The Clintons loved black folk as long as the black folk voted for them. Once they lost the black vote, suddenly only under-educated hard working whites matter. The same people, by the way, who have consistently voted by a 2:1 margin for the Republican presidential candidate since 1980. They never even mention hard working black people. In her seven years in the senate, Clinton was a reliable corporatist, and enthusiastic backer of imperialmilitary aggression and a water carrier for the military/industrial complex. She didn't give a damn about the "hard working white people" she now loves so much.
According to Hillary, only a candidate who has the support of the majority of uneducated hard working(although often unemployed) whites, deserves the Democratic nomination. Based on that fascinating logic, and since she's apparently very popular in Romania and Latvia, two societies with many uneducated, hard working white people, she should be given the nomination. And no, I don't think Hillary is a racist...as far as I know.
This is so disingenuous. Clinton cannot win the nomination, there's no way she can win. She can BECOME the nominee if Obama suddenly dies, but for that she has no need to continue her campaign. If something catastrophic happens to him, she'll become the nominee by default anyway. "Should Hillary continue her campaign" is as morally bankrupt as "is the Earth really round" or "is global warming really taking place". A candidate continues his primary campaign only if he/she has a chance of winning. Primaries are not general elections, their sole purpose is to pick a party nominee for the general-not every state should be campaigned in, not every vote cast before there's a nominee.
Howard Wolfson, one of Clinton's main henchmen, said on Thursday that they absolutely plan on taking the "fight" (his words) all the way to the convention, as they don't consider Obama to be the front runner and as far as the Clinton campaign is concerned, the two candidates are running neck to neck with Clinton actually ahead, since according to him, she has a far better chance of beating McCain, and she has the support of white blue color voters. Those dreaming that she will somehow bow out gracefully after June 3rd are just that, dreaming. Hillary is the type of person who knees you in the balls while hugging yoo, just so you know. She is incredibly aggressive, she plays incredibly dirty and she has no intention of conceding defeat under any circumstances, because she intends to destroy her opponents and remain the only one standing. That's why the superDs should've stepped in right after after Tuesday and put and end to her campaign. If they don't do it very soon, they are setting up a riotous convention and a shattered party and handing McBush the White House.
If the SuperDs stepped in unison after Tuesday and pledged their votes Obama because Clinton cannot win the nomination in any legitimate way excluding the SuperDs ignoring the delegate count, she would have had no excuse left for running. Her funding would've dried up overnight, and unless she was willing to spend all the money the Clintons have made since 2000 on a hopeless campaign, and she isn't that crazy, the Democratic primary would be essentially over. Actually, one particular SuperD doing that would've been enough-Dianne Feinstein. Unfortunately, the remaining SuperDs refuse to believe that she plans on taking it all the way to Denver, and the analogy that comes to mind is cancer. If you don't treat it early and aggressively, it will spread and become inoperable and deadly. Decelerations such as Wolfson's indicate to me that Clinton intends to destroy the party and then run on a 3rd party ticket ala Perot, believing she can actually take enough votes away from both Obama and McBush and get to 270 electoral votes in the general. In my opinion the SuperDs passivity is fatal in this case.
Everything you say would make sense if she intended at some point to accept a winner other than herself, which would inevitably be Obama. Since the primaries are almost over, she doesn't actually need much more money. She can survive till Denver riding the "I was robbed of the nomination although I'm the people's choice and best qualified to beat McCain". There are enough idiots and racists who would support her based on this and keep her afloat through Denver. Then she can declare her running as a 3rd party candidate, because "saving the nation is more important than party affiliation".
The Clintons never admit or accept defeat. When Wolfson was asked this week how many delegates would Obama have to win in order for Clinton to concede defeat, he was babbling about possibly 2200, about not accepting any outcome without seating FL and MI, about Puerto Rico(!!) giving Clinton a popular vote majority, and how the nominee should be the one who is running better in the polls against McBush. The reality is that the Clintons thinks she can survive financially till Denver if the remaining uncommitted supers don't make Obama the winner after May 20 or June 3rd. If there isn't a nominee before the convention begins, anything can happen in the Clintons view. Moreover, if Obama becomes the nominee only after a brokered and contentious convention, she can claim she was wronged, and ride a massive fund raiser as a wronged female who was robbed of the nomination that should have rightfully gone to her into a 3rd party run. It seems like she thinks that she could get a massive woman vote, most of the blue color whites, the Jewish vote and 10% of the black vote-enough to win all the large states including FL and Ohio, a couple of southern states and win the presidency while McBush and Obama fight it out over the independents. There isn't going to be any Clinton concession speech and a pledge to campaign for Obama, not now, not ever. She is running in November, no matter what.
