The US is on a fast track to becoming a fascist state. It's not a matter of years, it's happening right now. Freedom of the press is nearly gone in favor of corporate owned, establishment worshiping Pravda-like media. In January, a crazed senile old man who wants to fight the whole world and a fundamental religious fanatic weirdo will move into the White House, taking our country back to the dark ages with them. The Right has won, because the population is too dumb, backward, gullible and ignorant to realize who they are supporting and because the Constitution just isn't strong enough to prevent the marriage of religious, corporate and militaristic fascism with ignorance and stupidity.
Will Charlie be even able to ask Sarah any questions since his snout will be buried so deeply up her ass? And if gets a chance to ask a couple of questions, they would be of the substantive kind no doubt:what type of rifle do you use to hunt bears and, what do you think of Washington politicians who want to raise taxes on ordinary folk like me?
Being ignorant and ill prepared is a pre-requisite for becoming a president, whic Palin would almost certainly become if McCain is elected, because he's an unhealthy 72 year old man who has been hiding his various ailments, one of which is apparently a bad heart, from the public. This is the nation where intellectualism is considered elitism, being well read, well educated and having a mastery of the important issues is considered snobbery and the only requirement the people of a candidate is that the he/she be someone they would like to have a beer or go hunting with.
because she is getting a crash course on how to identify Europe on a map, what NATO means, who the president of France is and how to pronounce his name and how many world wars there have been, stuff like that.
John McCain is an invention of the media. The real John McCain is nothing like the phantom image he has created, using the media. When you research his childhood, his naval academy and military years and remove the mythology, bullshit, lies and grotesque exaggerations, you discover a hedonistic, selfish, mean spirited, occasionally cruel, not very bright and not very brave person. The maverick fantasy is also self-invented and distributed by the adoring media. Is speech was boring, empty, pretentious and ridiculously insincere because it reflected his personality-the real McCain is boring, vacuous, pretentious, hypocritical and grotesquely self centered and devoid of any new ideas.
Obama is clearly using Ali's rope-a-dope strategy. In the legendary fight against Forman, Ali determined that he had no chance going punch by punch against Forman, a ferocious puncher who would throw everything he had against his opponents and overwhelm them with his sheer power and nastiness. Ali felt that after Forman has exhausted himself and his punches became ineffective, he would use his superior technique, finess and intelligence to knock him out. It worked for Ali, but it's doubtful it would work against McCain, because it's been proven that the independents and undecided are actually effected by aggressive and negative campaigning and tend to believe the aggressor. They may claim they are tuned off by such campaigning, but the records indicate the exact opposite. Each candidate can count on about 47% of the electorate. The remaining 6% will probably interpret a reluctance to attack as an admittance that the opponent is correct in its attacks. If Obama/Biden don't become extremely aggressive in their attacks, of course without any personal attacks on family members, they will lose, as usual.
Half of the electorate voted for Bush, twice and considered him fit to be president. Half believes that the universe was created by a mysterious magician in 6 days less than 6000 years ago and that humans lived with the dinosaurs. Half of the electorate believes that a few hundred thugs hiding in caves are planning to invade the USA and force 300 million Americans to convert to Islam. Half of the electorate thinks that Palin, who thinks she lives in 1700, who doesn't even own a passport and is ignorant of the world outside of Alaska, is qualified to be president. Half of 300 million, that's about 3 times the population of France.
I read an excellent column in The Guardian the other day, written by an American woman. She expressed what had been clear to many for at least 8 years now. The notion of "an American nation" is fantasy, such a thing doesn't exist. Blue America and Red America are two separate, very different nations. As she said, at best they ignore each other, at worse they despise each other.
should be the two fronts on which the Democrats blitzkrieg the fascists. Bring out in the open McCain's years of corruption, starting even before the Keating 5-there's plenty of evidence there, but the Dems keep praising him as honorable and a great patriot, both are untrue and only help perpetuate his false image. Keep emphasizing that he would be the most extreme and militaristic president in US history, compared to McCain, Bush and Reagan should be considered as relative moderates. He would initiate wars and military conflicts Bush wouldn't have dared start. McCain would love to invade Sweden-too many Swedes oppose the Iraq invasion. No attacks on family-the Palin family and Cindy McCain are plenty grotesque without the Democrats going after them and Democrats don't do that kind of stuff anyway, that's Rove's territory.
