The US as the most right wing country in the world

The Clintons, Obama, Richardson, Al Gore and just about any other Democratic major figure would be considred as Right Wing in the rest of the world, and certainly as far right in Western Europe. Even in Istrael, their policies would put them in the Right Wing Likud party's rank. To have the US MSM depict McCain as a "centrist", when the rest of the world perceives him as a modern hybrid of Ghengis Kahn/Attila the Hun, is both hillarious and incredibly deperssing.

McCain as an old fashioned gentleman

McCain is a throwback to the 18th and 19th British empire mentality that the honorable and gentlemany way for nations to solve their differences, is by fighting wars. He honestly believes that war is honorable and preferable to the protracted and tedious diplomatic process of give and take compromise, which he considers cowardly, dishonest and unmanly. McCain is an admirer of war and the value of going to war, partially because he had seen its consequences only from high up in the sky and not on the ground. McCain combines his admiration of war with the belief that the USA is a special and exceptional country that is always right with jutice on her side and could do no wrong, therefore it is always justified in waging wars, anytime, any place. Electing a person like him as the president of the only superpower, sitting on top of stockpiles of atomic and hydrogen weapons is completely insane, but never underestimate the proclivity of the US electorate to make insane and moronic choices.

Off the charts conservative stupidity

In civilized Europe and other free societies around the world, a liberal means a centrist. Liberal parties are supported mostly by the upper middle class, support a sensible free market philosophy(capitalism with a human and compassionate face) and are largely suspicious of militarism and agressive foreign policy. They enter parliamentary coalitions with both social Democrats and Tory parties-they are the quintesential centrists. Our country is so insanly right wing, that US centrists and moderate conservatives are labled as "liberal"- meaning left wing in US right wing lingo, and, heaven forbid, "progressives"- meaning raging communists in right wing lingo. We have become a bastion of right wing stupiodity and ignorance where, unless you are an off the chart right wing extremist, you are considered as a raging "lefty", by those morons. It's no wonder that an extremist war monger like McCain is considered a "centrist" in our crazy and retarded society.

McCain is a man in love

McCain deeply believes that war is honorable and that war defines a man's honor and character. Even worst, he believes that war should be the preferred method of resolving disputes between nations. He believes that the US is a warrior state, chosen and exceptional and cannot be judged by the standards and conventions all other nations are required to adhere to. To McCain, the USA is the new crusader state. He is devious and inseincere on many fronts, but he's completely sincere in his admiration of war and America as a warrior state fighting evil. McCain is probably the most dangerous politician in US history, backed by the adoring, ignorant and obedient corporate media.

Elections have consequences

As a San Francisco bay area resident with UC. Berkeley ties, I hang down my head in shame and repulsion at the notion of John Yoo teaching law at one of this country's most revered law schools. Another reminder that elections do have consequences. Years of Republican governors in California have produced a conservative board of regents in the UC system and they in turn made it possible for a war criminal like John Yoo to "teach" law at UC Berkeley.

Hillary the prinicpled

"It's a bedrock American principle...blah, blah, blah". In over 7 years of serving as a US senator this completely hypocritical and ruthless person couldn't be bothered to initiate any kind of reform to our astonishingly flawed election system that allows the Republicans to win elections they actually lose through voting machine fixing, voter intimidation and voter registration fraud .

This is such nonsense

When I get on the road with my car I know the rules beforehand. If I run a red light and get caught I don't get the opportunity to ask to re-drive that patch of road again-I pay the consequences for breaking the rules. There shouldn't be even a discussion of re-voting or seating those FA and Michigan delegates. The voters who bothered to vote were too ignorant to keep themselves informed and the party officials who agreed to violate the DNC rules should've known better. It's time for Hillary to quit the race and switch to the GOP, where she belongs.

One thing is clear

Had Clinton been ahead in the delegate and popular vote count, she would be fighting tooth and nail against any revote or seating of the Florida and Michigan delegates.

The silly season

When Hillary declared her run for the presidency, she knew damn well that the Democratic primary wasn't a winner-take-all system. She never said a word, not that it would've made any difference, about being opposed to that primary system. She also agreed, like all other candidates, to the sanctions against Florida and Michigan. The bizarre whining by Clinton supporters at this point in the campaign, when she clearly has no chance of becoming the nominee about the injustice of the primary system she agreed to participate in and about the Obama camp "refusal' to seat the Michigan and Florida delegates are a proof that just like Hill&Bill, Clinton supporters are a bunch of spoiled narcissists who would rather see McBush as president than not get their way.

Original article: Public opinion on Iraq

The big poll

By conservative estimates, 8 out of 10 Iraqis want the US to end the occupation of their country and leave, immediately or within a few months. This is the most important poll that needs to be discussed and acted upon. There's also the small matter of criminally invading a sovereign country, causing the death of hundred of thousands of its citizens, but Americans generally don't really care about that.
