action against Iran, and yet you keep coming back to it.

Is it OCD, or simple stubborness? There's medication out there for the former, you know.

Cheney amongst the mythos

Cheney impresses me more as the Cthulhu type. Sorry, couldn't resist.

More like Tsathoggua:

"He was very squat and pot-bellied, his head was more like a monstrous toad than a deity, and his whole body was covered with an imitation of short fur, giving somehow a vague sensation of both the bat and the sloth. His sleepy lids were half-lowered over his globular eyes; and the tip of a queer tongue issued from his fat mouth."

Enough said?

Cheney as a the toad god

Point taken on the physical description, if only Tsathoggua had the constant sneer.

It is frequently depicted with a human in its mouth (with just the lower half hanging out), and Cheney has proved himself something of a carnivore.
