Old Joe

You are such an idiot, my dog would feel insufferably superior to you and rightly so. I have lived and travelled in countries with single payer universal healthcare. When I needed surgery once, I had it done by terrific doctors, no paper work, no payment and no insurance company bureaucrat to deny it because of imaginary "pre-existing conditions". When I needed medical care, it was immediate, quick and didn't involve any paperwork and NO, I repeat No forms to fill out, unlike her, when every procedure involves endless forms and endless conversations with insurance hacks whose only function is to try and deny you the surgery,/procedure/treatment, something you wouldn't know about you fucking redneck moron. The word "profit" should never be associated with healthcare. It's immoral and criminal to take away that most basic human right from people.

Old Joe

Yu are a delusional "free market" bozo, no better than a Flat-Earther or creationist, so I'll acknowledge you once, although it's much more than you deserve. Health care should be free, completely, permanently and with no strings attached, financed by tax payers and financially feasible by deep cuts in defense spending and the dismantling of the empire. Anybosy who tries to prevent this should be destroyed as an enemy of the sate.

The enemy is all around us

The American Right Wing and its political arm, the GOP, is the only formidable enemy this nation has. We will never be a normal nation in which no person or family face financial ruin and homelessness when a serious illness hits as long as the GOP is allowed to terrorize us as an extension of corporate America. We are denied by the GOP and their allies in the Democratic party one of the most basic human rights:universal and free healthcare which the rest of the civilized world has taken for granted for generations. The GOP must be outlawed and declared an enemy of the state, just like Al Qaeda or any other terrorist organization attempting to attack the US. The existence of the GOP at it current form and the our nation are mutually exclusive.

Chuck

As a side note, I was surprised at how inarticulate Todd had been throughout the discussion. His argument boils down to that:government officials should never be prosecuted for breaking the law because their trials would become political show trials and might get the public involved in discussions about those crimes and that's a bad thing. He was furiously channeling David Broder. I would've asked him whether, based on his particular logic, the US should've opposed the trials of Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milosevic.

Palin deserves the ridicule

She has been idolizing an existence of complete blindness to the outside world, of extreme anti-intellectualism, ridicule of cosmopolitanism and a simplistic frontier mentality that would take this society back a few hundred years. The impression she leaves is of someone who has lived in a cave and is unaware of what happened to the world in the last couple of centuries. The scariest thing of all, she acts as if ignorance is a virtue that qualifies her for high office and she gives very strong hints that a USA with her as President would rapidly retreat toward the dark ages. The attention she's given by the media actually helps increase her popularity among the un/undereducated, often racist white population. Palin as a person is so light weight and insignificant, essentially a cartoon character, she seems more like a fictional character created by Sasha Barron Cohen for an Ali G. episode, but the state of mind she represents points to a significant (in numbers) anti-intellectual segment of the population that is extremely angry and frustrated.

Original article: Can Palin ever come back?

"If palin ever hits the books"

to learn about international history". Because she already knows everything about the US-that's why she called the Justice Department "the department of law". Why is CP so infatuated with trailer trash?

His greatest crime

McNamara was a very smart man. At some point he realized what a disaster the war had been, yet he continued to implement a policy he became vehemently opposed to. He resigned far too late. He should have resigned the moment he lost faith in the cause and then he should have oppose it from the outside, but he had old fashioned ideas about "honor" and respect for authority when he could've saved many American and Vietnamese lives if he had acted courageously.

The asylum candidate

From the moment I first heard her speak, i though the woman was crazy like a bat and virtually the most stupid person I ever listened to. Often , I had to pinch myself to ensure I wasn't hallucinating and that this bizarre woman actually existed. The Third reich taught us that deranged, ignorant and stupid people can take over a country under extraordinary circumstances and nearly conquer the world if the population is conformist, lazy, ignorant and gullible enough to allow it. Her base is truly insane, but fortunately for the country and the entire world, it's not large enough to catapult her to power and her corruption and lack of ethics hopefully ended her Alaska crazy episode as well.

Palin's appeal

She appeals strictly to regular idiots. She appeals to uneducated white males dressed in overalls stretched by their huge bellies, spitting chewing tobaccos through their two remaining teeth who mutter "fuck that nigger between huge farts", and she appeals to their ladies. She is spectacularly dumb, corrupt, uneducated, uniformed and clueless and she appeals to people whose IQ borders on retardation. That's her entire non-story. Now, thankfully, she is crawling back into oblivion. There might be some foul residue of her far too long 15 minutes, but even the stinkiest farts fade away at some point, and that's exactly what she has been, a very foul smelling fart.
