Edward R. Murrow never studied journalism to the best of my knowledge. Ed Murrow, or David Halberstam or many a number of real journalists and reporters would be turning in their graves to hear pandering hacks like King, Russert or Joe Klein referred to as journalists. If the professer considers anyone at CNN, NBC or any other outfit of the corporate media to be a journalist or reporter, he wouldn't recognize genuine journalism if it hit him in the face. Whatever he teaches, wherever he teaches it, it isn't journalism.
If you buy a lemon car, your criticism of the dealer is not credible, although Timmie would allow you to express yourself, because you never designed or built cars. If your computer is crummy, ditto, since you never studied computer science and never designed computers. According to Timmie, John King, a laughable lightweight prick who can't or won't ask McCain any question that would even remotely qualify as real journalism, is credible, but those who spot his total lack of integrity and professionalism, are not credible, because they never studied or practiced what passes for journalism in his book.
When the mass media cozies us to the political establishment and becomes part of one large mainstream fraternity, which is the CNN way, Time way and just about everybody else's way in the MSM, you get the end of real scrutiny, so obvious during the Bush presidency, and also the end of democracy. John King is so mad because someone actually called him on it, not because it's not true.
Michael Gordon is a courtier, a life long propagandist for the industrial/military complex and for US militant imperialism. I suspect that the officer who was possessedly so alarmed by some politicians desire to pull troops out of Iraq exists only in Gordon's imagination. The Us occupation of Iraq is fully financed by foreign investors. A few more years of unprecedented borrowing would mean, among others, that the US economy and the future of the US public will belong to the Chinese government and the Arab oil exporting feudal countries, who hold trillions of dollars of US treasury securities. Establishment media propagandists like Gordon are too stupid to realize that the Iraq occupation for which they shill could mean not only economic/financial collapse of our system, but the eventual end of the USA as a sovereign nation.
The late R.W. "Johnny" Apple, JR, legendary longtime NY Times journalist, once summed up the attitude of the establishment media toward John McCain. He admitted that he himself was a close personal friend of McCain, considered him a war hero and a great American, and was incapable of writing anything that wouldn't be positively glowing about him. He said (I heard/saw it on a Charlie Rose tribute to Apple in which he used clips from many interviews he had had with him), that most of his colleagues have fairly similar attitudes toward McCain. Apple admitted that access to the "StraightTalk Express" is very seductive to his colleagues. This in a nutshell explains why the MSM is practically tripping over itself in glorifying McCain, ignoring or excusing all his lies, his brutal war mongering, inconsistencies and capitulations, the fudging of his real record and playing up his alleged victimization. John Kerry, a genuine war hero, had been victimized by Right wing lie squads in a much more brutal way than McCain had been than in S. Carolina, and the MSM didn't seem too bothered by it, since they didn't revere and glorified Kerry.
The corporate media has held revolting double standard in favor of McCain compared to any democrat. One needs only to be reminded of the MSM uniformed assault on Al Gore for allegedly saying that he had invented the Internet", something Gore had actually never said. McCain keeps bragging that he was the only senior republican to criticize Donald Rumsfeld and call for his ouster, when in reality, he kept praising Rumsfeld as he were the incarnation of von Clausewitz until it became unfashionable to be on the Rumsfeld bandwagon, and then he made a 1803 degree switch, a cynically opportunistic move. As far as being ravaged in S.Carolina by the Bush/Rove smear machine:nobody forced McCain to be a republican and associate with those snakes. He stayed a Republican and became a Bush obedient cheerleader and brown-noser. The MSM should point this out, instead of laying this ludicrous McCain victimization trip on us.
In the meantime, the security situation in Iraq is deteriorating again. The imaginary "success" of the "surge" had been achieved by bribing the Sunnies with money and weapons not to attack US troops. Now the Sunnies, who wanted to get rid of the crazy jihadists anyway, are heating up the Iraqi scene, and political progress, the declared aim of the so called surge, is nonexistent. One thing is certain, the McCain PR agents-practically the entire establishment media, aren't going to challenge him on it.
Bill and Hillary Clinton believe very strongly that it's Hillary's turn now, that she's entitled to be the Democratic nominee by virtue of being a Clinton and that Obama has been trying to take away what is rightfully hers. They had anticipated an easy primary season in which Hillary would secure the nomination very early, and it didn't happen. Bill Clinton has brought the race issue into the forefront because he's fighting for the dynasty that this young black newcomer is attempting to interrupt. Bill will not cease and not give up because to him Obama is an interloper. If Obama keeps being successful, expect Clinton to intensify his ugly remarks, because he will not give up, even if it means ruining his entire reputation with black America.
