cosmicmojo - geeze, it's always about that giant man-hating club

I never said women aren't part of the problem, and it's putting extreme words into people's mouths that makes you so hard to have a respectful dialogue with.

cosmicmojo you quoted Matt:

... If there is a "War on Boys," it's being perpetrated by men, not women ...

-- Matt Walker>>

Insightfuk, Beautiful, accurate, sucinct-- cosmicmojo

Thats pretty clear that its men not women.

But I'll conceed it not your usual expressed viewpoint - perhaps you overlooked that part of the quote?

Not safe for male teachers

At least not here (Australia) or NZ - male teachers run a high risk of being accused of pedophilia or the slightest of pretexts. They have to take extreme precautions with regards to child contact.

Don't we all want to fuck Micheal Chabon ?

Where are all the letters from those psychics who know we're all jealous of Ayelet because we want to sleep with her husband ?

Or were they all just Ayelet posting anonymously ?

Much better than Ayelet Waaldman

I dislike the direction salon has taken this last year intensly I find AM's articles badly written neurotic whiny pieces of tripe at best - at worst they're quite sick, and I've been quite vocal re this in the past.

But this article is none of these and I'm puzzled by the comparisons. Its clearly written, to the point and reveals issues that effect all of us one way or another after childbirth. As a man I emphasised with her and her partner and will find it useful to keep in mind,

thankyou Mz Williams for sharing.

Real Names

Its ridiculous to penalise people who post under a pseudonym - as has been previously noted many people speak freely on views that they would *not* want their workmates or peers to know - this is not a bad thing.

Scott - I thought as a fairly sussed online person you'd be aware of this.

Flip side of the article

Apparently most women don't want a man with a sense of humour.

I presume that broadsheet, in keeping with its secret mission statement will find something negative o say about this, i.e "We all know women are threatened by men who laugh"

Ummm - what did she do ?

Because buggered if I could figure it out from that incoherent letter.

And I don't even like guys ...

Doesn't this belong in Broadsheet >

Yah know its about women so its gotta be shunted off somewhere "special" and its got that whole boardsheet meme going - Noble unappreciated women whose problems are caused by the lazy piggish men in their lives.

Back in reality - trash can this article - its shallow apologistic c***p.

Rose

You ask " A compelling question comes to mind, though: where is the proverbial American common sense"

The world wonders this - has wondered this through two elections, and is coming to the conclusion that the American public wants this incompetent dangerous adminstration.

There was a time when the world differentiated between Americans (the people) and their government - that time has passed. It will be a long time before Americans are regarded with anything but distrust, if not out right distaste or hate.

I won't be watching the movie

Mainly because of what happens to the dogs.

But that doesn't make it a bad movie - if fact it seems quite realistic, particularly the way the dog are abandoned by by the people who should have looked after them.

Just because you don't like the lack of a happy ending doesn't mean it should be panned.

Another favour

Can we also please ignore all the feminist trolls chiming in about patriarchy, men objectifying women etc ...

Perhaps this guy just doesn't like hairy legs - shallow, but not particularly indicative of a social agenda.

Thursday, February 23, 2006 04:04 AM

Hmmmm

Do you suppose that if Broadsheet was commenting on a country where TWENTY FIXE PERCENT of the women had been killed they would be concentrating on the difficulties of men finding wives ?

The appalling misandry of salon and its readers lately really turns my stomach, particularly the way its dressed up as feminism. I only check salon a couple of times a week now and I won't be renewing my sub.

Your're way to nice to her

What a whiny priviliged piece of work, obviously never suffered any real deprivation in her life give the complete lack of empathy displayed.

LW - you're a nasty shit, I hope you end up freezing your butt off somewhere, with no friends to help you out.

What have you got against them ?

They're cheeky, they're snarky - what more could you want ? Pink ?

To Maxie

Sounds like you're in a bummer of a situation, I'd help out if I could - but I presume you're in the USA - I'm in Australia

Good grief

An obsession with locking up women ? separating them from their kids harms them ?

WHAT ABOUT THE FRIGGING FATHERS !

They're looked up at vastly greater rates for trivial crimes, but who gives a shit about them and the harm done to their kids. They're just men after all, they don't matter - probably would molest the kids anyway - best off in jail where they can be raped on a daily basis, teach them a good lesson.

Nice to see the sons don't matter either. There's one clear message from this - Mothers and Daughters are all that count.

Nice to see the program was so successful as well - two of five mothers (that she knows of) went straight back to drugs and crimes, severely traumatising their kids - but hey, they're women and mothers, we should appreciate their poor blameless victim hood. But Ellen Spiro got to feel good about herself.

This article and the program epitomise the wilful blindness of ideological driven agendas which are betraying a great movement - feminism.

Really for once the whole thing belonged in Broadsheet - nice pink ghetto for it away from the real news, we would all have been better served placing it there.

Jessica Holmes - You missed my point

I'm not refering to "Where are the fathers" in the context of single mothers, rather - what about the fathers who are forcibly separated from their children, in far grater numbers than mothers are, the system seems to find this irrelevant and unimportant.

Actuallyy, looking at the rest of your letter which appears to be a bunch of completely unsupported assumptions about women and prison it is no wonder you completely misread my message.
