Original article: Ari Fleischer's big failure

Poor Ari

It seems like the universe would start contracting in shock and galactic clusters would disintegrate if one word that isn't a bold lie passed Fleischer's lips. Ari Fleischer never told the truth about anything. Hell, if he said it was November, 2008, I would consult at least 10 calendars just to be certain. Baldie is one of those right wing weasels who gets a severe case of diarrhea if he cannot lie constantly. In all his years of being W's mouthpiece, he never uttered the truth even once.

Centrism

If we get universal healthcare, an end to the US presence in Iraq, no more imperial wars, an accommodation with Iran, Cuba and Venezuela, a green approach to the economy and global warming, an FDR like infrastructure rebuilding project and the rebuilding of our public education system, I think we will be able to live with Obama's centrism.

Original article: Get over it, Clinton haters

Actually, I like that choice

because General Jim Jones is going to be national security advisor. A brilliant officer, former USMC Commandant and Supreme NATO commander. He has quietly opposed the Iraq invasion and is highly respected in Europe. If Hillary defies Obama, which I doubt she would, she would be replaced by Jones before she knew what hit her.

Liberals

Liberal parties anywhere else in the world are the political expression of the bourgeois. They are hostile to or at least uncomfortable with labor unions and are rather opposed to large social programs. They dislike government regulations of financial markets and of workplace safety standards. They are for market self-regulation, for low taxes and are very libertarian vis-a-vis government interference in people's private lives. The US is the only country in the world where the word "liberal" is confused with being left wing or a social -democrat.

"Liberal" is a misconception in the US

Actually, the rest of the world considers "Liberalism" to be a libertarian leaning centrist, pro free market, anti government regulation, anti government intervention in people's private life. It's actually more in line with the now non-existent Rockefeller style moderate Republicanism. In western Europe, Israel and most other democracies, liberal parties usually form coalition with more right wing parties because of their free market tendencies. Foreigners often get confused when US progressives are referred to as "liberals".

Oklahoma Bob

James Inhofe is really the redneck, retarded incarnation of the hilarious, priceless and sourly missed Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf, the former Iraqi information minister, known best as Baghdad Bob.

about those homeless

The main reason SF, and many other large cities have so many homeless is because O'Reilly's hero, Ronald Reagan, empties so many psychiatric hospitals of their patients. The Republican disaster economics ideology is responsible for the fact that so many homeless who belong in those hospitals or in drug rehab, are roaming the streets. Since SF has a culture of tolerance and acceptance, those homeless are generally not brutalized, beaten up and sometime killed as in cities O'reilly admires. In an O'reilly, Limbaugh and Hannity USA, the poor and homeless would be treated like the Nazis treated the Jews or the Afghan Pashtuns treat the Hazerah, but SF, thankfully, isn't really typically American.

Larry Tribe

He's brilliant and posses a giant, progressive legal mind. However, he's over 70, which means that unless he's in perfect health and his mind is guaranteed to stay sharp and focused for the next 25 years, it would be back to the drawing board in a few years, or even worse, what if a Republican wins in 2012? The solution is to appoint young Larry Tribes, 50 year old or younger.

Ironic, isn't it?

If the election ended with 50 Republican senators and49 Democrats (including Sanders of Vermont), does anyone doubt that Lieberman would've bolted to the Republican caucus and handed control of the US Senate to the GOp?

Tuesday, November 18, 2008 07:42 AM

I figured it out

There must have been tremendous pressure by AIPAC on many Democratic senators to retain his committee chairmanship and not punish him. I heard of some intense lobbying by AIPAC aimed to convince my senator, Barbara Boxer, to support retaining Lieberman, and I can't imagine that many other senators weren't exposed to the same kind of pressure by AIPAC.

This is a form of masochism by the Democrats

Does anyone doubt that he'll do anything in his power to undermine and embarrass the Obama administration? Lieberman would be able to issue endless subpoenas and run the hearings in a manner implying that Obama doesn't care about homeland security. If the Democrats try to remove him then, he would whine about a witch hunt against him for trying to protect the homeland from the administration's incompetency and imply that the President is using the Democratic majority to silence him. Nothing good can come out of retaining Lieberman, it's all bad.

Original article: Should Obama chase Osama?

Bad idea

Killing Bin Laden would be the worst of all possible worlds. It would turn him into a mythological martyr of radical Islam and his death would be avenged by the death of many innocent American civilians, mostly tourists in other countries. The only good option is to somehowcapture him alive, an option the Bush/Cheyney regime made damn sure would never happen. If captured, the truth about the connection between Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda, the Bin Laden family and the Bush family could possibly come out. A light could also be shone on the possibility of Cheney using Bin Laden as a sub-contractor for the 9/11 attacks, an attack that eventually made Cheney and other war profiteers fabulously wealthy by giving them a pretense to invade Iraq and turn the US into a "homeland security" fortress.

Original article: Bill Ayers talks back

Who is a terrorist

The Weather Underground opposed a regime that used its superior military power to terrorized against other nations. The WU were extremely careful not to harm innocent bystanders. The WU never killed a cop, defense department officials, military personnel or politicians supporting the Vietnam war. The only people killed were 3 WU members when a bomb they were preparing went off. How exactly do Bill Ayers and his WU members qualify as terrorist while the likes of GWBush, GHWBush(remember the invasion of Panama and the killing of 3000 Panamanian civilians?), Niixon, Cheney, Rumsfeld, McCain(who specifically attacked civilian targets when a bomber pilot, a clear war crime) don't?
